I find it so difficult to recommend this game or anything in it - for the record, I LOVE KDM but the lack of communication, constant delays and constant flow of new releases while we're still waiting for content that should've been in our hands years ago is hard to justify to someone that isn't already invested.

unfortunately, those prices are ridiculously expensive, and there's so many innecessary plastic that you'll never ever use... the idea of the game is pretty cool, but it's something i'm 110% letting pass
Really love the concept, but the minis make the game really hard to get into : high price and never available when I look for it... The minis should be optional. They should sell an affordable version with only the books and cardboard tokens so you can proxy miniatures instead of waiting forever to get it...
Jesse, anyway you could do a how to play video or series. I love this game but am a relative noob at it so I don’t feel great about teaching it and I haven’t been able to find a ton of good how to play tutorials that I can show to friends to help them learn the game. There are always game play videos but something strictly focused on the how to play aspect of each phase as well as how to incorporate expansions in the game would be beyond amazing!
Great analysis mate. I have backed from the original and beyond and can confirm and back up pretty much all your points. Game play above all else. The spider is a massive pain to store and I have yet to play with it in campaign. I locked in stuff last year but will be restraining this year. Thanks for the guide for the community.
Heh. The miniatures aren't even needed to play the game. Sure they add eye candy, but just using their base with an indicator which is the front is all that is needed. As for the Spidicules, a flat base is best since models can stand on those spaces.

I was about one hour to(o) early online, this time I did not order anything. I think I will be waiting for an EU warehouse. Thankfully I have a Satan pledge (also the crossovers and 3d board), so will not have to think about adding the wave 3/4 expansions.

Though I would add in that the Vixen white box is the one that helps starting players the most. That's the only one I'd be hovering my finger over in the shop if I was just starting out. Edit: Also you could have attributed the artists with the painted minis? I don't mind you using one of my Lion Gods, but a little credit would have been lovely. (I know this was a rushed video, but I am constantly having to fight to ensure that the talented artists in the community get the recognition they deserve).
Absolutely - this was a rushed video and I grabbed the first few images from Google for reference. If I was working with, highlighting, or showing off art I would have made sure to showcase the artists. In this case - it’s very easy to find them just by searching.

I finally just pre ordered the 1.6 core box, and I am really fighting against my impulse of buying the Gamblers Chest. I'm not worried about costing 50 dollars more when it finally delivers, but about the availability in their store, as most of the expansions are always sold out. Help!!!
If you have the money - it’s likely going to keep its value. However - I don’t expect this to be the last time it’s available if you want to wait and see. It’s a good investment if you have the extra cash.
@@Quackalope Ah man this is so hard! haha I've watched this video several times just to try to convince me one way or another XD I guess that the most logical thing to do is just wait, play with the core game and try to buy it in next year's BF if the reviews are positive, or if there is another preordered open at some point in 2022. I will also test the logistcs regarding the shipment to Spain with just the core box, because I have no idea how that will be handled and how much VAT+DDU will I need to pay (and also maybe next year they will have a proper EU warehouse), which is also kind of scary!

@@yuarthur455 as far as I am aware, BF is the only time of the year that it has a reduced price, but if you just want to start with the core box and don't want to wait almost a year for it (I received my 1.6 core box like 3 weeks ago, and I pre ordered it in last BF) you can buy the core 1.6 right now in their store (there is no more pre ordered needed for the 1.6 core as it is now in stock). There is more than enough content in the core to keep you busy for months. It is shipping from the US Warehouse though, and I don't know if they will also ship it from the UK one in the future, so depending on where you live it may rise the price significantly with shipping+taxes (it would cost almost $600 for me right now, and I live in Spain), so I don't know how would that compare for you with the ebay prices. What I hope is that they open again the Gamblers Chest pre order next BF.

Haven't even bothered assembling and painting the models for the prologue, let alone play it... Perhaps it's not entirely fair to blame a game for the failings of the designer, but it's hard to keep those separated. So honestly... My advice would be to not buy anything at all. It's way to expensive for what it is, and the constant delays and lack of communication will drive you absolutely nuts.
Meh. TBH, I bought 1.5 with all the expansions. Played KDM for a few lantern years, realized there was WAY too much setup and breakdown. This was before the apps that made managing your settlement easier. I put the box away for a few years and sort of forgot about it. Decided to recently give it a go again. I played on TableTop Simulator and it's amazing. With all the automation it really makes me want to play all the time. That being said, now that I have gotten a good 100 hours of play time I have to admit........ I can't get enough of this game now. Now I want to own all the expansions and whatever content I can get my hands on. Now that I know I love the game, I know I want to own all the content the game has to offer. As a collector and person who likes to complete things, I can not wait for the rest of what is to be released. My 2 cents, take it for what its worth.

The game is fun, but certainly not without faults. One of the faults being how much it costs. :D Second how much the thing weighs. It's a pain to take places. Not that I need it since I am no novice at game creation, but I'd like to know what Poots considers when making a campaign. Mmmh I never got quite into kingdom death. I like some of the minies especially the big dragon and I would love to paint them but that was not enough to bring me in I think I still own the Cyclops Knight which was a gift from someone who tried to drag me into it...but yeah that sits somewhere in my big box of shame...along with thousands of Dollars of gw and forgeworld stuff.
I Am about to clean my house out of all my games I don't play anymore. I have so much of the warhammer fantasy stuff and chaos dwarf stuff from forgeworld. I even have that big ass red book by forge that had all the Chaos Dwarf rules and extra monsters in it. Now it just takes up space on my shelf. I'll likely be getting rid of my warhammer minis soon, but I think I;ll keep those two really nice books. Fantastic art inside.
I'll say that if I didn't buy everything for wave 4 and 3 already, I'd be priced out by the new retail costs listed, so while it makes sense to hold off, if you can afford the retail.. I couldn't justify those costs, but buying over the past few years has allowed me to get everything for a fraction of the price that it will be.. It is something worth considering, costs go up and that could easily price people out.
Absolutely that’s why I added context to the gamblers chest - however, the likely hood is that most who invest now in wave 4 will never play - or grow out of the project. The cost at this point has escalated quite a lot.

Now the prices are a very good representation of what I'd expect at retail compared to the existing expansions, so now is the time to pick and choose. Something to consider Adam promised no more sales until GCE was done and sent to the printers, shops been cleared all week, 3 hours 44 mins until the sale begins so its very likely the beast that's bottle necked this campaign is out the door (I really really hope so, cause I want wave 4 more than anything else KDM/tabletop gaming related).. KDM build has been updated with all the minis from the GCE its almost a given its finally done, just how long does the production of printed materials, final plastics and assembly take (most of the plastics been in a warehouse of a couple of years). I say this with baited breath but I think its finally done, so now we can start getting excited as the product starts to flow again....
I have some models and the first pinup set from the kickstarter, but never got the full game. I really love the models and if I could actually find anyone to play it with, I maybe could justify the cost of the core game, but even how gorgeous the models are, I can't knowingly spend the money on a glorified shelf display.

@@Quackalope man if the game was at least 250 i would call it reasonable, i could get 4 buddies and all pitch in to buy it, it seems to me that they really dont want THAT many people to be able to buy their game, well at least i would think that if it wanst almost always sold out, if im gonna spend that money id rather get a ps5 or upgrade my PC, hell even the oculus quest is 300 now, i wish the game was at 200, gloomhaven seems more affordable.
yep, definitely not chasing on the 4th wave expansions which are just getting ridiculously expensive (I agree, no idea why you want to invest so much money you can basically buy entire second hand board collections only for one expansion). I have to say though that I am still regretting few years ago when I decided not to include in my pledge manager a copy of Campaigns of Death (initially the price was 40$!!) It then went up and up and everytime I was checking all the new mechanics and additional content it would include the price was getting too high to justify the price. My strategy now is to basically have the campaign of death coming out, seeing if it is really worth to include in my KDM collection and then hoping for a BF sale on the website at some point in the (hopefully) near future
I think I understood after a while... 1.6 is orderable via backerkit. It is very unclear for a consumer in Europe tho... final price with shipping says $450, but it also states that import duties and VAT are unpaid. No chance to invest like this.

yep, definitely not chasing on the 4th wave expansions which are just getting ridiculously expensive (I agree, no idea why you want to invest so much money you can basically buy entire second hand board collections only for one expansion). I have to say though that I am still regretting few years ago when I decided not to include in my pledge manager a copy of Campaigns of Death (initially the price was 40$!!) It then went up and up and everytime I was checking all the new mechanics and additional content it would include the price was getting too high to justify the price. My strategy now is to basically have the campaign of death coming out, seeing if it is really worth to include in my KDM collection and then hoping for a BF sale on the website at some point in the (hopefully) near future

I think I understood after a while... 1.6 is orderable via backerkit. It is very unclear for a consumer in Europe tho... final price with shipping says $450, but it also states that import duties and VAT are unpaid.
