"Lot of people have covered that song (gimme some truth) "NOT LIKE CHEAP TRICK".....great to see this !! one of my favorite bands...seen many times....kids, they are LOUD...never forget Austin 93 South by Southwest.....growing up in late 70's...this was THE TOP American band , along with KISS and Aerosmith....GREAT BAND...glad to see on Jonesy's Jukebox!
Can't wait for the new music! Listened to Christmas Christmas yesterday, to me that is a all season album. Saw CT at Naperville HS in 76, remember driving in Aurora Il in 77 listening to In Color and the debut self titled on a Pioneer super tuner 8-track with Jensen coaxial speakers in my Nova....... Can never get enough Cheap Trick😎 Rock on guys!
I've seen Cheap Trick probably a dozen times, because we lived near Rockford, IL (Hometown Boys !!) One time it was at the Rockford Armory with the opening band, Ace (How Long?), Then Cheap Trick, Then Rush. (!) I mean what a great night (!!!) It was 1974 or 1975. We were standing about 5 people back from the stage to the left. It was a Great performance. During Rush we stepped back to the back of the Armory because the sound was ear piercing and as we watched Rush, Robin and Rick walked right in front of us. Rick was wearing a full length fur coat, saddle shoes, and a beanie and holding a pennant. (!!!!)
saw cheap trick '79 in melb... apparently they were supposed to have.. a) had the biggest PA melb had ever heard... and b) the loudest concert volume ever played in melb... could've been bullshit....but my ears were ringing for a day afterwards and i was about 30 mtrs from the speaker stack... was a good show
I remember when Cheap Trick was big in the late 70's. Now they get just 20 thousand views on UA-cam while these fake vloggers like Mcjuggernuggets and Lance Stewart get millions of views on UA-cam. I don't get how people can watch fakers and liars; to me , I find fakers and liars boring.
I'm just a couple minutes in and holy crap they sound like they're either just ready to fall asleep, or they aren't quite woke up yet. Jones sounds flubby and tired. And that's from a guy who LOVES both of the bands these guys represent!
This must be a trip for Daxx, hanging out with these elderly rockers. The pacing and tone is completely different for oldsters. As I age, I find myself more and more in love with older rockers. They still put out the goods. Summer!
First time I heard the Sex Pistols, I thought they sounded just like (wait for it)-- CHEAP TRICK! So, yeah, I think Rick Nielsen and Steve Jones are extremely similar in the kind of power chords they play
I can't get into their music without Bun. With Bun, they were my fav band since '79. They lied about betraying Bun to their fans and now they have a song about truth. Lennon spoke out about politics. The song suits him. CT seems fake doing that awesome song. Last I looked, they didn't even allow political talk on their site. Not talking about politics is part of the problem that got us in a mess.
Duff Baker ~ Since the corrupt, few on top who are making the decisions that are decreasing our standard of living and taking away our rights want an uninformed and compliant citizenry, they share your view. We need to stand up for ourselves, not enable oligarchs.
It is refreshing to hear someone who loves the band speak honestly about Bun E. I stopped seeing them a few years ago after a 30-year-run. No Bun E, then they won't get my money, and I am damn serious.
TRUE! I mean, c'mon! Listen to the topics they are covering. Stuff that involves sitting in a recliner watching TV. Jones should prepare at least a LITTLE. He doesn't have suitable topics, and he hasn't done any research. I love Jones' guitar work, and I love Cheap Trick, but this interview is a real SNOOZEFEST!
3/4 of Cheap Trick is not Cheap Trick. No Bun, no fun; no Bun E, no money! Boycott these guys until Bun E Carlos returns to his rightful place behind the drum kit. I've been seeing them since the 70s and I have nothing against Rick's son who is a very good drummer. But they seriously need Bun E.
Curious if you’ve ever heard their debut album or the next 3…97 CD and the one before that WUWAM? And if you’ve never seen them Live, your really missing out 🙌☺️
These guys are timeless and priceless ♥
Cheap Trick is by far the hardest working band in America.
Joe Morgan after all that work you'd think they would've improved , though
I just saw Cheap Trick on Wednesday the 11th, 2021 at the Pacific Amphitheatre, and they rocked, with new fury.
@@joenevis2757 Awesome 👍
I agree 100%. I’ve said the very same thing myself!!!!!!
When the camera is on Daxx, Robin and Rick, my eyes seem to see nothing and no one but Robin. 💘 Thanks for posting this interview.
Cheap Trick has always Kicked Ass 😇❤️
Love those guys.
From Rockford, Illinois ----- R 'n' R H of fame members Cheap Trick!! :-)

I thought it was just me! I Play Christmas Christmas all year long!!
Mendoza Family hell yes! Run, Run, Rudolph😎 Every night and everyday😀
The way Jones talks and laughs sounds like my grandpa . He even has the same sense of humor. I miss my grandpa.
"You play a lot of Beatle chords"
A succinct and accurate rationale. Brilliant!
What great guys! Like their sound, too!
I like rolling up the Wool-o and getting all schmoked up while listening to Cheap Tricks
Very cool! New songs are solid.

Buzzy'sHelper. Got the opportunity to open three shows for cheap trick in the late eighties in Sydney Australia, Great Memories and Great Band!!
luv this!!
I like that the kid is on his phone. Bring back Bun!!!
so is Robin,and Rick
Incredible
Amazing stuff at the end of the interview.

Can't wait to see Cheap Trick in the UK later this year. Totally not bothered about Def Leppard, got tickets just to see this band.
Very funny. I bet they had heaps of hilarious stories.
ha ha...love this!
Rick is one of the greatest players ever! All you players out there just try to play a CT song!
Neilson is timeless, like Bogey.
still the best live rock and roll band in the country, probably the world.
ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS
I want to hear the version of Gimme some truth...
The12stringbassist I

Daxx grew up with those elderly rockers. One of them is his dad. The other has pretty much been an uncle to him all of his life.
No Tom or mention of his absence? :-(
Minghia? What are they referring to? 21:20
“Summer looks good on you” is a great tune. Very CT sounding.
Hat day at the Box!
I'm mostly happy to see Rick in apparently good health .He dont' play on stage since many weeks .
First time I heard the Sex Pistols, I thought they sounded just like (wait for it)-- CHEAP TRICK! So, yeah, I think Rick Nielsen and Steve Jones are extremely similar in the kind of power chords they play
Only 25 minutes for Cheap Trick??
I miss Jonsey's Jukebox.
6:40 - Rick Nielsen's voice kind of reminds me of Yes' Jon Anderson's, just a bit deeper :-)
Oh no, nothing like Jon Anderson !
Joanies duke box
the question is, did Jonesy ever play on it?
Yeah, album's out - plays on the proposed track. But where is Jonesy these days?
@@totallypiste hes still in the usa! doing a bit of this and a bit of that;-)
Air Studios is Up For Sale 😵
Love Cheap Trick! Too bad Robin is still married.
caught the Reno show.
Hat day?
Hahah
alright
Surrender, I don't have to say anymore
Cheap trick love the move elo ,Jeff Lynne Roy wood , not a bad thing .
Dax daydreaming about a Hot Doug's pizza at PIECE. ;)
'Downed', 'Elo Kiddies', 'Come On, Come On' ...killer
GUESS YOUR WEIGHT? GOOD TITLE FOR CD
Shame he didn't ask about playing on Lennon's album.
their cuts never made it on the final album of double fantasy. but they were in some sessions.
Rick hates U2 :)
the only guy drinking water is that guy who never spoke and of course the best "give some truth" was by Generation X!

Celebrities not talking about politics is actually quite refreshing these days. Good for Cheap Trick- they ain't stupid, that's for sure.

I want them to play music and talk of their history. No need to ruin things with people and their self-important ramblings.
Daxx looks so bored

Rob Burgess how would you feel if you had to work for your dad
JC Haywire snoozefest like their last few albums
He looks guilty for trying to be Bun E.
U2 are the most overrated band in the history of pop music.
It's all personal opinion. I think you're a dick: am I correct? Opinions
Daxx might as well have stayed home.....for what little input he put into this ..
Love Cheap Trick, but this interview was boring as hell.
id suggest it is you thats boring as hell, it was great

Daxx deserves the job! I saw them 8 times with him it's like a classic buick car with a great modern engine he rocks so does Robin Taylor zander!
Nah, it’s still cheap trick. If Robin wasn’t there, I’d probably change my mind.
The problem was between Robin and Bun E. As much as I miss Bun E, Robin wins.
steve looks wasted !!!!!
Never got into Cheap Trick. Seem a bit weak. Corny music.
Curious if you’ve ever heard their debut album or the next 3…97 CD and the one before that WUWAM?
