Heard this song recently on The Sopranos. The Bada Bing thing! Sounded great so thought I would check Ray Davies live session. Always liked the Kinks, such talented brothers and although Ray"s lyrics on his songs are so meaningful and poetic genius, here we have Dave composing a brilliant song, which is appropriate for the generations of British people after the the world wars of the bloodiest century known to mankind, but just as significant and appropriate for the 2020 and 2021 Covid-19 pandemic. Lied to by politicians again, slow to react to a deadly virus, lockdown rules chopped and changed by fools. Where are we going to? What hope is there for our children and children"s children? Spot on Dave with your excellent song and great almost haunting background music. In my top 100 songs of rock and pop music.
I know that all art is subjective but I can say for certain that based on what you have written there you have completely misunderstood this song and it’s sentiment.
@@hamilcarofcarthage4178 Lol, this guy has the most normie understanding haha
England has made unbelievably significant contributions to music. Kinks are such an underrated band.
Can't help but picture the Bada Bing
Wow, you must be younger than I am! LOL
Me too lol
Chris Thornycroft much younger than those of us who saw the Kinks a few (or more ;) ) times....
Great post!!! I don’t think Dave got the recognition he should have.
I was there...seeing Dave live at Lorsch. The best concert in my whole life❤
Great song. I hope they have a reunion.
Great song. They will never reunite.
Felix was really outstanding.Jack Bruce always comes to mind when i hear him do his songs
A Classic Song for Humanity written in 1984 and sung by Dave Davies ( not Ray this time ) - such talented brothers from the Dead End Street - love them
Wonderful song !
My favorite kinks song so underrated i love this live in the Soprano s season 3 poor Tracy Ralph got what he deserved Great song Choice
Perfect clip from a Fantastic song played by the great but very underrated Dave Davies.. great performance, thanks for sharing!

Agreed, my friend!
...... AMAZING!! Such great drama and aura in the music.
BACKUP? You're rewriting history, all wrong.
Love this song ❤️
ive heard Ray telling people not to clap if they cant keep rhythm, here Dave is getting people to clap, two different cats both great
Good for him! If I want to hear out of time clapping I can go to a preschool, for a lot less money and effort.
OUTSTANDING!!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
thanks much
I`m not so fortunate to have seen the kinks any time through the 30`s,40`s,50`s,60`s,70`s,80`s,90`s,00`s,10`s but I watching and listening.
30's? The hell you talking about
Great Keyboard work in the beginning!!
sorry, but the keys sound very cheesy, like very un-musical 80s synths
The best
This should be a double A-side with 'Death Of A Clown'.
RIP Tracy
Why isn't the crowd jamming? Such a great song.
Care for one another.
RIP tracy

Yes it really really matters"
Dave has unfortunately lived in the shadow of his brother and has never really received the notoriety he deserves.
I could tell that Dave had not cared for himself as well as Ray long ago. This is I believe 5 yrs before his stroke. When he was young he really did do good backup to Ray but I'm afraid he never was lead singer material. But hey E for effort.
Sorry to be picky but sounds a trifle patronising "hey i'm feeling generous, i'll give him an E for effort" In reality at the Kinks heyday Dave Davies was not a mere 'Backup to Ray' he was the bands driving force giving them their signature sound, especially with his guitar playing. Sibling rivalry saw Ray pushing his brother Dave away from sharing the microphone in lead vocals. I feel Ray's ego meant he couldn't countenance another songwriter than himself in the band, he always denigrated Dave's songwriting rarely even allowing him to finish singing any of his songs publicly.
