I was at this Festival. Traffic was pure magic! I don't know what else to say about Winwood. A true master musician. Is there anything he can't play! And let's not forget his voice, songwriting, keyboard player, guitar player, and more. For history from this music era. I put him equal with anyone!
One of the best musicians of the century. I won’t stir up a controversy with where I place him. But, for the few who might not know him look up all his videos and his stuff with Traffic. Then you can respond to my comment. Rock on SW!!
He is so much more than Traffic and started as a baby. Blind faith Spencer Davis group Traffic and a hell of a solo career. He can play any instrument on stage with authority. And isnt the least bit pretentious at least not publicly. The rock hall of fame has yet to see fit to induct him as a solo artist last I looked.just shows what the are about
Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith, occasional jamming with Hendrix, a lot of jamming with Clapton in 10s and reaching to top of charts as a solo artist defines this man. Controversy or not, Winwood is certainly in top 10 as a rock/soul vocalist and keyboardist. He is also very good on guitar as one can see in many videos
I have seen most of the greats. About a month a ago. I named Stevie the greatest musician of this generation! Who can play guitar like this, play keyboards with the best, The voice of a Angle! Ask Eric Clapton about him. I was reading a week ago. Hendrix wanted to be in a band with Winwood. And Jimmy Page wanted him in his band before Robert Plant was asked! What you all think about that!
Some of the best lyrics ever...."Dear Mister Fantasy play us a tune, something to make us all happy, do anything take us out of this gloom, sing a song, play guitar, make it snappy"
I have watched nine different live versions of this song today. This is MY kind of music, long jams, excellent playing...Dear Mr Fantasy is one of my Top Three electric 60's songs (Piece of My Heart, White Room: these 3 epitomize 60's hard rock for me).
Great concert, fantastic music. I am 72 and tears are running down my cheeks .... I love those great decades of music exposion ! I t will never happen again ... what a pity!
I'm 51 now and actually found Traffic while in junior high. I actually found them from the Grateful Dead (they did a Fantasy -> Hey Jude in Foxboro). The Fantasy where SW has the green Gibson Firebird and looks like he is tripping ballz is my favorite
This song got me hooked on Traffic back in 1970. Borrowed a friend's copy of the '68 album Traffic. Not sure he ever got it back. Also loved 40,000 Headmen, Shanghai Noodle Factory. Then bought John Barleycorn Must Die - another great album. Still listening to them.
I just watched no less than 10 different live examples of this tune and he Never deviates from singing it properly with No Shortcuts in pitch. .... indeed a rarity. btw, 46 years old here...Looks like a kid still !!
True I can really see that. Awful? No not if you're talking about the performance Korn put on in 99. That was one that other metal bands couldn't top. This isn't metal, but I still enjoy this.
IMO Steve Winwood is one of the greatest musicians of rock n roll. Writing and singing Gimme Some Lovin as a 16 year old with Spencer Davis band, moving to Traffic, then Blind Faith. Hendrix wanted to start a band with him before he died, Clapton loves playing with him to this day (look for all their videos). Clapton, one of the greats, seems to defer to Winwood on stage. All the greats wanted to play with Winwod. Winwood’s later music is underrated, and todays youth don’t even realize that a 50 year old song, Dear Mr. Fantasy, was the opening music to Avenger’s Endgame. R&R Hall of Fame is a joke, putting in all these rappers but not Winwood as a solo artist. A new Hall of Fame needs to be started. At 61 years old, I’m glad I grew up in the era of music that I did.
The tele gets overshadowed by the strat, rather unfairly, I believe, as evidenced by the notes Stevie wrangles from his tele all in one take...great tone, great songwriter, great guitarist, great pianist, great vocalist-God, it must suck to be Stevie Winwood.
Saw them 3 times in the 70's including the last exit tour with Dave mason showing up for a set at the Academy of Music in NYC, nothing compares quite simply the best,
Cannot you take and upload a 1080 rip of this? Especially at the Traffic set is so sought after, admired and not on DVD. For us fans it would download at 2x the quality/bitrate of mere 480.

A legend who lives up to being actually being one. So damn good, Stevie! (Traffic was a tsunami of music!)

A musician's musician, for sure! Stevie is at the top of my list! :)

What a great version! Can't get enough of Stevie's voice. Just like "Can't Find My Way Home." Makes the song magic.
Best Marvel Intro in history thanks to this song
Absolutely perfect way to set the tone
Absolutely perfect!! Steve sure can sing!! Inspiring song and the piano player sure does one hell of a job on the harp! Man, this song touches me.
yeah, I was noticing the awesome harp too!
Great concert, fantastic music. I am 72 and tears are running down my cheeks .... I love those great decades of music exposion ! I t will never happen again ... what a pity!
Makes me proud to be a human.
This song is still being played by young musicians. That’s a great testament of it’s ability to bridge generations.
Always love Stevie Winwoods music 🎶! Still listening to this stuff!
That amazing voice! He's never lost it; thank God! Love you SW!
I'm 51 now and actually found Traffic while in junior high. I actually found them from the Grateful Dead (they did a Fantasy -> Hey Jude in Foxboro). The Fantasy where SW has the green Gibson Firebird and looks like he is tripping ballz is my favorite
I'm pretty sure these guppies in the seats never heard of these cats until now, and were blown away!

Amazing version.. and what a voice
can still picture the original psychedelic video from 1972 -- love this
My favourite band of all time....
Thanks to marvel for making me aware of this masterpiece. Propably wouldnt have found this tune otherweise.
Made a road trip from Michigan to Missouri, melted this cassette!
And a great guitarist!
I just watched no less than 10 different live examples of this tune and he Never deviates from singing it properly with No Shortcuts in pitch. .... indeed a rarity. btw, 46 years old here...Looks like a kid still !!
His guitar solo at the end varies though. Which I welcome.
Totally agree.😁😁😁
Fantastic!
It’s crazy how different the 94 Woodstock was compared to the god awful 99 definitely a Turning point in music for rock n roll

A Master of Musical lyrics. Seductive Sounds of the Spirit, they've faded away into a nonsensical Realm. ✌✌✌
HERE IT IS THE ONE YOU'VE WAITED 2 DAYS FOR.....NO BETTER FEELING.....
Bloody amazing!
Amazing song.
This is the soundtrack of my life. :)
Mine too,
You must be too old to appreciate (souless) modern music .......
sometimes i think winwood is more creative than mccartney
i love that drummer, you can tell is really into it. This is probably taking him right back to his younger days. Music can that for sure !
isn't that Jim Cappaldi? Think so....
@@gabyvansant4533 The one and only, he is!
Yes Jim Cappaldi ( RIP ).
He wrote the lyrics to this song.
R.I.P Jim, evesham born and bread

I was there!! #Sebsong Music #RaysOfTheSun
I need a CD of their set they played here
It was the best set of the whole Festival. Pure Magic! I was there! Even have some photos I took.
Traffic is awsome
Still in that Fantasty
The incomparable Randall Bramblett on piano.
And harmonica! What *doesn’t* he play?
I was there with 4 buddies. 😊
Saw them 3 times in the 70's including the last exit tour with Dave mason showing up for a set at the Academy of Music in NYC, nothing compares quite simply the best,
That was the most intense and magical iteration of this band, although this is pretty sic as well
wow 28 years ago
Fantastic 👍🇺🇸🍺
Ainda bem que a arte é eterna

🤟🤟🤟🤟🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Traffic did a more solid set than some of the other greying rockers .
He’s a God
Who is that guy on piano, vocals and harmonica? On other songs in this show he was also vitruoso sax and flute!
Randall Bramblett
banda show de bolaaa
I'm assuming that's Capaldi on drums? So that would make only two originals. Has Mason and Winwood ever joined up since he quit the band?
Dear mr fantasy make is a turne, Sing song, play guitar, make as son happy 🎸🎶🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Still waiting for a Traffic Can mashup album
SW is also a guitarist - as good as any out there on his day including Clapton. He is a supreme keyboardist and peerless vocalist to boot.
Come join "The Steve Winwood Group" on Facebook!
Well, Stevie can play lead guitar!
Stevie could play just about any instrument there was and do it well. Before he was 20.
He can play drums, piano, etc. too!
He was in Spencer Davis when he was 15 , Steve Winwood is a bona fide musical genius and sorely under appreciated by sheeple at least .
Great time 😂

☘ Irish Honey Badger - 💖
What an amazing day✌🏻
A statement of confession and longing….
He is a talented man. Guitar isn't even his instrument, at least not the one I associate him with.
I thought Jerry Garcia played this w/ Traffic @ Woodstock 94 ? (confused)
There's a 9 minute Woodstock version on UA-cam w/ Jerry..
he played at Chicago's Soldier Field in 94. www.stevewinwood.com/news/5554
DetroitRockCity -jerry played this many times. He really liked it.
Traffic went on tour with the Dead. Jerry was not even at this Festival.
no soul in todays music
