I really like your delivery and awesome camera shots, giving us a no BS tutorial on anything you make a vid for...Thanks so much!
Thanks! I enjoy the editing and what goes on behind the camera that most people never notice in the final cut. Appreciate you noticing
Welcome back David…nice to see you again….👏👏👏👏👏👏
I pretty much have made more videos this year already when compared to the whole of last year. More coming
I save myself lots of money watching your videos
Always glad to share what I know
I have a bunch of seal drivers from the plumbing department at Home Despot. Thanks for the tip. (Thats what she said)
David, I appreciate the level of organization in that toolbox. 5S all the way! Great video as always.
I can’t take credit for that…..that tool box rarely gets used….if only you seen my roll cart you would be shocked, but hey….i know where everything is in it 😂
I just did this repair yesterday. I found a short 1/2 drive 1 inch impact socket on a 1/2 drive 6 inch extension worked perfectly. (After I ruined 1 seal)
Keep up the great work. Some of the best content out there!
Luckily I have many extras so I could finally figure a simpler way to replace them and not damage them as well lol
That's why I love your channel because you explain everything in detail.
Some say in toooo much detail lol. I’m glad you enjoy and I appreciate the feedback.
Awesome. Had NO idea you needed a special tool to install this. And I have to replace mine asap. Thank you. Off to Home Depot. lol
Your welcome. Thanks for taking the time to comment
LOL..no wonder why mine wouldn’t go in when I was doing my complete seal change. lol. Thanx pal!!!!
Great Video. thank you for sharing. Thanks to you I have performed many repair on the wife's Town & country. Including the oil filter housing.
That’s how you become her hero! Glad my videos help and thanks for watching f
Great video Dave,, thx for saving the consumer some cash .
Much appreciated!
Dav…should we replace the camshaft sensor or how to know if its needs to replaced what’s the issue….
I don’t see enough failures to justify replacing until it actually goes bad. Typically you have a check engine light related.
@@MotorCityMechanic ok thank you and have a nice day…
Great job!! I’m going to go back and watch the one where u remove the plenum blindfolded.
I still mention that video to people when they say how hard/stupid doing a tuneup is on one of these engines
I love this video, thank you so much. I searched high and low for this video!!! I need my camshaft sensor bank 1 replaced ASAP. I have a Chrysler 200 C. 2016. My bf and I have been looking to possibly do it on our own to save $$$…a mechanic we know thru mutual friends quoted us $120. Not bad but my bf and I want to try ourselves. We have the part, just need to grab that seal. Any advice on how to get that top intake part off so we can get to the actual location of the sensor? That will probably be the hardest to figure out.
Great videos and info. Question. I'm dealing with a P0394. Happens only at speeds above 65mph. Cam sensor was replaced. I'm thinking the phasers on bank 2 is the issue. Note I can't calibrate the cam sensors either. Runs great till the higher speed. Then it lacks like a misfire. You would swear it was a coil or a plug. Jeep has 192000 miles on it. I'm gonna do that phaser lock test next. Have you seen this? Ed
Friend, excellent video, a question, My 2009 Dodge Journey, 3.5 awd, I put the gears on the selector and it doesn't move even with the wheels raised, if it marks the changes on the dashboard, it doesn't make strange noises, I was checking better and yes I have some codes, I have active p0585, and stored p0716, p0791, p0721, the oil has a good level and is not burned, what could it be?
Gets to it at 5:20. My 24mm snap on 1/2 in. Impact socket worked to drive in down.
Hello Dave, can I ask you about the Ram /Cummins Recall 67A
Can you do a video on this issue ? I’m hear that the dealer will reflash the ecm with a new program and so far what I have been hearing is the it’s basically calibration of the def to burn more of it.
I enjoy the videos you post and been following you since I got my 2017
2500 Ram. Would like to hear your opinion on this recall.
so im working on my 3.2l Trailhawk. my cam sensors are both leaking inside the sensor to the connector getting my wires oiled up. im guessing the sensor is compromised now. Pro tip: i used a 27mm impact socket with the tapered end it worked perfect (flipped around so the taper grabs the lip)
If that sensor is GUNKED up then you know you have other issues to take care of
Very true!
Watched a vid . You are the only mechanic that explains things . Thnx
I need help 2015 3.6 jeep checking for spark 3 2 4 6 spark all the time while 1 and 5 spark only one time why
COmo puedo comunicarme directamente... tengo un ´problema con el motor pentastar .. te escribo desde colombia.
Thanks for sharing.
I had so much trouble installing this seal
Thank you for a great tip for cheep seal tool and instructions on how to install seal
Your welcome!
Great way 2 save money david. And have a special tool in ur box. Another great vid
Great tip. Thanks so much!
You are so welcome!
As they say… it’s all easy once you know how. Thanks for the tip.
Exactly! Once you know you know!
Excellent video, as usual. The only thing extra that I do when replacing the camshaft position sensor seal is to wipe a bit of motor oil on the outside of the seal and inside of the hole. After that, pushing the new seal in with the socket is much easier with less pressure. Thanks for doing what you do David.
Great tip! Thanks for watching the video and for the added info. Much appreciated!
David Pike, you sir, make one of the absolute best how to automotive videos.
Thanks man! The feedback is much appreciated
Always top notch on info and details!!
Much appreciated
Mines is leaking. Will be replacing seals soon. Thank you
Dumb question but can they go on any side of the motor i mixed mine up
Are Pentastars after 2018 like this too?
As always, love the content. 🙏
Glad you enjoy it!
Great tip. I've done plenty of work on these engines but that cam position sensor seal has always been a PIA and cost me time
For the longest while I caught hell as well. Until one day when I had nothing to do I just sat down and made myself figure it out. Thanks for watching!
Amazing video David. Love the custom tools. Thanks you.
Much appreciated
Another great tip for working on our
motors
Appreciate it. I have a few more coming soon
damn. no wonder the one that I replaced still has wetness around it 😐 Thanks for the video!
You’re welcome and thanks for watching.
Of course it requires a special tool. It's a Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram :)
My current dilemma is my 2014 Ram 1500 front differential. Turns out that the splines on the right side of the diff are corroded to the point they are destroying CV axles. The intermediate shaft can only be serviced with a diff rebuild so the shop offered me a $3000 repair. I declined until I have to come up with an new plan.
Wondering should I replace both as preventative maintenance? There's no leak nor a OBD fault code to replace the sensor(s). I have everything broke down and open due to replacing the oil filter cooler....sitting at 160K miles and I don't want to take the chance to turn around and break everything back down again.
200 IQ tips here, thanks!
Your presentation and knowledge is outstanding. You explained this topic perfectly. I only wish you had time for the other side. Thanks!
Should sensors be replaced on both sides of the 3.6 at the same?
Personally I wouldn’t, not a common failure item and doing it in pairs would be a waste of money in my opinion
@@MotorCityMechanic thank you!
Very nice presentation by the way. Thanks for saving everyone money!
I replaced the the bank 1 cam position sensor by the firewall on my 2012 Avenger per code P0340. The check engine light, along with a traction control icon is still on. Should this clear with a number of drivers cycles, or do I need to take it to Firestone to re map it ? Any help appreciated…answer when you can. Thanks
Update, after several drive cycles the check engine light went off. Thanks
I please need help got a plug I can't get out it's not tight stripped I get and oil is around the plug in the #6 cylinder.
May need some long nose needle nose pliers or a antenna type magnet
Mr mopar is back in the house 👊🏻
Never left….just got lazy lol
@@MotorCityMechanic more please. Not the lazy 😁
Thanks for this, we have to replace this seal on our '17 Wrangler, brilliant idea with the PVC pipe!
Take your time and you shouldn’t have any issues. Appreciate you watching
Is it possible the camshaft position sensor code on a ‘16 wrangler is really just about a faulty seal and not the sensor itself ? Thanks and I’m

Tky😊
Thank you as well!
Really good thinking solid on the money tips. Thank you
It’s hard to make and I don’t want to waste it lol. I like keeping my money when I can
Would adding some grease\oil or silicone lube be advisable?
Personally I wouldn’t. It needs to be tight fit for it to stay in place
Первый!
👍
If I am ever near your shop David, I would stop in to shake your hand. You're a true professional and an expert teacher! Your videos are among the best I've seen on the internet. You are at the top! Thank you!
Thanks for the information! Greatly appreciated.
Should we do a relearn after messing with the position sensors or uppers on a 3.6? Whats your opinion?
Thanks for all your videos!
You don’t have too…..is say that because if have never had an issue when I didn’t but it wouldn’t hurt
What? It's not a plug and play type of sensor replacement?
@@Kiddro22 its job is to learn where what the cam shaft position is…..so the position of the sensor and how it’s made could affect how accurate it is if “just install” without using the scanner to perform the relearn procedure. Does it have to be done or it won’t work…..no. Would it be more accurate if you did the relearn…..yes. Depends on what equipment you have as far as scanners
@@MotorCityMechanic I understand. I don’t have no scanner of any sort. I have everything open due to replacing the oil filter cooler @ 160k. But don’t want to have to open things back up 10k miles down the road to a thrown code for the sensor(s)
thank's 👍👍
Thanks
I did mine by hand
👍👍👍
Thanks Dave!
Your welcome! I appreciate you checking the video out
👍👍
Glad to see you back brother videos are always informative !
I really like your videos even tho I have the lifetime max Mopar warranty on my 2014 journey 152k but still waiting on the abs module ( internal failure) to come back in stock, since they are backorder everywhere
Is the abs module a recall item ?
Perfect
great tech tip much appreciated thanks
Many thanks!
That's awesome thank you!!
Your welcome!

I appreciate that! Thanks for the comment and awesome feedback
Again... you are a lifesaver. Thank you
Great info thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome tech.. thanks man
Your welcome
Great video as always MCM
Much appreciated!
I've found silicone grease makes seal installation go easily as well
On that seal I always worry it might make it hard to stay in place and easy to “pop” out…..I do lube open the center of the spark plug tube seals to help the valve cover going back on
@@MotorCityMechanic that's a good point! I ended up purchasing a Mopar long block last year and had to swap all accessories over so I decided to replace all seals on the valve cover with new OE. Silicone grease was my best friend. I ended up putting the vvl solenoids on backwards and caught it from oil leakage so it can be easily done! Thanks for the video! All of yours are outstanding!
@@brianw.520 I appreciate the kind words and again….thanks
Great idea, thanks 👍😁
Your welcome and thank you
Awesome tip!!
