She has potential. If she keeps enjoying it, we'll keep playing and just see where it leads.

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. I am watching your tutorials to improve my game. All of them are excellent. But, this one is the best. What a nice way to improve focus. You daughter is very cute, enthu and excellent performer. Please convey my blessings and best wishes to her. I am sure that one day she will be world champion.
In my younger days, I used to play cross table counters for improving focus and hand, eye & foot coordination. It is best simulation of one of most common rallies in real matches. I still do it. But, I am not seeing young generation doing that practice.

As wholesome as this video is I hope people will see through the amazing cuteness into the very good lesson there is to get from it. Forcing some sort of goals/challenges into a drill has proven at the very least 150% more efficient for the kids I coach. It can turn a chore into a fun game whilst providing experience. As for adults I find that it helps them focus more on the importance of a clean/controlled shot (versus a powerful and uncontrolled one).
Tom: thank you for providing such simple-yet-hyper-effective content. The beauty is in the simplicity and the accessibility of your content.
Also I've noticed your daughter puts her paddle on the table after each point/exercise. I've never seen someone do that before; did you teach her that and if so, is the benefit similar to your "Too tense" video?

I hadn't noticed she was putting the bat down. I've not told her to do that. Maybe she puts it down to stop her hand aching. We still only play for around 20 mins at a time, as holding the bat up can get tiring when they are this young. And thanks for the kind comments too!

I notice that she is using the bat at her shoulder level, if we had to play at that height, we would be challenged!
Perhaps children need the lightest bat we can find.

@@barbarahodge8737 When they are very young, they do have to keep the bat up quite high, which gets tiring. I only play with Beatrix for 20 minutes at a time. And her bat is very light. As she gets taller and stronger it will be easier and she will be able to play for longer.

Instead of starting the game from 0-0,you can try it from deuce or 3-7 or 5-7,etc any permutations which can occur in a match.

It's a bit too early for that. Give her another couple of years and then she should be ready (if she keeps wanting to play).

I have a little one who is 3. Thank you for this and any content on training little ones. Also, I'm February 19, 1980. How close are our birthdays?

You're a few months older than me. But I find with every year which passes I find it harder to remember how old I am!
