Hey bud, most no crank problems I diag at the starter relay. The easiest thing you can check there is to find out if the circuit complete from the relay to the starter. I cringe watching you place the lifters and rock arms in whatever order; I bought a very expensive tray from Amazon to keep em organized and in order, well, yes, I am not a mechanic at all; took apart my 3.6 pentastar due to hydro lock, just got to the block few mins ago and found number 2 connecting rod bent the hell out of it and are praying the damage did not crack the block or the heads; would have to send it for inspections but everything looks clean and shinny, cams, crankshaft, bearings, surfaces, no signs of significant wear; this engine has about 68k miles on it and I do keep my synthetic oil changes on points, the van has Mopar lifetime warranty but the fuckers did not covered the hydro lock; dealer repair price was 13k so nobody wanted to cover which is why I am doing it, learning, cussing up and destroying my body in the process as the whole thing had to come off the van as crank would not spin, only once I got it suspended in a hoist and with a very large cheater bar I managed to spin the engine to separate the torque converter, that was after had to pull the engine with tranny attached out, at some point it busted a hook point and fell but no damage luckily; I mean the whole thing have been a bitch to endure but I am half way now, just been expending close to 2k in parts so far from rock auto for replacements; trying to stay with the factory parts as much as possible can as to keep that Mopar warranty, but came here to learn how to take the valves apart, need to strip the heads for inspection/ cleaning/ rectifying, if needed same with the block; I do not see any cracks evident so far but I can not see the one you are pointing in the video either so that is that; I need more expert tests on it. Thanks for the video!

@@chazbchaz5036 I'd see if you can get a remanufactured engine for your year. Unfortunately for me, hardly no one makes a remanufactured Generation 3 pentastar and the company I found that does charges just as much as a new one. But if you are keeping the vehicle it's probably your best option if you have a blown head gasket. OR you could replace the head and put a new gasket in your original motor. If you do that though depending on how bad the lower block has had coolant in it, you could be facing bearing failure down the road. Of you caught it early enough maybe not and if your block is not warped you may be OK. Safest option is total engine replacement but that can be a big expense.
Hey jt can you tell me which plug is the number 3 on a 2011 ford taurus. And can I just change only the one coil that has a misfire or do I have the change all of them.

How bout you just stay away from Mopar. How's that? No sense trying to give out assumption advice. What exactly are you even talking about "problem will come back later"?
@OnlineMechanicTips The new parts will fail again later. It's a poor design flaw. Chrysler continues to deny 3.6 cases and many others. 2021, 2022 2023 nice new cars, same problem in the dealership. I worked there many years, but when you only get paid 4.6 hours to tear apart motors, it wears you out fast.
@user-ju8rr9rf1o Its not a poor design, just terrible vendors where used to supply important parts. Your argument of failing again could apply to any part on any car. Im in the field, I don't see repeated failures. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with one and I hope they help you get it right. But the numbers don't add up. There's over 11 million of these engine out in cars being driven. It's only maybe 1 to 2% that exhibit problems. That feels like a lot because there's a lot out there.
@OnlineMechanicTips 🤣🤣🤣The lawsuit covers every single vehicle with the 3.6 . The engineers specifically state design flaws. And yes , our dealership has had a whole lot of returns from ones we fixed.
That so called lawsuit been pending for over a decade now. It's never going to fly. It's not a flaw, thats just a name attorneys gave it. Guess I been lucky all these years huh, or either the guys at your dealer don't know what they doing.
So i blew my head block and its for my challenger which I want to keep for a long time. If i want the best result, should the mechanic just replace the header? He's recommending I get a jasper engine which are remanufactured. Not sure what to do. =(

JT, you mentioned that the timing chains won’t come off the bottom of the crank sprocket, so we don’t have to worry about that. Does that apply to all year models of the 3.6? Thanks
This would be same for the p0300 p0306 rough idle random stalls? Coils and plugs changed or rotated to bank 1.... 150k miles
Do you have insight on this problem, that Mopar is well aware of...but as it relates to internal coolant leakage? Thank you
Good evening. I have a question. I have a 2019 chrysler 300. 3.6. With 58,000 miles. No codes. In the morning when I start the car it cranks smoothly no noise, no ticking valves. A soon as I give it a bit of with the car still in park. I hear a clatter noise. Once the car gets to operating temperature it won't replicate the noise! I know you have lots of people asking you stuff. I really hope you might have a bit of time to help me. I appreciate your time!! Thank you !!
Do you have a video on the harmonic balancer
Can you link the first video in the description

I need this work done to my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6 v6. Has p0306 code with rough idle. I’m in North Carolina; do you have any shops you’d recommend in that area?
Hello I have a ram 2019 V6 out of warranty. I have misfire in cylonders 2,4,6. The truck is running but I have white smoke and the truck shakes at idle . I took it to a mechanic and he changes the housing for the oil filter, coils and spark plugs but the problem was not solved. I have made a compression test today in all cylinders. I have 180 psi in cylinders 1,3,6. I have 130 psi in cylinders 2,4,6. Can you advise me what to do now ?
I've learned alot from u thanku
Where is the first video. Im having a hard time finding it
Im getting a cylinder 4 misfire on my 3.6L Compression test comes back fine. Coils firing fine, injectors firing fine. So I still dont know what too look at next.
What year make and model is this? Also are you subscribed to the channel?
@@OnlineMechanicTips I am subscribed now. Its a 2012 Dodge Durango. 171k miles. Misfire came outta nowhere. So did the parts cannon. Injectora, plugs, coils, map sensor, new upper and lower intake gaskets. And when that didnt work. I did a compression test all 6 cylinders within 5psi. Still cylinder 4 misfire and a p0172/p0175.
@@nissan300ztt Now keep in mind, the 2012 early built heads had the problems with the valves and the seat. Sometimes that would show up on a compression test and sometime not. Also a broken rocker arm could cause that if you hearing and ticking noises from that side. But because of those other 2 codes, the exhaust important. Have you had the cat conv replaced or anything like that?
@@OnlineMechanicTips O2 sensors were replaced. Fuel economy is still good. 24.7mpg on a recent trip to delaware from PA about 235 miles. Exhaust is clean.
On a 3.6 penetar engine does the lifter has a specific way they go in or you just drop them in the hole
late to the video but im having a issue where im getting codes for both low compression and missfire cylinder 2. is this something i should consider doing as well?
I've fought for too long to get the grenade pin in to lock the tensioner in place. I've always had to tie the chain to each side, replace the head and fight to get it all back together without dropping tensioner pieces.
So, just how do you get the pin in the tensioner before pulling the head?
Using the proper tools, theres no need to fight with anything. This video shows how do it on and off the car. Also are you subscribed to the channel? ua-cam.com/video/IYT7UGSL93s/v-deo.html
Nice vid JT. I have a 2013 grand caravan. When I’m idling/parked for more than 5 mins the temp creeps up to a little before 3/4 on the gauge. It also tends to smell like coolant as well when this is happening. I’m having a rough idle, but no check engine light. I replaced thermostat, and the oil cooler with mopar parts. There’s no Leaks that I can see but the engine bay smells like coolant when I drive. Every 1-2 weeks I have to fill the reservoir, as it’s at or below the minimum line. What would you think this is? Thanks
Warp cylinder head
Will a new head damage the older pistons
No
@@OnlineMechanicTips thank you
the gen 3 pentastars on pacificas apperantly blow em a lot i seen 3 at the local dealer when i went to visit my friend lol not good for me i have a pacifica lmao
Jt do I suppose to apply oil to new head bolts
2012 jeep cherokee just got the head replaced not too long ago but I am getting a 2 4 6 misfire did the coils, spark plugs bank 2 sensor 2 o2 and yet to find my problem also found a broken ground strap but still didn't fix my issue, would it be the crankshaft position sensor
Hey buddy, are you using a scan tool that will let you view misfire counters? If so, which cyl do you see counting? Also are you subscribed to the channel?
where are you located? would love to bring my vehicle to you
What type of torque wrench do you suggest using ?
Where is the part 1??
can i tighten the intake phase with out the special tool
Never understand when “your” that deep “you” dont take a few minutes to check compression? Not you personally but anyone.
Going that deep chasing a miss
Wassup JT frequent like and subscriber here. I have a 2007 Dodge Charger SXT. No crank no start. When I turn the key I get nothing. I have NO power to my starter. I changed the ignition switch and the actuator pin. I work at autozone so I bought a new battery, alternator, AND starter. Still no luck. I’m thinking it either the key (I was sold only the physical key with no fob), the FCM, or either the wiring harness or starter cable. Any knowledge?
Hey bud, most no crank problems I diag at the starter relay. The easiest thing you can check there is to find out if the circuit complete from the relay to the starter. Use a jumper wire and jump 12 volts to pin 87 of the starter relay. It t should spin over, if it dont that circuit open. But first see if the relay click when you attempt starting
@@OnlineMechanicTips thanks for reaching back out 💯 actually my mechanic jumped that 87 pin and the starter did spin over. So I’m thinking more so of the circuit being open. What could be the fix if my hypothesis is right ?
Hey Brother, I have a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan. I am having P0303 cylinder 3 misfire on it and I have interchanged ignition coil and spark plugs from cylinder 1 to 3 but the code remains with the cylinder 3. I changed the injector with no success, did a compression test on cylinder 1 and 3 and both has the same reading at 165 psi and did the leak down test as well and there is no leak at all. I am lost now and don’t know what I am missing or what else should I check now because I am still having P0303 code and my van vibrates at idle but runs smooth otherwise. Please guide me.
Warmest regards
Vijay
What was it for you, sounds like fuel injectors to me, but did you ever figure it out?
Did you sue rtv for there the head meets the timing cover ?
Always. Those are the sealing points
What was the mileage on the engine before this happened?
Don't remember. What does that matter?
Hello sir, I have a P0305 misfire code. Replaced the plug and pack with OE for the pack and NGK for the plug. Still getting a misfire. Also engine runs really rough sometimes on cold startup and then settles out but still slightly rough at idle. 3.6L Pentastar in a 2017 Pacifica. Also replaced the cam shaft sensor. Any tips or advice? Taking it to the Chrysler Dealership Friday.
Hey what did the dealer say was the issue
@@chazbchaz5036 ended up being a head gasket...I'm considering replacing the engine with a rebuilt
@@brianw.520 if you don’t mind me asking, what kind of car do you have? Mine is a 2015 200s Chrysler I’m stuck between wondering if it makes more sense logically to put a new one in, or if I should just give up because what if after putting a new one in there’s more issues ..
@Brian W. Are u still driving it or did u do an engine swap...I think I'm might be in the same situation
Hey jt can you tell me which plug is the number 3 on a 2011 ford taurus. And can I just change only the one coil that has a misfire or do I have the change all of them.
Hey Bud, is this a 4 banger or a V6? And also, no need to replace all the coils if you have a single cylinder misfire
@@OnlineMechanicTips v6...
@Leroy King. V6 transverse mounted car for fwd... #3 is in the back center. U can just change the one coil but you might be chasing ghost. Worth a shot in my opinion.
The problem on a 3.6, is the problem will come back later 😢. Stay away from Mopar. ❤
Who in the fuck puts cam phases on a car for a misfire😂
Pastastay
3.6l pentastar rough idle fixed swap in a honda or toyota motor lol jk
So i blew my head block and its for my challenger which I want to keep for a long time. If i want the best result, should the mechanic just replace the header? He's recommending I get a jasper engine which are remanufactured. Not sure what to do. =(
