  • I have had plenty of heated tarp shelters in the past. Most out of some kind of nylon that can be flammable. The one in this video is 100% flame proof canvas with a carbon fiber blanket for a chimney.

    Another masterpiece from the bushcraft master! Thanks for this video Dave. This setup gives way more protection from wind and rain than the average tarp & log reflector method. This allows you to keep your fuel under cover and protected as well. The small fire doesn’t require a ton of fuel for the same heating effect. Easy to keep the fire stoked during night too. My wife has brain cancer and had stroke in July so I’m doing my adventuring thru you. When not at work I take care of her so hiking is not an option right now. Thank you and all the other great bushcraft channels for letting me venture out with you. It is a réal blessing to me. On the edge of my seat waiting on the next video!

    Humble and funny. Thank you for letting us come along with you as you try things for the first time or improve on something you are developing, Dave!
    Who else does this? I don't know but we are so glad to have such a good-natured man to bring us along and allow us to see how things work and don't work. lol.
    As you improve and develop equipment, ( like your bike trailer,) it helps us to understand and troubleshoot along with you and develop critical thinking skills in tight situations with a smile and a chuckle. A good attitude in a man, who doesn't take himself too seriously, is one of the most important survival skills anyone could build and possess, especially when times could be tense like a bugout situation.
    I am from London, Ontario, Canada, but I feel like we're neighbors.
    PS. I have to admit that I sometimes just watch you because I need to be around good people and you cheer and brighten my day. We live in a dark world, some more than others, and it is good to know that there is a good neighbor and friend to call on when you need a taste of what the world could and should be.

    Having a heated tarp system will make sleeping so much better. I read where American Indians had a simple fix for ridding the teepee of smoke. They put the teepee up with the small opening at the top, but stopping 2-3 feet from the ground, and a "skirt" (about 4 feet high) inside the teepee two feet from the outer skin and parallel to the outer skin. Wind comes in from ground level under the outside skin, hits the "skirt" and the air is directed upward. The opening at the top creates a draft pulling the smoke out the top. Ingenious, simple and highly effective. They had a fire in the middle of the teepee. I don't know if this method would work with a smaller tarp setup, but for sleeping 6 or more people it is the only way to fly. I wish someone would recreate this setup. My health won't allow it, but I would if I could. Thanks for taking so much of your time making great videos for us. I appreciate it. Happy New Year!

    I've always thought one of your most clever inventions was to put the loops on the tarps so you can slide poles into the loops and carry things. I also loved your little L rods that you made which you use to hold up other rods for a grill or to close a tent. You a very smart man! Thanks!

    My brother, it's been awhile since I've checked in, and of course you are still amazing, I've exhausted myself in the political arena and needed some relief, so where else would I go ? I know you are all about fun with bushcraft and its part of your charm. For most of your viewers/fans ++ I suspect it is why they tune in and disappear for a moment,ignoring that God awful screech of the city , giving peace in a lifetime of war. Your ingenuity and creative juices flowing like a river and that twang your voice carries, could tame the average beast. You know, I once saw Elvis Presley do an interview one time and they kept asking him many political questions and he replied, " sir Im just an entertainer, I cannot form an opinion on this for public content." I'm not that good of a man and so every once in a while I cross a line that I shouldn't. I hope you forgive me, and continue what you do for us all. I love you my brother, and I so appreciate not only your dedication, but that of your families to allow us to borrow you from time to time, that goes way beyond bushcraft.

      @Reallybigmonkey1  4 роки тому

      Brother Joe what you said about Elvis fits perfect. People come here to hear about bushcraft, camping and outdoors. This is where folks can come chill out. Too much drama, politics, drama and controversy in the world now. Sometimes ya just gotta chill. Take care brother Joe

    I was thinking the same thing David.
    An A frame tent with a cone made from a welding blanket on the end.
    Or some kind of fireplace, made with carbon fiber rods & cloth..
    Keep On Keepin On David, Love your ideas. Don`t stop dreaming.
    Thank You for sharing your video and your shelter idea with us. ATB

    You’re the man Dave. A lot of time must have went into fabricating that chimney ring before it hung on the wall. Of course you found an alternate use for it. You must get requests from people to make them stuff constantly. Thanks as always sir. I’m a machinist too but you take it to a whole different level with all the perfect welds and even sewing. You make the rest of us look bad lol.

    • @Reallybigmonkey1
