Ya gotta' love Nick. He adds that special something to the videos. Typical teen at the time. And it's all great. I'm pretty sure Dave wouldn't have it any other way. No matter what, it's a great day when your son will be by your side and go on the adventure with you. I salute all you Dads out there that take the time to do outdoors with your children. There are no better memories. Trust me on that.
I'm currently having a great time going back through some of your old videos. I'm loving your new quick build take on the old Sammi lavvu - pure genius. Much food for thought about how to make life more comfortable when out in the wilds. Many thanks for your efforts.
As soon as I get my Phd in engineering from MIT I will try this. Seriously, I am addicted to your hilariously entertaining projects.. A relief to see Nick is a chip off the old block.
Love to see you & your son together... memories you are making him for life. God bless you both! Love your videos.... thanks so much for taking the time for us! Come on up to NY and do one in the snow!
Thanks, I'm glad you like em all Earl. Man that would be cool to see NY. Ive never been further north than Indiana! Thanks for watching and may God bless you too!
Another awesome addition to the library of videos. I think it's so great that you and Nick are able to have these special moments together. God bless, stay safe, and always enjoy your time together.
Thanks again Dave for such a wonderful video! I REALLY love seeing you and your son enjoying the great outdoors and each other's company! I wish I had videos of my Dad and I and our family on our many camping trips and outdoor fishing exploring trips...what a wonderful gift to pass on to your children and your grandchildren! Enjoy it while you and yours can, life will never be the same again sooo cherish it while you and yours can! May the Good Lord Bless you and yours and safe camping, bushcrafting to you and yours ALWAYS!!!
You are very welcome and I'm happy you liked it! I guess most folks go camping and the last thing on their minds is filming it all. I wished I could have filmed some of the guys I used to camp with. Thanks for watching and may God bless you too brother
Dave: we've watched Nick grow up from a precocious boy to a confident, talented, handsome young man. Nice to see him included personally in the videos. He is funny without being a smart allack. Hope you've taught him how to gas weld, TIG and MIG weld. Who knows where he's going in the future. You and your family are raising a wonderful young man. As for the ingenious tent/fire pot setup: pure Dave!
Thank you. He has grown up and turned out great. I'm proud of him and hopefully he will do well and go far. Thanks for the comments and thanks for watching!
Now this is a base camp!! I wish I had this when I was younger and deer hunting in the snow. Just goes to prove you can make things yourself and now spend a fortune just to enjoy the outdoors. Thumbs up Dave!
You, sir, are a national treasure. These videos are getting me through the quarantine right now. I think this one is my favorite of your inventions so far, but I still have many more of your videos to go.
It is really great to see someone having ideas and trying them out. That’s the only way to learn. Do it, then see what worked and what needs to change. Love it.
Great vids as always David!! Nick, you are blessed to have a Dad like this... it is increasingly more rare these days. My Dad was/is like this too, and I never knew until I was older that most people don't get these experiences growing up. People like my Dad and your Dad inspire me to be a better Dad for my two daughters, who went on their first real backpacking trip last year. Cheers, Boys!!!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it Derek. Man great to hear your Dad was like this. It is rare for these types of experiences and relationships to happen these days. Fantastic you are doing the same with your girls! Thanks for watching
This is a GREAT one! You wrapped a " AIN'T THAT NEAT VIDEO " with your son Nick giving it to you with both barrels in a good natured family ribbing style. Thanx guy's!
Cool! The idea of the 🔥 being higher than you, saves you from a lot of smoke. I learned that the hard way. Found a nice shelf on a cliff, that's where I'll sleep. With the fire beneath me. Well... Great upload thx.
Hey brother David,it was so very nice to see you and Nick together again. We have watched that boy grow up and become a man,and from what I can tell,a very good young man indeed. Like always,I really enjoyed your video and your very thoughtful inventions. You & Nick keep up the good work, and May the Good Lord bless and keep you and your family. Randy
Hello Randy! It's always great to be out here with Nick, and it is cool how Nick has grown from 12 years old to 19 on here. Take care, thanks for watching and may God bless you and your family
I love how real this video is, real guys out in the woods just being themselves no showboating or product placement just real life, and important information. I can't wait to watch your other videos and so far I'm a big fan
A tip for the pot/kettle holding wire. Invert the wire, putting the loops at the top. One you don't burn your hands on the fire, when lifting the kettle to a new position, and the excess wire is not in the way. What is that fire blanket made of? I like Nick' shirt. As always, a great video. Just remember:- Your memory is excellent, it has not failed you yet, the only things you cannot remember, are the things you forget.
Funny you mentioned that, this set up was built six months ago and put on the shelf. I got it out and filmed and camped in it and completely forgot I designed it for the cables to be at the top! The fire blanket is just a fiberglass welders blanket. Thanks for watching Terry.
My favorite shelter yet. I had a three tree Teepee I built as a teen and spent most of my summer there. This has so much room and very efficent. Thanks for the videos. You and Nick get me so tickled. This shelter gave me some ideas to use at the family camp and plenty of room for my cot to fit with space to stretch. Dave you make things fun and let us laugh at ourselves.
awesome setup. One thing though, You might wanna flip the last cable upside down, and attach it up top with one of the loops and a hook, then use the fixed hook for your pot..that way you can adjust the height and not have any "extra" cable hanging down into the fire Also, I loved your video about the tarp tent with a fire place made with sticks and a fire blanket, gonna try that one out soon, thanks!
I built this set up about six months ago and stuck it on the shelf. I pulled it down to camp and film and completely forgot that I did indeed design it for the loops to be at the top.
"Peek a Boo" just an example of the humor of your videos. Interesting but a lot more prep required than I would care to do especially with some of the simpler designs that you have shown. Love your channel.
3 signs of getting old. 1. You need glasses. 2. You start to forget things. 3. Your son carries the bigger ruck. ;) Greetings from Germany from an old bald guy with glasses.
Nick sure has grown over the past couple of years (seems he might be getting a bit obstinate too!!!). I'm sure he's a good kid (every once in awhile 😉). Just remember to tell Nick that "You didn't forget the hole in the tarp (this time 🤣). I thoroughly enjoy watching the videos with Nick in them. Seems that Y'all have a wonderful relationship. I hope it stays that way for many, many years to come. Thanks for the great videos Dave and keep'em coming!!!
Yay! Happy Friday! A new video from David 😊 awesome! This is very clever, as usual 😊 I could see where you were going with this one immediately.. Lol thanks for sharing it with us! The hardware you assembled for the top ring and fire pan were great.. I've been checking out different types and gauges of chain to carry in some of my kits.. I have some of that cable already too 😁 .. I found a really interesting looking pot at goodwill a couple days ago.. I thought of you immediately!! Lol I'll have to put together a care package for you with all the weird odds and ends I've found, just to see what you come up with 😜 thanks again for the video Hon, always nice to see Nick get out with you too! Talk to you soon!
LOL, Thanks Ruth! I'm glad you liked it. Aint it a great feeling to find something just awesome or one of a kind at Goodwill? I love care packages! Thanks for watching
It is so refreshing to see such humble, good natured people about. Very encouraging. As far as content, this channel is very good. easy listening, good humor presentations, practical and easy to assimilate instruction and information. . . .And David, Nick has your 'HEY EVERYBODY" line down really good. Very funny!
I love your videos. You remind me of my brother. We grew up with his weird, crazy and sometimes useful inventions. Just like you, he created all kind of things in the woods and everywhere else possible. We had a good size working ranch, but also farmed our own foods vegetables and meats. Our family learned to work hard but played hard too. The ranch was a place the whole town felt comfortable visiting. We grew acres of ribbon cane and every year family, friends and town folk came out to watch the syrup making on the mill my grandfather and dad built. This was the one and only time during the year our big old spoiled rotten horse Nancy worked. Guess she paid her keep walking round and round as the town folk gathered. When the lids were tightly screwed onto each jar my grandmother and her quilting friends made sure they were wiped clean. Pure warm gold is what it was. A hush would fall over the crowd as a line quietly began forming. Dad would tell mother to get enough jars for the 5 of us till the next season and the rest was divided among the others. Everyone went home with a jar or two i assure you. I miss those days. I love that you tell people to get off the couch and make some fun memories. And the woods is the absolute perfect place, especially spending time with family. I have learned some neat things you've shared. Keep doing this. It really does make a difference in others lives. Thanks for your time and efforts.
Thank you so much Debbie and I'm glad you liked the video. Sounds like you had a wonderful child hood! I miss them old times too. We didn't have a ranch but we had a garden and raised chickens and rabbits. That kinda lifestyle is slowly vanishing. Thanks for watching
Awesome video David super inventive nick did a grate job! All keep it short and simple but thank you for your creativity content I'm thankful for coming across your amazing outdoor channel😎🌲🌲
you two are amazing together i wish i had a relationship with my dad like you and nick have .i love your content its amazing learning all these skills from you thanks
If I was shown pictures of various camp set ups there is one thing i would be able to identify every time......Yours!..... your style and craftsmanship is unique to this environment. Reallybigmokey1 at its best, great watch....
Hey Dave,(and Nick), Thanks for making my day sirs,...another good one for the archives... it was good seeing the two of you together spending some outdoors time in the woods...Well Dave, you've taken yet another awesome idea of your mentors, added your own spin, and gave us all something brilliant.Awesome ideas,...I'd have loved to see how the original was cobbled together without the ''Daveisms'' applied, the hubcap idea is just priceless...What minds your camp-mates had,... you were so fortunate to have had the experiences of learning from such talented gurus of the woods. Back in ''the old days'', when I was younger, we would camp a lot as a family, and many times would forget a key item or two...Well, after actually omitting a sleeping bag once, I came up with a simple system...A CHECKLIST !!....I compiled that list and added to it whenever we said ''I sure wish we had a ....." I made about 50 copies, and used it every time we went camping from then on...now, of course the list was huge, and not all things went on all trips, but it was so nice having that check-list to refer to...It made preparations a breeze....( Seems like a no-brainer I know, but so many folks do actually prepare without a list, I'd thought I'd mention it, ) Thanks again for another fun video man...'Till next time, you guys stay healthy, and God's Blessing to you and yours Brother...ATB...CHEERS !!
Hello Steve! I'm glad you liked it brother. Well the set up they had was incredible. They had a hubcap up top with four holes punched in for legs sockets. The used bailing wire to hang another hubcap to hold the fire. Man to them guys, junk was treasure. Everyone needs lists, you just cant remember it all before a trip. Thanks for watching and may God bless you too!
Now that was a great excursion and demo of a fantastic shelter, looks very cosy with the hanging Fire pan, great chemistry with you two also. Congrats on your competition win, well deserved, enjoyed that Fire lighting challenge to, Thanks..
Wonderful video! really enjoyed the father and son banter...none of that yes sir, no sir here....just two friends enjoying life!!! i love the Fire pan and pretty much the whole system...Thanks David and Nick...awesome!...woods
This very important bushcraft channel and the video he’s makes are great way to help people learn about bushcraft activities and education people learning about outdoors and I am glad to support this amazing man and his experience exciting bushcraft channel 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀👍👍🤴🤴🤴🤴🤴🤴🤴🤴🤴
donna pratt, I couldn't agree with you more...Dave's style and the talents he shares are truly one of a kind indeed...I hope all subs remember to like, share, comment and hit that notification, so we can get Dave's channel to 100,000-plus subscribers, he definitely deserves his Silver Play Button...He's earned it....Take care Donna.
I wish I had a friend (woods companion) to share the outdoors with lol I'm a 39 yr old who absolutely adores the outdoors and hunting/fishing. Especially bushcraft which me and my cousin used to call "pioneering " back 20 yrs ago when I had a buddy lol! But anyway it's nice to see you guys hanging out in the woods I can tell it's nice to have that company and u guys enjoy what your doing! Someday soon I'm going to just walk my useless butt into the woods and keep walking until I can't anymore and where I fall, that's where the story ends......
I know, as a general rule of thumb, you don't ever sell any of the things you make but, I sure would like to get my hands on one of those teepee rings. And no, I can't weld. Great idea.
And pretty much the reason its a rule is because I have zero time to make any gear to sell. Believe me, I would love to make gear and sell it but it just wouldn't rake in the money that my full time job makes. Ah who knows tho, maybe one day I can. Im happy you like it Matthew.
you are truly a bushcrafter. I don't get out enough anymore to do that kind of stuff. I sure would like to cuz I've learned quite a bit from you. Thanks!
Hi Dave and Nick. Hey whippersnapper, I loved your shirt! (I can use that term cause I'm that old. Lol). Really enjoyed this setup. I guess I'll be heading to the hardware store. The use of the cable appealed to me. I would like to play with a few different configurations. You always inspire me my friend! It was great seeing both of you together. All the best!
I'll tell you, it's like going back in time seeing Nick! I wouldn't be surprised if someone messaged you two to be in a commercial or movie! I know you here this a lot, but, he sure is the spitting image of you!
Love, love, love your videos! Thanks for sharing! I'm learning so much from you. I love to camp, hike and backpack with my dog, Cooper. I'm going to try and get out there with him a bit more often then I do now. I love Nick's shirt!! Thanks! Vic (Cooper's mom) and Cooper
Howdy!!! Good to see Nick has lost his shyness (much to the chagrin of his father.) Virginia says the fondest memories of Dad were the teasing between the two of them. The best heated shelter with an open fire on U-tube....good job!!! By the way, Virginia loves your new camo (looks like I'm going to be spending more money on a new outfit,) Thanks for the show, Clark and Virginia
Hello Clark and Virginia! Yep, Nicks shyness is long gone. Just like Americas interest in VCRs. Lol. I'm so happy you liked the shelter. That camo its what's known as multi cam or a similar version called Scorpion. Take care and thanks for watching
You guys make a great team! Enjoy! I will be heading out to the state park for some fishing and a little lunch. I plan on using a tarp shelter for a wind break. I won’t forget my flashlight, saw or ax, Nick. Thanks.
Hello Dave and Nick!! Loved this video. You must not have bad winters in Georgia. We had a pastor of our church from Georgia once. It was so funny when it came about a foot of snow here in Va. to watch his family. They were so happy because they said it didn't snow in Georgia. I personally absolutely HATE snow. Think his name was Preacher Renew. We really loved him. As a mother to you Dave, "Don't forget your light!". LOL. Really, really loved the tent style setup. The inside fire pan and cooking is a brilliant idea. Take care now and love you both.
Hello Rebecca! I'm happy you liked it but sad you hate snow. Lol. You're correct tho, we rarely ever get snow in Georgia. Take care and thanks for watching
OMG, Nick cracked me up with that "Hey everybody" impression! Congrats on winning the knife! Dang Dave, I'd save up some pennies to buy one of those tent rings being on a retirement pay! This was probably one of your best ideas! Maybe show the umbrella attachment next time n how you reinforced the tarp top. What was the tarp dimensions?
LOL, man I had no idea Nick was gonna do that! I'm glad you liked it. All the umbrella thing was is a common umbrella with the handle smashed off and it sticks in a hole. That big tarp is a 19 X 21. Thanks for watching
Great Video as usual, I really appreciate the way you show the honesty of how not everything goes as planned like some of the "Reality" TV show guys do!! It's refreshing. Glad to see Nick back on the camera, hope he's doing well in College.. Thanks again Dave, will be sharing this in multiple places!!! See Ya in the next one
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it Michael and thanks for the shares! Man I keep it real and want to be known for keeping it real. Good or bad. Nick is doing well in college. Thanks for watching
Another great video Dave. Hope you and Nick had a wonderful Christmas. Finialy after all the time I have been watching your videos and gathering me gear so I can go out. I am now a proud owner of a Mora. Got one of them because of all the ones you have shown and your glowing recomendations. I can say this, it is sharp. But looking forward to praticing making feathers and notches soon with it.
Thanks Nathan, I'm glad you liked it. Yes, we had a great Christmas. Man that's fantastic you got a Mora! Youre gonna be hooked on Mora for life. Thanks for watching
Dave, Nice work. Like that you can have a fire in the shelter, with a pretty simple design. Odd seeing you make a shelter without several hanks of rope. You should have hidden Nick's flashlight! Take care.
You sure do have really good tricks and ideas for the back country. But is hard to go about your own life and responsibilities, make a video, and teach at the same time. Great video, you guys are very entertaining to watch, and still learn. God bless you.
Hey Guys, i just wanted to say that Nick, pull a great "HEY EVERYBODY" I understand thats is your intro, but it just got better Nick... Keep up the good work, is nice to see a Pops and Son, Bushcraft video....
Reallybigmonkey1 It was totally cool, like looking at young version of you.... Also, i'm going to take this opportunity to thank you, for being more conscience about not harming live trees.. If you love Nature, Love is what you'll get in return every time You two are AWESOME! keep doing what you are doing, don't change a thing..
Wow what a video! And what a channel, you guys got a lot going on over here👍 I love the camera personality you guys have and how well you play off one another! You can truly see the bond between you💪👍
Love the video Dave regards the fire pan could you make steel mesh pan fixed just above the first pan so that ash could drop through the fire might might burn better same as the solo stove just a thought love the father and son banter ,Ps Dave give Nick a bigger pack tell him you are building his muscles up for him then you just have to think about filming see if he falls for it , looking forward to your next one , All the Best.
Thanks John, I'm glad you liked it. Well so far the pan has done ok like it is for cooking. For actual heating it will need some way of dealing with ash. With Nick, the bigger the pack the more he likes it! LOL. Thanks for watching
Its good to see you & Nick again, David. I like your design on the Top piece you made up and the Cable System & Fire Plate and all. Very Nice System. Dave, you getting like me now, you need to make yourself a "List" to pack your Pack. he-he. 😊
Always great to hear from you brother Danny and I'm glad you liked it. LOL, man its getting harder and harder to remember anything! Thanks for watching
Love it... Nick is growing up, pretty soon he's going to be making his own videos. Nice to see the 2 of you having so much fun teasing and cutting up together. Wonder if your tipi style tent would be warm enough for winter if you lined the bottom third or half with emergency blankets. Message for Nick: Please keep extra charger cord for the camera/phone in your bag.... dad's getting old, memory is slipping, it's all up to you kiddo.
Thanks Shawn, I'm glad you liked it. Oh yes, with a reflective inner wall? Im guessing even the smallest of fire could keep this baby warm. Nicks watching out fer his ole dad. LOL. Thanks for watching
I have bought a USB LED light that I throw into my pack and since I always carry my battery pack, I always have a flashlight with me. They are very light and very handy. Nice shelter. Lots of room. Love the fire pan idea.
I love it. I think this my favorite cooking/sleeping set you have done. It's clever but so simple! I have no idea why you don't have a million subscribers. You teach us stuff and you make us laugh. Lovely to see you and Nick out in the woods together. He has such a dry sense of humour. I wonder where he gets that from. Anyways thanks for the video.
Thanks Annette! I'm glad you liked it so much! This is probably going to be one of my favorites too! Nick gets his dry humor from my brother. Lol. Thanks for watching!
dave i was digging that new machete and then you break out a super cool new knife to man o man . ha ha ha dave thats one heck of a poncho man .that hanging pan is a really cool idea dave . i know it would be to heavy for hiking in to places but in a permanent shelter area that same teepee design would be really cool with a canvas tarp . but like i said it would be to heavy to want to haul around .i remember yelling at that girl like she could hear me lol on alone it was season two if i remember cause it was the last season i watched it . same season they took a guy out for not eating enough and he had loads of smoked fish he wouldn't eat . man really cool shelter would have loved to see you do some cooking in it and the day after to see how you all survived the night in it i bet it was nice and warm teepees are the best shelter types . really cool video dave always enjoy hanging out brother good to see nick he is as bad as my boy when it comes to giving ole dad a hard time lol . ok well i guess this comment is long enough sorry about that lol. god bless brother
lol brandon i could say the same thing to you brother . i been buggin dave since like 2015 lol . that is most of the reason i do videos now lol i use to drive him crazy lol . but you are right he is the gear master . no other bushcrafter on youtube can keep up with him .
Very well said! And the most fun trips are made with Nick. Take care and thanks for watching
still my favorite innovator hope you write a book with all your knowledge in it one day i would buy that
Thanks, I'm glad you like what all I do so much Henery! Ah who knows what I'll do next. Thanks for watching
So would I. Buy the book that is.
Yes, a great idea! I am ready to buy this book!
I'm currently having a great time going back through some of your old videos. I'm loving your new quick build take on the old Sammi lavvu - pure genius. Much food for thought about how to make life more comfortable when out in the wilds. Many thanks for your efforts.
Thanks Boris! I'm glad you are liking the older videos! I had a lot more energy back then. Lol.
As soon as I get my Phd in engineering from MIT I will try this. Seriously, I am addicted to your hilariously entertaining projects.. A relief to see Nick is a chip off the old block.
LOL, sounds great Steve!
I lost my dad a couple of years ago and we were the same way with one another. Miss that, thanks for sharing these moments man.
Ah man, I hate hearing that. It's good you two had the times together that you did.
I know what you mean, lost mine about 8 years ago, miss being in the woods with him.
Love to see you & your son together... memories you are making him for life. God bless you both! Love your videos.... thanks so much for taking the time for us! Come on up to NY and do one in the snow!

Thanks Scott! Oh yes, this would be a killer deer camp. Not only is making the gear cheaper but it's half the fun!
You, sir, are a national treasure. These videos are getting me through the quarantine right now. I think this one is my favorite of your inventions so far, but I still have many more of your videos to go.
Fantastic to hear that Jana! Thanks for watching my friend
It is really great to see someone having ideas and trying them out. That’s the only way to learn. Do it, then see what worked and what needs to change. Love it.
Exactly! Ya gotta try this stuff to see what needs tweaking. Thanks for watching Lane
This is the best quick set up I’ve ever seen. I’m definitely going to use what you’ve taught here. Much appreciated Dave!
I'm glad you liked it Adam!
You can’t beat spending time out with family. Great vid you guys and great idea Dave. Take care look forward for the next 👍
I gotta agree 100%! And I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching

This is a GREAT one! You wrapped a " AIN'T THAT NEAT VIDEO " with your son Nick giving it to you with both barrels in a good natured family ribbing style. Thanx guy's!
LOL. Thanks, I'm glad you liked it all Glen! Thanks for watching

Shelter, fire, and hot chow! Man, those are the creature comforts. Thanks for the video as always.
We had it all! Thanks for watching C.M.
I love how real this video is, real guys out in the woods just being themselves no showboating or product placement just real life, and important information. I can't wait to watch your other videos and so far I'm a big fan
Thanks Dominic! You pegged us right, we are just ourselves on these videos. I aint selling nothing. Thanks for watching
Videos with you and Nick are the best. Father and son banter.
Thanks Paul! They are certainly the most fun to film
A tip for the pot/kettle holding wire. Invert the wire, putting the loops at the top. One you don't burn your hands on the fire, when lifting the kettle to a new position, and the excess wire is not in the way. What is that fire blanket made of? I like Nick' shirt. This shelter gave me some ideas to use at the family camp and plenty of room for my cot to fit with space to stretch. Dave you make things fun and let us laugh at ourselves.
Thats great to hear Gina and I'm glad you liked it so much! Teepees do have a lot more room than most shelters. Thanks for watching
awesome setup. One thing though, You might wanna flip the last cable upside down, and attach it up top with one of the loops and a hook, then use the fixed hook for your pot..that way you can adjust the height and not have any "extra" cable hanging down into the fire
Also, I loved your video about the tarp tent with a fire place made with sticks and a fire blanket, gonna try that one out soon, thanks!
I built this set up about six months ago and stuck it on the shelf. I pulled it
down to camp and film and completely forgot that I did indeed design it for
the loops to be at the top.
Nick: "Handy to carry things you dont need" Lol - - - great you are showing great stories with such humor. Dave, I like it, Michael
Lol, Nick is a load of fun to be around. Thanks for watching Michael
I am AGAIN, truly amazed at what you can do!
Thank you so much my friend!
"Peek a Boo" just an example of the humor of your videos. Interesting but a lot more prep required than I would care to do especially with some of the simpler designs that you have shown. Love your channel.
Lol, I don't mind the work in setting up a shelter, that's actually half the fun!
Another great, great video. What a creative mind you have, yikes! You both make a wonderful duo.
Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Oscar! I'm happy you liked it that much!
I used o do this every weekend, but its been a long time now. you both inspire me to get back out there. I enjoy watching you both. thanks for sharing
Sounds great William! I used to camp every weekend too but it's gotten to where lately about once a month due to the heat
3 signs of getting old. 1. You need glasses. 2. You start to forget things. 3. Your son carries the bigger ruck. ;) Greetings from Germany from an old bald guy with glasses.
LOL, well said! Greetings from Georgia in the U.S.A.
Franklin's, remember this: Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional!!!
I'm right there with you Sir, I'm 60 years old and "horse-shoe" hair!
4th sign of getting older. Having the *wisdom* to give your son the bigger backpack! 😂😂😂
Nicks turned out pretty good! He's a busy guy so it's tough for us to get together to film but we do every chance we get. Thanks for watching Thomas
I have some of that cable already too 😁
.. I found a really interesting looking pot at goodwill a couple days ago.. I thought of you immediately!! Lol
I'll have to put together a care package for you with all the weird odds and ends I've found, just to see what you come up with 😜 thanks again for the video Hon, always nice to see Nick get out with you too!
Very funny!
Thanks! I'm glad you like what all we do!
I think that's the best thing you have built so far! I think you need to patent it quick and take it to market.
Thanks Cory!
i like all your videos, but the videos with you and Nick have some great interactions and I really enjoy when he's a part of the video.
Thank you Zachary! I gotta say the videos with Nick are definitely the most fun to film! Thanks for watching my friend
The Volcano Tent !!!.....Another cool tent you made I like the metal ring and how it holds the legs
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it Brother! Man I know you can make one of these rings!
David, I enjoy your, Nick, and Dads videos. Neat family!
Thank you Jim!
So good to see Nick with you again, loved the double intro.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it Todd. Its always more fun with him around.
"Peek A Boo!!" Killed me. I was thinking about how your new poncho was a little too big for hiking.
LOL, man that just hit me at the time! That tarp has to be big because I never have any idea how long the poles for the shelter may or may not be.
Awesome tent & fire pan! You get the best ideas! And Nick, great camera work and hilarious t-shirt! Thanks, guys
Thanks Becky! We are glad you liked it
Awesome video David super inventive nick did a grate job! All keep it short and simple but thank you for your creativity content I'm thankful for coming across your amazing outdoor channel😎🌲🌲

That is one hell of a shelter thanks for sharing Dave & Nick
Thanks Brother Dave!
We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun....thanks for the video Nick and Dave.
Thank you my friend
If I was shown pictures of various camp set ups there is one thing i would be able to identify every time......Yours!..... your style and craftsmanship is unique to this environment. Reallybigmokey1 at its best, great watch....
Thank you Maff! Man that's very cool that my shelter style could be recognized!
Greetings to my fellow Southerners from Sunny Florida,USA!...love your channel!
Thanks! And greetings from Georgia!
Hey Dave,(and Nick),
Thanks for making my day sirs,...another good one for the archives... it was good seeing the two of you together spending some outdoors time in the woods...Well Dave, you've taken yet another awesome idea of your mentors, added your own spin, and gave us all something brilliant.Awesome ideas,...I'd have loved to see how the original was cobbled together without the ''Daveisms'' applied, the hubcap idea is just priceless...What minds your camp-mates had,... you were so fortunate to have had the experiences of learning from such talented gurus of the woods.
Back in ''the old days'', when I was younger, we would camp a lot as a family, and many times would forget a key item or two...Well, after actually omitting a sleeping bag once, I came up with a simple system...A CHECKLIST !!....I compiled that list and added to it whenever we said ''I sure wish
we had a ....." I made about 50 copies, and used it every time we went camping from then on...now, of course the list was huge, and not all things went on all trips, but it was so nice having that check-list to refer to...It made preparations a breeze....( Seems like a no-brainer I know, but so many folks do actually prepare without a list, I'd thought I'd mention it, )
Thanks again for another fun video man...'Till next time, you guys stay healthy, and God's Blessing to you and yours Brother...ATB...CHEERS !!
You are the man Mr. P.....See ya' in the next one Amigo...Stay healthy.
Now that was a great excursion and demo of a fantastic shelter, looks very cosy with the hanging Fire pan, great chemistry with you two also. Congrats on your competition win, well deserved, enjoyed that Fire lighting challenge to, Thanks..
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. Oh yeah man, its a fantastic way to cook, sleep and chill! Thanks for watching
Wonderful video!
really enjoyed the father and son banter...none of that yes sir, no sir here....just two friends enjoying life!!!
i love the Fire pan and pretty much the whole system...Thanks David and Nick...awesome!...woods
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it Woods! At home it can be yes sir no sir, in the woods its game on! Thanks for watching
Hey David and Nick! Another good and very creative video. Good to see y'all again. Glad to see your channel doing so well. Thanks for sharing.
Hello my friend! Always great to be back on here and we are happy you liked it

Thanks Donna!
Thank you Steve!
You bet Brother, you deserve all the success that's comin' your way !!...Be well.
This is the best camping idea i have ever seen and I'm an old guy that has been camping/hiking more than 50 years. Screw carrying a stove around.
You can go at it alone but it's definitely more fun and safer to go with others. Go when ever you can and thanks for watching my friend!
Great place to spend a day or two! Thanks fer the share Dave & Nick! ZZ.
Oh yes it was! Thanks for watching ZZ
That was awesome thanks for sharing. Boy Nick is really growing fast . Have a great day 📸👍👍👍👍📸
Thanks Drew, I'm glad you liked it. You have a great day too!
Think that would be easy to improvise with a grill grate if you can find one the right size.
you are truly a bushcrafter. I don't get out enough anymore to do that kind of stuff. I sure would like to cuz I've learned quite a bit from you. Thanks!
Thank you Michael!
Remember when Nick had to be begged to comment during taping? Ahh, they grow up so fast. Great video, y'all. Informative and entertaining, as always!!
LOL, oh yeah. And now he just won't clam up! I'm happy you liked it, thanks for watching
Nifty rig indeed! You two are so fun to watch, thanks!⚡️🌎🐄
Thanks!
Great Video I always enjoy your videos. It inspires me to go camping.
Thanks Marlon, I'm glad you liked it. Get out and camp any time you can! Thanks for watching
That ring is pure genius! Love the fire pan suspension!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it that much! Thanks for watching
Hello Cheri! I'm glad you liked it all. Oh yes, that cable is the way to go when it comes to fire! The possibilities are endless. Thanks for watching
I'll tell you, it's like going back in time seeing Nick! I wouldn't be surprised if someone messaged you two to be in a commercial or movie! I know you here this a lot, but, he sure is the spitting image of you!
Lol! Ah so far nobody wants either of us for tv! Thanks for watching James.
One more thing love father son stuff. Your team not just. Father and son but a team of love that hard to find these days
Thanks Jackie, we always have each others back!
Thank you so much Vic! I'm glad you like all the videos. Get out as often as you can. Thanks for watching
Howdy!!!
Good to see Nick has lost his shyness (much to the chagrin of his father.) Virginia says the fondest memories of Dad were the teasing between the two of them.
The best heated shelter with an open fire on U-tube....good job!!!
By the way, Virginia loves your new camo (looks like I'm going to be spending more money on a new outfit,)
Thanks for the show,
Clark and Virginia
Hello Clark and Virginia! Yep, Nicks shyness is long gone. Just like Americas interest in VCRs. Lol. I'm so happy you liked the shelter. That camo its what's known as multi cam or a similar version called Scorpion. Take care and thanks for watching
Virginia Bradley I
You guys make a great team! Enjoy! I will be heading out to the state park for some fishing and a little lunch. I plan on using a tarp shelter for a wind break. I won’t forget my flashlight, saw or ax, Nick. Thanks.
Thanks, I'm glad you like what all we do Jan. Enjoy your fishing and stay warm! Thanks for watching
Another great video . I really like this set up.you should sale them rings, thanks captjohn.
Thanks Capt! I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching
Great invention Dave. Looks like it worked well. Also great to see Nick participate.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it Mark. Man it worked out great!
Love the shelters you build . TY. Plus you should name it the volcano shelter .
Thanks Zadok! I'm glad you like em all. That's a cool name!
Dave, very good shelter and cooking set up......enjoyed it a lot.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it
Dave,
Nice work. Like that you can have a fire in the shelter, with a pretty simple design. Odd seeing you make a shelter without several hanks of rope.
You should have hidden Nick's flashlight!
Take care.
Cantab Hiker, 👍 from sunny 🌞 Arizona. 70/40f today
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. Yep, odd for me with no rope but I do like to think outside my own rules from time to time. LOL. Thanks for watching
You sure do have really good tricks and ideas for the back country. But is hard to go about your own life and responsibilities, make a video, and teach at the same time. Great video, you guys are very entertaining to watch, and still learn. God bless you.
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it and the way I do things. Yep, with day to day life it makes it tough to find time to make videos
Hey Guys, i just wanted to say that Nick, pull a great "HEY EVERYBODY" I understand thats is your intro, but it just got better Nick... Keep up the good work, is nice to see a Pops and Son, Bushcraft video....
Thank you Ernie! We are glad you liked it so much. I honestly had no idea Nick was gonna do that, it was hilarious!
Reallybigmonkey1 It was totally cool, like looking at young version of you....
Also, i'm going to take this opportunity to thank you, for being more conscience about not harming live trees..
If you love Nature, Love is what you'll get in return every time
You two are AWESOME!
keep doing what you are doing, don't change a thing..
A man that loves his father is a beautiful thing to see.
I agree and I'm a lucky man. Thanks for watching Andy
Wow what a video! And what a channel, you guys got a lot going on over here👍 I love the camera personality you guys have and how well you play off one another! You can truly see the bond between you💪👍
Thanks Brother, I'm glad you liked it. Man we always have a great time out there! Thanks for watching
In always amazed at the things you come up with. Great video. Hello to Nick too. Take care guys.
Thank you Tressa and that's always great to hear! Nick says Hello
Cool Stuff: pyramid/chimney ring with triangular support pole connections, elevated fire pan, etc ... all very cool.
Thx, I enjoy your channel.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it and my channel William!
I love your camp videos. They are so enertaining and this helps me to remember the information in your videos.
Thanks Cynthia! Always great to hear that!
I really enjoy watching these videos.. or as you may say, an awesome little jewel 😁👍👍
Thanks, I'm glad you like em!
Thanks for the reply Great vid as always. Great to see father and son having "fun in the woods"
Thanks for watching my friend
Funny thing, I bought one of them a year ago for my camera bag and lost it before it made it into the bag! I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching
Great video brother! Looked like an awesome time!
Thank you brother! Man we had a great time. Thanks for stopping by
Another awesome video buddy. Looks like you all are having a blast. Thank you for the video.
Thanks Robert, I'm glad you liked it. Ah man, we had a great time! Thanks for watching
Another exciting video! Thanks Dave and Nick! Good to see you guys again!!
Yep, and I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching Ralph!
dave i was digging that new machete and then you break out a super cool new knife to man o man . ha ha ha dave thats one heck of a poncho man .that hanging pan is a really cool idea dave . i know it would be to heavy for hiking in to places but in a permanent shelter area that same teepee design would be really cool with a canvas tarp . but like i said it would be to heavy to want to haul around .i remember yelling at that girl like she could hear me lol on alone it was season two if i remember cause it was the last season i watched it . same season they took a guy out for not eating enough and he had loads of smoked fish he wouldn't eat . man really cool shelter would have loved to see you do some cooking in it and the day after to see how you all survived the night in it i bet it was nice and warm teepees are the best shelter types . really cool video dave always enjoy hanging out brother good to see nick he is as bad as my boy when it comes to giving ole dad a hard time lol . ok well i guess this comment is long enough sorry about that lol. god bless brother
Oh my Dark matter, gnome matter where I go you are there....Dave has great content on his channel.....
yeah buddy . i hang out in all the cool places man thats why . yeah dave a great guy dont tell him though dont want him to get a big head . lol .
Good to see you here Dark... Dave is a wise man to watch. He is the "Gearmaster" for sure!
lol brandon i could say the same thing to you brother . i been buggin dave since like 2015 lol . that is most of the reason i do videos now lol i use to drive him crazy lol . but you are right he is the gear master . no other bushcrafter on youtube can keep up with him .
Agreed!
Love your attitude Dave , that son of yours will probably grow to appreciate your greeting.
