I check out the CarLock advanced real time GPS car tracking & alert system!
I show you what you get in the package as well as the process to download and set up the app from the Google Play Store (pretty much the same process for Apple iOS!) before showing how to install the hardware before then checking out what the app can do!
I install the CarLock device into my F56 Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works but this device will work on basically any car since 1996!
The app is very easy to get and configure and the hardware install is super easy too - simply locate the OBD port on your car and plug it in!
To make sure of a good connection for data, CarLock recommend driving the car for at least 5 minutes but I started getting notifications on my phone almost instantly!
The app is easy to use and notifications are super accurate - very impressive indeed!
There is also loads of data and stats to dig into - if you want to (you don't have to but I enjoy seeing the detail!) and the interface of the CarLock app is very pretty!
I am very impressed with the CarLock device, app and functionality. Everything works exactly as expected and works well so - is it worth it? I would say absolutely, YES!
The peace of mind that CarLock provides alone makes it worthwhile having and all the rest of the cool features are a bonus!
24/7 CAR PROTECTION

ROUTE HISTORY
Easily review the routes and destinations your vehicle has taken in the past.
CarLock will monitor the route the vehicle took, the distance it has travelled and what date and time the trip was taken on.
VEHICLE HEALTH
CarLock actively monitors your vehicle’s electrical system and alerts you immediately in the event of a low battery or an unusual drain on the battery.
You’ll have the time you need to pull into a safe and convenient location and prevent a dangerous traffic situation.
MONITOR YOUR TEENAGE DRIVER
CarLock lets you detect troubling driving behaviours such as drag racing, stunt driving and inattentive behaviour. It does this by monitoring and alerting you to:
Unusually fast acceleration
Hard and sudden braking
Sharp turns and cornering
CarLock even lets you know whether this behaviour is a one-off event or a constant problem for your drivers by recording these incidents and giving the driver an average score out of 100 on a month to month basis. It will even let you know if the driving is getting better or worse over time!

Looks like a cool device. I’d suggest actually relocating the OBD port and then using the extension also to move the device away as you have. This is because thieves may be able to compromise the car security using the OBD port and this would mean they are looking for it and would immediately unplug your device to gain access. Someone tried to steal my RS some years back and they were trying to use a device to program a key and tried to access the OBD port. I had already relocated it for other reasons (Cobb AP) and this I believe slowed them down and they abandoned the theft. I have other security now as a result. You want your tracker as covert as possible ideally. Anyway love the videos!

My son's catalytic converter was stolen from under his vehicle. Will this prevent something like this from happening, like if vibration is detected if someone is underneath the vehicle?
For sure, any vibrations, even disconnection of the device will alert you. I got an alert once at work, luckily I had access to surveillance cameras to check right away but didn't catch anything near my car. So after I went back to the car, I found that the radar detector had fallen off from the window from it's suction, so that slightest vibration alerted me. 👍
i have 2 questions and I would be grateful if you could answer me if you know of course . 1) If someone opens the car door and finds that the carlock system is in the special slot and pulls it out, then the protection it offers is useless or I won't be able to see where my car is. 2) having it in the special case of your car and for some reason you have to be absent for 4...5 days. Does it consume your car battery? is there a chance I'll run out of battery? thanks in advance
Hi! Great questions, thank you! 1) if the device is disconnected from the OBD, you're immediately notified through the CarLock app on your phone so you can react. In case the tracker is too visible when plugged into the OBD, you can also install it using the extension or the power cable that we also provide. You can check the following blog post: www.carlock.co/blog/obd-extension-cable-power-adapter/ CarLock has a backup battery that works for 30-45 minutes after the device has been unplugged. 2) Regarding the battery: The device has different power-saving modes, so when the car is idle, it will consume only around 2mA. Even if your car is idle for a couple of weeks, there should be no problem, if your battery is good.
