Sarah and I both have great memories of Salmon cakes from our childhoods, her is Idaho and me growing up in Washington D.C., worlds apart. Both of these recipes are easy to make and delicious (our kids even like them). Growing up on the Coast I'd never had crab cakes until I became an adult and left the Washington, Maryland area. My mom raised me on salmon patties from canned salmon. My dad insisted on topping them with white sauce and shirred egg...🙄. I'm not 'sure' what that is... 😂 Lol!! My mom would leave the bones in... My dad would complain. She'd say, "They're good for you...". An argument would ensue... I just picked them out... quietly...🤐. I think we ate them with fried potatoes... And bread and butter...
This video was especially touching for me. My mom passed last year in October. One of my fondest memories was that she used to fix salmon patties for us when we were growing up and serve it over rice. Thanks for sharing. I haven't fixed these since I've grown up but I plan to try your recipe.

So glad for this recipe because I am a backwoods country girl and live in Texas and granny would make these using cornmeal with flour and egg for the binders. So I'm pretty excited to make these I always have a can of pink salmon in the cabinet. Thanks again for a great recipe.
We usually have salmon patties every week. I mix everything together an hour before I'm going to fry them, and then refrigerate. I use a cookie scoop to apportion them, which works well for me. I also use the pink salmon I get at Costco, because I don't like all of the skin and bones. I had southern parents, so my mama made them quite often.

A while back I researched this..Trader Joe’s SeafoodCocktailSauce 1g carb 1g sugar. Louisiana fish fry products tartar sauce 1g carb 0 sugar... best tasting too. Oregon
When I was a kid, we lived on the pudget sound in WA. My mother always made crab salad on half an English muffin with a slice of cheese melted on top. Did you ever have that growing up? It’s so simple yet.....this was served in upper class restaurants in the area. And PUBS too.hahaha I think it was just a thing amongst folks who lived near the water......right up there with ceramic seagulls all over the house and fishing net decor lol.Maybe THIS is why everyone drank like pirates on the holidays lol. Also what everyone called Nuts and Bolts....homemade Chex mix.....with Worcestershire sauce garlic powder and butter. I was thinking that this recipe could be made keto with just the nuts and the seasonings and leave out the cereal. Now this SCREAMS Christmas 🎄
I am inspired!!!!!!!!!!! Need to modify slightly because I don’t eat pork grinds. Can you suggest a substitution for that binder? I didn’t grow up with crab/salmon cakes but I sure do love them now.
I more comment - watch the imitation crab meat - it can be carby and it often sold as crab, sometimes spelled Krab sometimes not. It always has that reddish outside and looks like pieces of king crab legs, if its not $20 + a pound it's probably not real crab legs. It's often in stuffed fish - such as flounder - or in the deli as crab salad. You're much better off using a packaged product with a nutritional label in this case.
I think the one in the can is real crab ....so no carbs but you are right about the deli & other sources. I was going to have crab salad and when I read the ingredients it was imitation crab....so it had carbs :(
I have always loved Ellie Krueger's cooking shows but she never really went keto so I think your recipes will be my go-to's when I get this weight off with carnivore and am ready to use keto again. I see that cjskitchen.com lists the macros for your recipes!
FYI: You should throw away the skin bcos all of the mercury & other toxins are just under the skin in the fat. Yes, you should keep the bones, but NOT THE SKIN!

A while back I researched this..Trader Joe’s SeafoodCocktailSauce 1g carb 1g sugar. Louisiana fish fry products tartar sauce 1g carb 0 sugar... best tasting too. Oregon

When I was a kid, we lived on the pudget sound in WA. My mother always made crab salad on half an English muffin with a slice of cheese melted on top. Did you ever have that growing up? It’s so simple yet.....this was served in upper class restaurants in the area. And PUBS too.hahaha I think it was just a thing amongst folks who lived near the water......right up there with ceramic seagulls all over the house and fishing net decor lol.Maybe THIS is why everyone drank like pirates on the holidays lol. Also what everyone called Nuts and Bolts....homemade Chex mix.....with Worcestershire sauce garlic powder and butter. I was thinking that this recipe could be made keto with just the nuts and the seasonings and leave out the cereal. Now this SCREAMS Christmas 🎄

I more comment - watch the imitation crab meat - it can be carby and it often sold as crab, sometimes spelled Krab sometimes not. It always has that reddish outside and looks like pieces of king crab legs, if its not $20 + a pound it's probably not real crab legs. It's often in stuffed fish - such as flounder - or in the deli as crab salad. You're much better off using a packaged product with a nutritional label in this case.
I think the one in the can is real crab ....so no carbs but you are right about the deli & other sources. I was going to have crab salad and when I read the ingredients it was imitation crab....so it had carbs :(
I have always loved Ellie Krueger's cooking shows but she never really went keto so I think your recipes will be my go-to's when I get this weight off with carnivore and am ready to use keto again. I see that cjskitchen.com lists the macros for your recipes!
