I lost my uncle three weeks ago to Stage IV Kidney Cancer (May 2nd, 2024) and whenever I listen to this I think of him. I’ve only recently discovered this version of “Starman” and it’s by far my favorite. To be honest, he’s my Superman because he was one of the few people in my extended family to make an effort for me despite living half-way across the world (Ukraine) and being an uncle through marriage. Plain and simple, he is my hero and I strive to be the selfless man that he was. Rest Peacefully Uncle Sergey 11/30/1960 - 5/2/2024 Светлая Память Дядя Сергей 30.11.1960г - 02.05.2024г Edit: Today (June 10th, 2024) marks 40 days since his death, which is big deal Orthodox Christianity (the faith of my uncle). According to Orthodox tradition, today is that day that his soul finally departs the world, and enters Heaven. So today is big day of remembrance and prayer for me. I still miss him dearly, but in my belief, I know he is in a better place. P.S. I want to thank all of you in the comments for your condolences. They really do mean a lot to me ❤️ Update (August 28th, 2024): It's been nearly 4 months since I've lost him, but I know he's been looking after me quite closely :) Update (November 24th, 2024): I thought about Uncle Sergey today. I remembered my fond memories with him, and I also realized how important he was in shaping me into the man I am today. He was one of the reasons I became an Orthodox Christian, and was one of the people who lead me to it. I became a Catechumen on October 6th, 2024, and will be baptized in April, God willing. Along with that, I also feel that I have become a kinder, gentler and more understanding man because of his impact on my life. Despite my uncle’s marriage with my aunt failing, he still chose to be an active part of my life. It is shocking to me (in a good way) that my uncle could have taken the easy way out and not have had anything to do with me (as his ex-wife is my mom’s sister), but instead chose love me unconditionally, and to be my uncle. His birthday is in 6 days, and I hope I can do something to honor him.
I watched some Starman shorts of people being rescued with my son, he is 6. He looked at me and told me "you are my starman papa" NGL, that brought tears of joy. I told him, one day you will also be someone's Starman!
One of my favorite panels is from a story where Batman is teaming with a street informant. During a ride in the Batmobile, the informant says “No offense, but Superman’s my favorite superhero.” And Batman says “It’s ok. He’s mine too.”
Seeing all these people relate to these Superman edits gives me hope for the world. I feel like Hopmaxxing is the best thing to come out of the "Maxing" trend. It feels like a more evolved version of the "HumanCore" or "CoreCore" branchest of the "Core" trend
This world is cold, broken, and dark. But that doesn’t mean you have to be like it. being kind makes it just a bit warmer, and a bit brighter. You might never notice it, but it makes this world just a little better and fixes it, even if just a little.
So I've been reading tons of comics online lately. The white knight series for Batman, Batman damned, the entire Batman who laughs saga, the entirety of injustice, and now I'm reading other Superman stories like Superman American alien. And I realize as I've grown up I understand now why Superman is significant as a character, I always thought he was dumb cause he's all powerful and shit but more recently I've realized the significance of him isn't that he's an all powerful god who happens to be a normal dude. It's that he's a normal, good, truly good person, who *happens* to be a god. It's an important character because he represents the absolute best of us despite all the opportunities to be anything else. He's meant to show us what we could be.
It feels so good to see people love Superman again❤ after so many years of people calling him lame and all that weak shit. I think it took Omni-Man and Homelander to make us appreciate the boy from a small town who wants to do the right thing.
My step dad always said “ nice people talk, good people Do” he died in a car accident last year and since then I’ve been try to live up to his words. I love you Marv.

So one of the top comments is something like Homelander: "I suffered! Why shouldn't they!?" Superman: "I suffered, but I will do everything to make sure they don't." Has around 2.5k likes. I wanted to say something about that. I don't feel like Superman would say "But", rather, I think he'd say *And.* He knows what suffering is, and he isn't helping in spite of it. He's helping BECAUSE of it. That one word makes such a huge difference in my eyes. Both are selfless, but to say "And" implies an even deeper level of self sacrifice to me, which is exactly what Clark gives. He is our Star Man waiting in the sky.
There's always a starman waiting for you. You don't have to meet him, you just have to believe. Hope, and hope, and hope, and never stop, because maybe, you'll meet your starman if you hopemaxx hard enough.

Theres this streamer I followed for awhile. His whole lore or gimmick was that he was from space and admired Human Culture. It seemed like a joke to me at first but after awhile I'd see him lose to other people online and he would never cuss or make excused he congratulated them on being better than him. He cried after getting like a 1 dollar donation. And when of his chatters explained to him how his life was going no where he spent a goof 15 mins on how no one really knows where we heading to regardless of direction. Iron giant is such a kind robot in ready player one he defends the main character sacrificing himself by becoming a walk way above a pit of lava truly a robot with a great heat
Great movie
Remember that superman had as much negative thoughts and impulses as everyone, he is an icon cause despite everything, he kept those impulses at bay and always chose to do good.
Superman saved lives in the comics, movies.
Superman saved the internet in real life
He also helped to defeat the KKK( by revealing their actual nature in a radio program I'm his early years), serves as the inspiration for many stories in various genres, and is still inspiring people to this day!
The ones saying Superman is a typical superhero don't remember that there wouldn't be typical heroes without him !

Superman is essentially *the* superhero. The guy who just does good things, and has the power to do all of it, no matter how tough, always with a smile on his face and an unyielding kindness.
I wish that these types of characters were the ones that people would say “he just like me for real” towards
people say theyre Batman. thats good
@@madmannn9576 yeah Batman is also good. He’s born into a place of privilege, but he still does anything and everything he can do to help. I’m not as big a fan as Batman compared to Superman, but you’re right, if people wanna be Batman then all power to ‘em.
Sometimes, you don't need complexity, you don't need anti-heroism, you don't need snarky remarks or grey morals.

Superman isnt just a superhero, he is a symbol. A symbol of hope, a symbol for the ones who want create a better tomorrow.
The S on his chest means Hope, and he should be the one that we aspire to be like.
For he is our symbol.

Rest Peacefully Uncle Sergey

Светлая Память Дядя Сергей
30.11.1960г - 02.05.2024г
Edit: Today (June 10th, 2024) marks 40 days since his death, which is big deal Orthodox Christianity (the faith of my uncle). According to Orthodox tradition, today is that day that his soul finally departs the world, and enters Heaven. So today is big day of remembrance and prayer for me. I still miss him dearly, but in my belief, I know he is in a better place.
P.S. I want to thank all of you in the comments for your condolences. They really do mean a lot to me ❤️
Update (August 28th, 2024): It's been nearly 4 months since I've lost him, but I know he's been looking after me quite closely :)
Update (November 24th, 2024): I thought about Uncle Sergey today.

I’ll just be happy when Batman and Superman are portrayed as friends and not fighting for dumb contrived reasons for the first interaction
One of my favorite panels is from a story where Batman is teaming with a street informant. During a ride in the Batmobile, the informant says “No offense, but Superman’s my favorite superhero.” And Batman says “It’s ok. He’s mine too.”

Superman: "I suffered, but I will do everything to make sure they don't."
