Hi, I’m just getting into block printing and am looking for the best ink to be used on cotton fabric, manual block printing, no press at hand. The “best” ink would be based on ease of use, quality of the print and of course durability when washing. How well does the oil based Gamblin release ink hold up when washing clothes?

I hand-printed a shirt two years ago with Gamblin relief ink in sepia and was able to get a good print. It’s been worn, machine washed and dried very often (probably 2-3 times a month since) and hasn’t shown signs of fading yet.

I sculpted my first horse head today, and wow your channel gives me so much inspiration. I do have one question though, do I have to use a wire for my sculptures, or would a skeleton of tin foil and hot glue work? I just hate using wire I makes me angry, idk how but I always find ways to cut myself, or break something. Wire hates me. TvT

By all means, if a process is frustrating you, absolutely feel free to experiment to find what works better! You can definitely try an all-aluminum foil armature, and if you ever need it to be more rigid, using a thicker, heavy duty foil may be enough to get a similar support. Hope that helps and wishing you all the fun with your projects!

I did! The Blue Mountain Stable username served me well for years, yet the change I feel makes it easier to share more of my hobby adventures going forward
