    I would like to thank each and everyone who has commented on my podcast. Yes it was hard to bare my soul. But yes it gave me strength and solace. Shaun and Jen were a lovely couple, they made me feel like I was loved again. The people who know me they know I’ve always been I caring and loving person. A man who could take a quiet room to a vibrant happy place. But that service made me into a different man. Thank God I’m back and with the crowd I loved. People like Shaun are hard to find. I think it would be easier to find a set of chicken teeth. lol 😅

      I worked in lewes prison for 11 years , not an officer , I was in the carat team ( drugs) . Have many friends from that tine. There is only so long you can work in that environment. All the officers said that women’s prisons were much harder. You definitely made lots of prisoners life’s a bit less painful . God bless you lovely man xxx❤xxx

      You can spin as many stories as you like, but YOU know that WE know....we, as in your ex colleagues......that you are talking shit. I suppose if you were honest, it wouldnt make such a good interview or book. Some of your stories are true, some are bullshit. The ones that are true are not your stories, they all happened to other people when you weren't even there. I hope you will read the new comments that have been left on here. I think admitting to walking away as a female officer that you didn't like was being assaulted, accurately portrays who you are as a person.

    Oh dear. I can see why kev was a hit with viewers, he has a knack for story telling and an affable personality. And while many of the stories are true, they are not his stories. These are things that happened to other people in the service. I worked at the female jail for over 2 decades and during the time that kev was there. Its an incredibly tough job and one that only years of experience can teach you to do well. The staff at the jail he is talking about are absolute professionals, able to manage the most difficult prisoners with a perfect combination of tact, diplomacy, humour and discipline. I was proud to be a part of that team for so long. Kev didnt serve as an officer for very long, and while he clearly has a big personality, he sadly crossed the line on more than one occasion. Officers have a duty of care that they take seriously, the girls in prison have often come from backgrounds that leave them little option that to keep returning to prison. In a lot of cases, the staff were the only family these girls ever knew. Kev, in the opinion of many, was far to familiar with the prisoners, wanting to be liked first and foremost. This can only ever lead to disaster. While it is our duty to treat them with respect and dignity, our main role is security and safety, not becoming their friend. I have heard some BS spoken by embittered ex officers but this is pretty much up with the most outrageous of them. He wasn't bullied or treated badly by a "corrupt service" as he puts it. He was disciplined because he acted inappropriately. Notice when jen asks him if he only worked at female jails, said he went to wakefield but didnt like it, thats because he could't hack it there. His "charms" did not work on men as they had done on women. He seems to have a huge fan base on here and I suppose good for him, I normally wouldnt bother commenting but I cannot stand by and listen to his claims to have been the only one who cared, the only one who would listen to their problems, the only one that could get them to do anything, the only one to raise the security rating, the only one to be able to control the extremely dangerous prisoner, and on and on, and put down staff with years of dedicated experience who I have seen cry from sheer exhaustion and stress. I have rarely heard such complete bullshit spoken from an ex officer.

    I was at Newhall as a male officer for over 8yrs and never once attended a strip search of prisoners. That is total BS. The only involvement in that was to relieve female staff to do the strip search. Plus there is absolutely no way he'd have kept his job if he let a prisoner on a 3 unlock out of the yard on the seg unit alone. I also worked on the healthcare unit aswell as the seg unit and refute the claims about the nurses. If any of that happened other staff would put a stop to it. Yes there has been and probably will be corrupt staff but they were/are in a very small minority.

    I don't normally comment on here but I must do. I also worked at HMP Newhall and this is not true. Unfortunately, these are not Kevin's stories. These happened years before he got there. He actually shouldn't have mentioned the prisoners name but seeing as he has, there was so much protocol when dealing with this prisoner. Only certain staff were detailed to work with her for continuity. As I remember, she was at least 3 officers to unlock due to her being so dangerous. There is no way on this earth that he would have unlocked her when she was on the exercise yard, on his own, because she wanted the loo. That could have been a sackable offence due to the massive security risk of her over powering him and getting the keys. And singing to her........ No chance. Now I can't remember him being in the prison service for 8 years, it was about 3 and not when that prisoner was there. The fact that he just walked away when he saw an officer, who he hated being assaulted is dispicable. He called her a man hater. Sounds like he had a problem with the gay female staff.
    The fact that he spoke about the 2 nurses like that, well I don't believe him. I never saw any nurse treat a prisoner in that manner, and if she had been so badly cut up, she would have gone to the hospital. No way would he have been told, when arriving on nights, to go to her wing, bandage her arm himself, & then take her to health care centre. So basically she'd been left bleeding in her cell, (& not room as he has said numerous times) until he came on duty! I've never seen a nurse administer anesthetic before, I just didn't think they could do as all the serious self harm patients went to hospital. The prisoner escaping from a bedwatch then a taxi driver brought her back to the staff didn't happen like that & he wasn't there. Again it was before his time. The officer bringing the contraband in was his friend who used to stay at his pub and sleep there. That incident happened on nights, New Years Eve not on a morning & Kevin was not there, and he did bring that stuff in and more but was searched but the person incharge let him do his shift but then he got suspended.
    He has made out that all the staff were unprofessional, against him, treated the prisoners very bad, and all slept when on night duty, except him. Absolute lie. Myself & many other officers did not sleep whilst on duty. 98% of staff were excellent people who engaged really well with the prisoners & treated them with respect, dignity, professionalism & empathy and we could have some banter with them. There's always a couple of ppl in every job who crosses the line hense the 98%. Unfortunately he has gone on this interview and told other officers stories. They happened but not to him. He appears to hate all the staff and appears to really dislike the female officers & accuses the gay female officers as manhaters! I would say that non were manhaters, I never got that vibe. The staff always seemed to work well together and had each other's back, well all except this guy who turned away when the officer who he hated was being assaulted. Now that is dispicable! All this interview is a lie & not his stories. It sounds like he single handily ran the prison & he was the only one that prisoners interacted with. One cannot 'make friends' with the prisoners. Be friendly & respectful, but don't call them 'love'. And as for Wakefield, Maudsley, no way was he the most dangerous prisoner there. Absolutely no chance would a prison officer wear 'red dockers' instead of black footwear. And as for the hat, if a member of staff wanted to wear it, they could, and some officers that were in the job for years, did so. The hat wearing was relaxed only. Then saying the Wakefield wasn't as secure as he thought it would be is laughable. I have worked in both prisons & staff were very friendly and approachable, they certainly didn't treat others like that. And I do not ever remember him being at Wakefield when I was there. I'm sure he came around 2003-4 & "left" in 2006. Like I said, I don't ever comment, but I, as well as others, feel very aggrieved by his words. I have always been extremely professional in my role in both prisons & have worked alongside many many officers the same. Beware of the officer who calls prisoners love, who prefers to speak the them instead of staff, that says 'she was a lovely lass' over & over but addresses his colleagues as arrogant, cruel, nasty & uncaring people. I am very shocked by this & he has given 1000's of people who have watched this, the wrong impression of us. Very unprofessional indeed.

    I also worked at HMP Newhall before and well after Kevin departed, I can honestly confirm these story’s weren’t his, he wasn’t in the job very long, I also can’t recall him being there when the named Prisoner was at Newhall and as far as him stating the named Prisoner needed the toilet whilst on Segregation exercise yard and he let her in is totally untrue the named Prisoner was a 3 Officer unlock which meant she was too dangerous for one Officer to lock and unlock her. As for stitching without anaesthetic is another untruth, the Jail didn’t store any anaesthetic but the Prisoners would be sent out to hospital if the cut needed a local anaesthetic. I always found all staff and Health Care staff very professional. His interview is a load of BULLSHIT………

      Hi Shaun. There wasn’t many officers or OSG members I really liked at Newhall. But you and your Bob I thought were great guys. It appears you didn’t think the same. Sorry to read your opinion Shaun.

    • @Dosachti
      @Dosachti 5 місяців тому +1

      This reply itself sums you up Kevin. So arart from all these lies about stories that weren't yours, your unprofessionalism when turning your back on a female officer being assaulted, turning your back on your "P/O friend" who was being inappropriate with a female prisoner, when you"heard them"and didn't report it, you were also extremely fake! Pretending you liked most of your fellow officers when really you dispised them. You were so friendly to the prisoners calling them 'love' & saying "lovely lass" but hating an officer, you were clearly on the wrong side of the bars! You condoned bad behaviour. I remember exactly why you was suspended, & it was 2 separate accusations! And relying on prisoners to be a witness instead of staff, WTAF! I for one got on well with most staff & had banter with the girls whilst still conducting myself with integrity & professionalism but unfortunately I cannot say the same for you. You spent so much time with your "tent friend", then call him out! Unbelievable. You should really be ashamed of this not happy. If you'd have told the truth and nothing but the truth, you ex colleagues would have reacted much differently, but you stole stories, lied and come across very bitter indeed. I'm disgusted with your interview.

    I realise I have left a comment already but I just really have to add something more. There is NO WAY a prisoner would be "cut down 9 times in an hour". At the first attempt, the prisoner would have been relocated, all clothes removed and she would be placed in a cell in a "strip dress", specially made clothing that is unable to be torn and therefore not able to be used as ligatures. But I guess that doesn't make such an interesting story for your book does it Kevin? I joined the service in 1983, there was no such thing as opposite sex posting, male jails were run by men, female jails by females. At around 1:18 in the video he says that women need men in the jail as we just aren't strong enough. Jesus Christ, does this mans knuckles drag on the floor when he walks?? We managed perfectly fine before men were allowed in womens prisons. Safely restraining a violent prisoner is more about technique and training than brute strength, but I guess he wasnt in the service long enough to know that. The "old sweat" on the landing when new staff were unsure of what to do, what an ego! We were ALL new at one point and we all learned the same way, by experience. I actually feel embarrassed for him. This whole interview is total cringe.

But to be honest I wanted to make a difference,but then realised I was going to be locked an in an environment were fear intimidation was the norm, so decided I would not be good for this job, although my intention was to try make people's lives better... Rock an hard place to be honest...💯

      Oh, I did wonder what he'd died from. I used to watch wrestling with my gran and especially loved Big Daddy.
