Here's the facts, from the girl that interviewed "Cheap Trick" in 1977 at 20 yrs. young. This was probably one of my first interviews ever, and my first interview with a famous band. Since the early 90's I have hosted/produced a TV and Radio (LATalkRadio) talk show called "Out of the Blue" on animals, the environment & spirituality. Now, 38 yrs. after the interview with Cheap Trick, I believe I am an ass-kickin' interviewer. So watch the stones you through May bounce back and hit you!😇
Rick is such a visionary. Even then he knew that most of their fans would come from Amazon. How did he know in the 70's that fans would get their music from Amazon? Amazing ;)
Not a bad interview, IMO. You'll have to forgive the written notes - this was before every little podunk station had teleprompters. The interviewer obviously did at least some research before the interview and tried to roll with the non sequitors. She was outnumbered and tried to think on her feet, and actually got some interesting questions out. I think Rick was channelling Lennon and felt he had to answer every question with a witty quip.
How sad and pathetic ....you have to make fun of someone who you know nothing about, in order to build up your own self worth and ego..Deirdre is a caring beautiful person inside and out.Next time someone says something about you that is untrue and hurts remember Karma comes in a full circle.
This always makes me laugh! Love how she answers her own questions...I thought Robin was the ballroom dancer. He looks bored shitless. Lucky Bun E. is out of shot most of the time, he is probably asleep :P
Same old mindless questions, zero creativity, inspires a flat-line brain activity. On the other hand an off the cuff, spontaneous interview is so novel that you hardly see them. Same thing over and over, no matter what band - ya still hear every dumbfuck ask Mick or Keith how long the Stones are gonna stay together, what about the Beatles, blah, blah, blah....
I grew up on the Elvis, The Beatles, and The Beach Boys. When I heard "Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, they just seem a little weird" blasting from my big sisters bedroom when I was a kid in '78 I lost my shit.
I had lotsa fun watching this. A Kane interview by a cute girl. Rock being so nice, tom bored as hell, Robin peeking at her notes and BunE. Just getting along ..
It always amazed me that CT would never acknowledge their Rockford Ill. roots in most of their early day interviews. They must have thought such association would not help them market their image. Now they don't seem to mind but you start to mellow out when you get into your sixties as many of them have. They have had a Rockford base since they started but always associated geographical allegiance to Chicago. Rockford is NOT Chicago but has its own history & identification.
Rick still lives here. He loves his hometown. I think maybe it was an easy answer. He's actually a really good guy. They all are. Bun still lives here too and hangs at a local bar during the week. They're extremely hometown proud and they definitely belong to us🤗👑
'I don't know about you guys, but I always wanted to perform in front of a camera!' Rick checks his watch to see if he has time after the show, haha 9:10
@Berus7777 polite to an extent. LOL. Robin talks over her mouthing something to Tom at 3:27( LOVE IT...hee hee), that's not polite. He lip reads her notes while she reads out loud, looks at her notes while she looks away, what else....hmmm. He is just naughty. Can't say I would have been much better or worse sitting through the torture. Watch it again. It is hilarious! Tom politely calls her out. Rick is Rick. Bun E. may be trying not to laugh out loud or he is stunned or both.
@reburos --ha! That is funny, isn't it. Back in the 'Sick Man of Europe' days they would sometime say they were from Madison, and, occasionally, Philly, ... but you've gotta admit, they really give props to Rockford these days. I was born and raised in Rockford, and lived there for 40 years, but finally had to leave. It ain't safe anymore.
Tim. YOU LIAR!!!!!! You said you had never listened to Fuse and here it is in black and white! You otta be ashamed of yourself!!!! Oh sorry for the mispelling. How rude of me. Next thing you know I'll be chewing gum. How rebellious!! Subversive even!

WoW! This lady is about as bright as a cave, and just as dense! Good thing she was wearing a low cut shirt and was cute. I hear coke was pretty damn good back in the 70's. I love it how Robin informs her that she has 4 minutes. Obviously she didn't take the hint that it was four minutes of hell that they had to endure.
I kept waiting for a flicker of comprehension that the band members were obviously pulling the interviewer's leg but it never happened. The lights were on but nobody was home.
Evidently they didn't develop social skills until later on in life. (These days, they're quite fun to to listen to.) At this point in their career, I think a valid question would have been, If you're going to be this aloof, why do any press at all?? I kinda think Rick was putting on an act.
Excellent band I've seen them 53 times including 3trickfests ,if you never saw them put them on your bucketlist, and be up front to get a rick pic, goodnite now ladies and gentlemen
I am a big fan of Cheap Trick. Rick often says his parents were opera singers. Is that really true or is it another one of his many jokes? He even called Sydney Opera house his "apartment"... In one of their songs there is a melody from "Il Trovatore" by Giuseppe verdi. Because I am a classical singer that is very amusing to me. In this interview Rick is telling so many jokes and questionable "facts". Now we can laugh about it but was that a "cheap trick"? I presume he was a naughty child. I really believed that Bun.E. was born in Venezuela. Was that also a "cheap trick"? Anyway, I love them and Cheap Trick forever!
This is a time where the band really could/should have taken control of a very bad/embarrassing interview. Come on, Cheap Trick - you're professionals - take over and talk to your fans!
Now, I know y'all are tired of my comments here. LOL. I love all the guys in Cheap Trick. Everyone one of them. They were one of the if not the first concert I ever attended. In this interview though, I kind of felt that Rick was patronizing. Sorry.

Because he is from venuzuela in south America...das where de Amazon is
Great footage and rare until now. Thanks!
My High School years!!
This is the best worst interview I ever saw. I loved it
Robin on one side. Tom on the other. Two classic hotties, nice, humble, great musicians - the complete package. I love Cheap Trick.
Yeah. They can play too!! ❤😂
This was so early in CT's career, that nobody could warn poor Deirdre that she wouldn't get a straight answer from this group.
They started in ROCKFORD!!!!!!Ricks dad owned Nielson's music on 7th street.
It's like Aerosmith being a Boston band
so beautiful
Best look of a band ever and thats saying a lot... 2 nerdy guys and two 70s lounge lizard pin up boys...just well played by CT
