Toyota 4AGE : Discovered why the idle floats! (Corolla AE86)

- Here is a response to my original video in which I asked for help in diagnosing and finding the source of a problem in my Corolla AE86's 4A-GE motor, a floating idle (RPM going up and down periodically). After some suggestions by youtube viewers, I decided to re-bleed the cooling system and replace the radiator cap, as it might not be opening at the right pressure.
It turns out that the issue is most likely related to the throttle position sensor, as the floating goes away when I take out the sensor cable.
Thank you all for the nice comments, the fix/repair will be coming soon, so stay tuned!

In this case it was the TPS, but that is another source of unstable idle problems! I am sure your comment will help others with that problem.
Yeah, I have already replaced the TPS and will make a video about the repair. I have also adjusted the idle speed to a lower rpm, so the car will use less fuel on traffic. An excellent side effect is that replacing the TPS also took care of a long standing problem with the car: when I shifted through the gears there was a jerking motion throughout the car, when I released the clutch... It seems to be very much reduced now, the drive is much softer! Thanks again guys!
Healthy hachiruko got there and good tip for the idle i have a trueno sprinter lisse still in its original red colour and it has a 3AU 1500cc carburator engine which doesn't give that much power but am happy with it😊
it's the idle control valve. we've had this problem for many years and that's what finally fixed it
Thank you very much sir.
boas o meu ae 86 em frio tem problemas em manter rotação, só com acelarador e depois de algum e que estabiliza até lá embrulha um bocado. Que achas que devo ver?
hey l have a blacktop 20v and some time it tend to bern gas fast and ignite fire what do u think is the problem
You just fixed my car!
nice video
This happen to my 4age and I found out what is the problem .. it’s fuel surging , and my case it was cause by the sandwich plate between the intake manifold and the engine , I accidentally placed it wrong and a big amount of air was leaking through it .. I swapped it back and it was fix...
BTW Thats an 85 NOT an 86
Shut up nerd
