    We had never heard about the VMAX VX4 but it quickly became one of our favorite all-terrain commuter scooters. The VMAX brand is new to the US market, but the popular Swiss brand has been producing electric scooters since 2015. Developed by Dany Dätwiler, whose family is renowned for crafting high-quality toys in the Swiss market, the VMAX brand was born out of a need.
    Dany’s encounters with parking woes in Zurich, Switzerland led him to electric scooters, eventually paving the way for the creation of VMAX in 2015. Today, we take a closer look at VMAX’s flagship model, the VX4, blending Swiss engineering with modern electric mobility.
    In this review, we walkthrough, take it for a spin, and tell you what we love and hate about the VMAX VX4.

    The VX4 is back in stock, with an upgraded version of the scooter, so the top speed is now 25 mph 🚀

    I drove the VX4 this morning. I haven't discovered the USB port yet. Thanks. VMAX has already released a few good scooters in Europe. They have their own factory in China. There are strict requirements in Europe for light and speed that this scooter meets.

    Love love love the turning signals. Those look like they have more visibility than the wolf scooters. The folding mechanism is super neat as well, and that's a crazy display for a commuter scooter. If this were priced below $1000 I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

      You’re paying for that ipx6 water resistance rating. Most scooters are ipx4 or ip54 which is much easier to do

    That is a very well made scooter. Looks like a cross between the new Segway and Gotrax scooter with the turn signals on the handlebars and a front suspension like a mountain bike.

    I own the VMAX VX4 ST (being the least heavy one w. 60 lbs (27 Kg), I agree with what was said in the video. I was digging for a lot of e-scooters that fit my needs, to become my daily driver to run errands. I utilized generative A.I. to find the one that matched my needs & must-have list. Versatility, durability (there ARE some shitty roads/bike trails where I live), endurance were my main concern but it had to be still capable to be hauled around. The VX4 checked all the boxes, minus the weight. Unfortunately, my VX4 is locked to 12.5 mph (20kmh) as I'm a German resident - I wish it go faster though 😅.
    I'm sure the UI is just a software patch via USB-stick away. I like that it doesn't require a smartphone, that it is independent from that. The only complaint I have is the weight (I live in an apartment on the 4th floor - no elevator) and that the latching mechanism in the rear for the folded down handlebar is indeed too sensitive. I'd have liked to see a sort of manual trigger-based release mechanism. Yes their prices is a bit steep (i.e. a replacement charger cost only a third off Amazon, being standard(ized) China-ware to begin with) but so far I'm having fun with its capabilities, even at cold temperature below 0 C.

    I have a VX5 GT (more compact model), it's super solid and has great performance for its weight and price. Also the throttle controller is very precise, has a nicer feel than the one on my previous ninebot. I guess the VX4 has a similar controller. Only bummer is it's limited to 22 km/h in Switzerland 😭

  • @kelseywhite3014

      technically, it can. The motor is very capable of doing so (I believe it's rated 1650 Watts but is slowing itself down electronically. Just dialing the power itself up when going uphill or a heavy person is riding it). But usually legal limits are the barrier here. Not to mention past 20-25 mph it becomes very difficult to handle in sudden precarious situations. Just yesterday I almost slammed into a car, who took my right-away at a crossing in which he had to wait. I even had my lights on in broad daylight. If I'd have been faster, I would not have been able to brake fast enough to a full stop.

  • @berengerchristy6256
    @berengerchristy6256 7 місяців тому

    These guys make a dual motor scooter. Nominal output of the motors is 450 watts, unclear what peak power output is. It only has an ipx5 water resistance rating, down from the ipx6 rating of the model featured in this video. Seems like Apollo did well with their city pro for it to have an ip66 dust and water resistance rating. If only it had disc brakes instead of drum brakes

    Guys if you can make a review on that new nanrobot R6 or the new nanrobot RS5 max? The R6 on rydology website is a 72V 24AH battery with advanced 21700 cells. But have no clue why RoadRunner doesnt have that R6 on there inventory. 🤔

    • @Andrew-vt4jt
      @Andrew-vt4jt 7 місяців тому

      RoadRunner stopped their partnership with Nanrobot. All the Nanrobot scooters you buy from them will have older batteries which isn’t a great thing for scooters.

    In Switzerland, security is on another level... you can use the kickscooter on the normal road at max : 20km/h, the total motor (all motors together !!) must be max 500Watts (25km/h is tolerated but policemen are almost everywhere in all regions - every 1km you will see the police in the city - a bit less outside cities)... trust me if you drive 100km/h in the city... I think that 3 min after, you will have troubles. :) I have never heard of this brand in Switzerland...
