Adultery, drove her husband to madness (literally), groomed an underage boy, was an accessory to murder, covered up for the murderer (obstruction of justice) and what have you. And walked out free? Madness
That made me so angry that she didn’t get charged for ANYTHING!!! Not only was she sleeping with an underage boy, but she kept him in a tiny little living space with no contact with the outside world!!! And this was before social media and the internet, so he had ZERO human contact other than her. Imagine going 10 years like that and (I don’t think) he even left the house either! Plus the free labor- That’s literally enslavement! I have no idea why he agreed to it, I’m guessing she convinced him she would leave her husband one day 🤷♀️ Idk, but not only that, her poor husband too! Not only was she having an affair but using his money to support another human being without his knowledge and allowing him to think he was going crazy and whatnot!🤦♀️ What she did to both of them was sooo AWFUL and she’s such a horrible person!!! I wouldn’t be surprised if she told Otto to kill him if he ever started to act “out of control” and painted the picture that he was abusive and dangerous. Then she waited for a night where he was drinking and already in a bad mood so she could say all the things she knew would push his buttons and get a reaction out of him. That way if things ever went south with otto, she could always maintain the story of self defense without worrying about him ratting her out later. I think it was her plan from the beginning to get otto to shoot him and make him think he did the right thing🙄
We actually studied this case in a psychology class I took in the early 1980s. It was an example of gaslighting, of manipulating another's perceptions for some form of personal gain.
You forgot to mention that she cheated on the lawyer too, and it was that guy who had hidden one of the murder weapons on her behalf. Her neighbor hid the other one. At one point in time, she had no less than three lovers at once, none of whom knew about each other. To recap : She was in possession of the stolen goods and both murder weapons, all hidden at her behest, all recovered by the police eventually. And STILL the jury wasn't sure about her guilt in the matter. In fact, the majority of the jury wanted to acquit her! This woman was a sociopath and narcissist through and through, the only reason she got away with it at all was because was because sexism in the legal system at the time worked in her favor.
I can't believe Dolly actually got away with everything in the end. Not just being involved in her husband's murder, but grooming an underaged boy, keeping him in her attic as a literal sex slave for years.. Poor Otto. At least it seems he was able to move on and be happy. Dolly should have spent her remaining years in jail, imo.
Poor Otto? He wasn't underage for 9 years and she wasn't keeping him locked up in there, it was his choice to hide in his married lover's attic for 9 years like who does that? Dolly is guilty of gaslighting to cover up her creepy-ass attic affair but I definitely blame Otto for the murder.

I first watched this video on the Mr. Ballen channel. My second time watching it (on this channel) was like I was listening to a whole other story! You truly are very talented.
I had to hide my boyfriend in my closet one night. He'd come over while my parents went out to dinner. They returned home much earlier than anticipated. We had 2 barky dogs and creaky wood floors - I was terrified at the prospect of sneaking him out after everyone had gone to bed. I couldn't imagine getting away with it! Fortunately I did manage to get him out of the house without getting caught - WHEW - I never tried that again!!! Thankfully this was back in the 1970's - before security alarms, security cameras, etc..... Ha - my stomach is in knots now just telling the story!!! 😂
I would definitely examine my attic if I thought I was going crazy hearing things and stuff around the house moving. Poor guy never got to learn he wasn't loosing his mind...
9:21 - This bizarre twist brings up so many questions! What happened when Otto had to use the toilet? I assume he could use the shower during the day when Fred was at work, but some things can't wait that long! Did he ever get out into the fresh air and sunlight? Did he ever see any friends, or any other human beings at all? 11:15 - Some questions answered. God, he was practically a prisoner! I find it hard to believe any "sewing machine" in the world could be worth it! It does occur to me that he was about 17 and under the influence of an older woman who may have manipulated him. Later - Okay, this story just gets weirder and weirder, but I was right that Otto was completely isolated.
I don't remember hearing anything about her being battered and bruised, it makes me feel like her husband's murder wasn't justified. She was an abusive person herself.
@@xhadebrinsbane5238 Ever heard of manipulation? I escaped a wife after being abused for a year. A lovely narcissistic smart women that makes you believe it's all your fault.

And you can't leave because the kids need you to be there. .....Thank God, they weren't my kids. Still hard to leave, you instantly fall in love with kids.
11:20 Even more remarkable, it appears Otto with all his free time had successfully designed and produced the first-ever mock-up of a flat panel monitor decades before the first television.
I think I've seen this story on the I.D. (Investigation Discovery) Channel's "A Crime To Remember," on the Travel Channel's "Mysteries At The Museum," and, I think, on a program called "Bizarre Murders." I don't recall which cable channel it was on, but I think it can be seen on the Tubi streaming channel.
You know, when Thoughty2 asks what we thought happened in the beginning of the video, my first thought was that Dolly had a secret lover that went to defend her. While I was right, I did not expect said lover to be living in the attic for NINE YEARS! WTF?!
I was just telling my Uber driver, (literally a couple of hours ago,) about my neighbors, who found out they had had someone living in their attic, for at least a few months, when they found a sleeping bag and a bunch of empty food packaging. There had been a means to acquire egress into the attic from outside of the house, and apparently that was how they had been getting in, I know they locked up the hatch, into the attic, outside. I don’t remember what else happened, but they moved out not too long afterwards-perhaps unsurprisingly. We joked at the time about a similar situation to the one described in the video, I really hope it didn’t play out the same way!
They can't match them physically,so they take the mental route, unfortunately, that doesn't count as abuse in most courts. Domestic abuse is done by just as many if not more women yet only men have the stigma..
@@joelshajan8706 it’s incredibly frustrating to have such a disparity in the court systems. The favoring of women is ironically a leftover but of the patriarchy. Last time I was this early, my wife was seriously dissapointed... Edit after watching the video: Knowing the Afrikaans word for a sewing machine makes this story so much funnier...
I assume a story like this is extremely rare. Yet, One of my wife's friends discovered a man living in her attic. She had no idea he'd moved in. He was always quiet when she was home. She only started to suspect something when her toilet seat was left up a couple times when her husband was out of town Yikes!
Hey 42! Big fan of your channel here. Keep it up! Very entertaining. Haha that humor reference with "She must had a hell of a Sewing machine" is hilarious! 🤣 Question: Who does your custom animations and how long does a video take you to edit? You must have a team behind you for sure. Very proffessional work.
Swap the sexes of the cheater and the person in the attic and people would be calling the person a monster that sexually enslaved a person for a decade. This woman was a sociopath of the highest order and deserves no special treatment, because of her a young person lost a decade of his life, and an innocent man suffered psychological damage and was murdered. Truly a sick and disturbing woman.

I guessed it was her lover in the attic as soon as you mentioned Freds missing clothing and hearing sounds from the ceiling. Exactly my thoughts! How do we know he recognised Otto when he wasn’t alive to discuss it?!

Its narcissistic abuse. Happens all the time regardless of gender and relationship.
