Hi 👋 thanks for an interesting conversation! This episode apart from being interesting in itself, touched on a plethora of the roots of the social issues we’re experiencing in our societies. There was several times I wished to have been able to chime in to delve deeper into the aspects of the societal issue’s you brought up during your interview, and there’s a time & place for everything! One of the thing from your discussion that peaked my interest was when you talked how many people there’s who get institutionalized, and are comfortable with it & whilst that’s true - my pitch to you here is to make the point that *it all starts somewhere* || In most countries the system is broken. The system isn’t designed for the amount of people who really need help. And therefore I would find It very interesting to see what could be achieved (hypothetically) if a team of people from different backgrounds with legit credentials from their respective working backgrounds could come together (maybe a podcast series would be a good format) and make them people pinpoint what’s the most important parts that are in urgent need for improvement and how to utilize new research, studies and even already established and great working systems even if it is in other countries. My hypothesis isn’t to recreate every area but rather to improve what is able to improve and implement other things in areas where the current system that are in place would benefit from a new “design”, something that’s measurable and can easily be evaluated in order to stay relevant ! It would be a good way to try out ideas in a very safe way if this would appeal to you. A society who can provide solutions and improve the lives for whom they are helping is the cornerstones in any society, millions of people would benefit from new ideas being implemented, and it’s also in my opinion important that people (generally) understand why things are done the way they are! It’s important to note that not all things are bad, but the society we’re living in today is very different from only two decades ago, and I can’t tell that I’ve a clear idea about any country who have made changes suitable for this Day and Age. I know that all people is an extremely broad term, and not all people who get institutionalized have had a difficult childhood, and end up in prison! But that’s subordinated to this pitch I’m trying to give you, I would appreciate it immensely if you would find my idea interesting and useful & create something together with people who ould be interested in creating a hypothetical society together. I think it’s important that no one who takes part (if this idea comes to fruition) is currently in a work position where their ideas might be comprised due to what they are allowed to say/suggests. People with experience from: social workers, police, military, politicians, judges, barristers, healthcare professionals, mental health professionals, people employed in prisons etc. are all people with great experience of our current normative societal structure and from where it all starts, = I would like to see a system who provide them people in need of help the right help in the right time so that we can hopefully get a society where we don’t just put people in jail because when we have gotten that far it’s very difficult to help, and provide people reasonable chances to a fair comeback to regular life. (So now my essay is finished) With kindness and respect, Grace

Interesting to listen to some similar experiences. Life behind closed doors is not often given enough air time to hear some of what went on or goes on. 25,000 each year is not enough for working in a prison with murderers and drug addicts and rapists, to retain good people with experience you need at least 50,000 as a minimum wage for a prison officer with 5 years experience. A dangerous environment should pay better than minimum wage. Prison work requires psychology and social work skills as well as self defence and medical training,that’s 3 professions in one job,minimum wage for a prison officer is not acceptable ✌️❤️🇬🇧

We are a little bit different in Scotland and some will go to the extreme and being an ex'para there on a different level of violence that what you're saying sounds like a Scottish guy and I believe that happened I have a mate who was in the Paratrooper regiment and tuff of course he came home a different kind of dude man but still a good dude
Great interview this guy seems genuine unlike alot of ex prisoners they sound just like jail stories full of myths hearsay and fantasists
I worked at STOCKEN PRISON on the new 180 house blocks that he was talking about.. big prison
Assessment tomorrow 😂
I agree Shaun with the beasts more time thank you for the crimes against children.
amazing interview! your stuff Shaun is always 5**! that freak playing with himself, should go texas so he can be on "that" row.
Sounds similar to Rampton!
It's called banked in Scotland yep either inner or between the cheeks I've never inner but had a G in cash that I went in with a done a fine and come back out with it real talk man that's the short version of the story bro
@shaunatwood.
Fair play to this guy for telling his side.
I can guarantee he did some naughty things to inmates in these situations.
Shaun I’ve had more than a little bit of a mad life… military and then prison. I’d happily come on and share a few things.
Make ya actual toes curl.
Drugs keeps the jail nice an easy..plus they know and dont give a sh.t..once the prison is quiet they let the drugs un to an extent
BZ to the chap from an ex REME mech.
