Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm thrilled the video answered some of your questions about irises. Science is all about curiosity, so it's a joy to dive into topics that spark wonder for all of us.
🎉My current favorite iris is Iris Perle by Les Indemodables At first impression it looks green and a bit like some excluzif chanel (maybe Rue cambon…)but it is softened by flowers and aromatic herbs it is powdery but still fresh and wearable iris absolute is of high quality feminine elegant fragrance 🎉About Splendiris Dusita - I like her It's not as strict and serious as Houbigant Iris, for example. there is something vintage dusty and fluffy in it, but I also smell sweet fresh violets and lots of leaves and petals swimming in the dish for washing later, here is the smell of old lipsticks and powders, but not animalistic or suffocating …more fresher and gentler . 🎉also really like Prada infusion iris everything has been said about this classic I love her in bed at night
And i forgot Maria, you should also try Durga lots of iris butter, like chalk fickle that is sometimes very bitter with green tuberose and chrysanthemum plus lots of orris butter But melon gives it a little sweetness overall it's a bit of a graveyard scent
Wow, what a beautifully detailed and poetic breakdown of some truly stunning iris fragrances! Your descriptions are so evocative, and Prada Infusion d’Iris is a timeless classic indeed.Thank you for sharing your fragrant journey-your passion for iris really shines through.
Thank you for this very informative video about Iris!! I also loved the association of iris with a philosophical concept and mood, being on the mountain and writing your memoirs, I also believe that Iris has an introverted attitude, and at the same time an introspective and intellectual feel to it! I have many fragrances with Iris that I love, I usually prefer the dainty, ethereal, earthy, powdery, natural smelling aesthetic of this note rather than the lipstick versions. My favorites are: Iris by le Galion, Feminin Pluriel MfK, visionary eye by Jusbox, Per Se 27 87, Bois Farine l Artisan, Volkamaria Wienerblut! Thank you 💜🙏🏽
Thank you so much for this thoughtful and beautifully written comment! I love how deeply you've connected with the idea of iris as both a fragrance note and a philosophical concept-it really does seem to invite introspection and creativity, doesn't it? Your list of favorites is fantastic; I especially appreciate how you've described the "dainty, ethereal, earthy" quality you prefer. It's such a poetic way to capture the character of iris in its more natural forms. I’ll have to revisit some of these with your perspective in mind. Thank you for sharing your insights and for watching-it means so much!
I have an iris butter bomb from Baruti, I love it, but I know it's not everybody's cup of tea. It's called Dama Koupa extract. I also love à fleur de peau from Diptyque but it's a completely different vibe..
I love iris in Musc des Sables Les Indémodables. As also Vanille d’Iris Ormonde Jayne, unfortunately discontinued. Dior Homme Parfum, enjoy this one when it is colder outside. The one I’m longing for so much is Iris Ganache Guerlain. Aaahh.. Btw i love Atelier Cologne and have few older bottles (Vanille Insensee, Vetiver Fatal, Rose Anonyme and Santal Carmin). Had a small decant of Iris but never had a chance for a proper wear.
Thank you for sharing your incredible lineup! Your love for iris really shines through-such a versatile and emotive note.It sounds like you have a beautifully curated fragrance wardrobe. Keep savoring those moments; scent has such a magical way of connecting us to memories and emotions.
Never actually invested in the true orris butter myself, but I've always found the note uniquely elegant when used in modest doses. Like the less volatile and floral version of sandalwood to smooth out obvious transitions. Interestingly, I recently got to try Iris Silver Mist from a friend's collection and it definitely reminded me a bit of MM's L'Attesa, which I adore. Pretty sure I won't be getting a bottle though. Always love hearing your insights Maria. 💜
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts-what a beautifully articulated comparison! Orris is such a fascinating material, isn’t it? I completely agree about its elegant, grounding quality, but I understand the hesitation to commit to a bottle-sometimes just experiencing them is enough. I’m so glad you enjoyed the video!
Ok, thinking of my collection.... My go-to iris: Iris des Champs by Houbigant Easy Reach - Sonic Flower by Room 1015 Ambery-powdery goodness: Violet Ida by Miller Harris The only gourmand one I can tolerate so far: Iris Malikhân by Maison Crivelli I haven't tried the Dusita one, but I've been interested in trying it. Thanks for the video!!
Thanks for sharing your thoughtful lineup-what a beautifully curated collection! If you do get around to exploring the Dusita iris, I’d love to hear your thoughts-it has such a unique personality. Thanks for watching and for your lovely comment!
I look with concern at the rest of my ten-year-old Daim Blonde, just adore it. Unusual and everyday appropriate, elegant and narrative. It's a pity that they are now only in bells - big, pricey and terribly uncomfortable. On the other hand, I don't feel it on myself after an hour or two, although others do. Perhaps this is a sign to change my favorite) But in fact, it is very difficult to find a suede-apricot scent that would be so beautiful and calming. All the proposed analogues are without this astringent apricot pit, unfortunately.
What a beautifully detailed reflection-your love for Daim Blonde really shines through. It’s true, there’s something so nostalgic and grounding about a scent that feels like "home." That suede-apricot combination is rare magic, and I completely get how hard it is to let go of a favorite that feels so uniquely "you." Maybe this is an opportunity to explore and rediscover something new that still carries that calming elegance you adore. Scent journeys can be bittersweet, but who knows-you might stumble upon a hidden gem that surprises you. Thank you for sharing your thoughts so thoughtfully.
Iris flowers do have a scent, but it's a ghostly evanescent presence ... wafting into the room unnannounced. Cut iris flowers and put in a vase. Sit back ...
My favorite Iris, is Heeley- Iris de nuit. An ethereal, floating iris. It has that hint of veiled dewy/morning mist quality that Iris Silver Mist by Serge Lutens has. But it does not have the stark metallic note, and instead smells more ethereal vs ice cold. Like very early morning fog and dew, a lilac sheer gown, bare feet treading in the morning mist. I'd say almost feminine due to its delicate nature, yet still very genderless. Like a surrounding, not a person. Also lovely for bed time. I really dislike Chanel 19, hah!
What a beautifully vivid description-your words paint such an atmospheric picture!Heeley’s Iris de Nuit sounds like poetry in a bottle. As for Chanel No. 19, I get it-its green, sharp edges can be polarizing for some. Perfume is so personal, and that's what makes conversations like this so interesting. Thank you for sharing your take-it’s always a treat to hear how others experience these olfactory works of art!
Just tried out iris silver mist and it was great but a bit expensive. If heeley’s is similar I should definitely try it out. Does it smell lipstick-y or drier/ powdery?
My favorite Iris in an end result of a perfume is Dior Homme Intense batch of 2012. With every choice that we have on the market it still is my favorite Iris derived concoction . On another note have your heard of Mona di Orio closing it doors for good ?
Thank you for sharing your thoughts-Dior Homme Intense 2012 is a true classic. It’s fascinating how certain fragrances stay with us no matter how many options we explore. As for Mona di Orio, yes, I did hear the news. It’s always bittersweet when a house with such artistry closes its doors...
1. Valentino Uomo Intense 2. Givenchy gentlemen Privee 3. Givenchy gentlemen EDT Intense 4. Narciso Rodriguez bleu noir Parfum I know those might seem basic to some but at first I didn't even like the note of iris 🍻
Great list! Iris can definitely be a polarizing note at first, but it’s amazing how our noses evolve over time. Those are some solid choices-proof that "basic" can also mean timeless and well-loved. Cheers to your fragrance journey!
Thank you. Everything we wanted to know about iris, but there was no one to do a research work for us. 😊
