That's what I love so much about the factions of New Vegas. None of them are perfect. They are all deeply flawed in some way. It's one of the things that makes this game so compelling, is that the factions feel believable and grounded. Choosing who to side with is less about who are the "good guys", and more about who will provide the best chance for civilization to survive.

The NCR are the good guys, but they're really not all as stable as a lot of people make them out to be, there's a lot of indecisiveness, political infighting, and even some talk of pulling away from the NCR. Question is what happens when the Ncr gets pressured by a strong enough foe like the Legion, like the second battle of Hoover dam? Problem is in the game what we see is an overconfident Ncr, who thinks they can defeat the Legion again, since they did it once. We don't see what they would do after their defeat. Maybe they would recognise the threat, or they would just keep doing nothing.
You would think with how some of these folks are so salty about “the lore” they would take half a second to notice the NCR was starting to stumble during fallout 2. Like, we have president for life tandi talking freedom and progress while her government was busy stealing land from independent settlements and tribal communities. SPOILERS AHEAD: I think the Fallout Show will end with a 2nd NCR. Lucy's mother's and Maximus' lives in it give two of the three main characters incentive to consider it and revive it. I think they're ultimately going to create a new capital city and instate some kind of an attempt at ideal American government, a synthesis of Lucy's idealism, Maximus' respect for power, and the Ghoul's memory of pre-war America. Or, Mr. House gets involved next season and things go haywire, who knows? It's anyone's game at this point. P.S. In this house, Lee Moldaver is a Californian patriot and a goddamned hero!

The reason the NCR is the best faction, is because theyre the only faction genuinely trying to rebuild after the destruction of the world, and return it to a sense of genuine safety and normalcy without overarching aims of control or further destruction.
did you forget the Follower of the apocalypse do that as well and don't enforce law and order and brahmin baron greed. infact it down to them that ncr even managed to get on it feat and thrive after the curruption they split apart and it only went down hill. granted i respect the view point even if i am an Enclave fan.

He's basically saying Bethesda has the power to snap their fingers and make any faction in the Fallout or Skyrim series suddenly disappear with basically little to no explanation.
What's interesting to me about the symbol of the NCR is that it is very reminiscent of the Beast described in Revelation; it has two heads, one dead, the other alive and pissed off. I don't know if that was on purpose, but it's very cool, and fits with the biblical imagery and references in New Vegas.

I imagine the reason the NCR collapsed is that some State of the Union thing was happening in Shady Sands when it was destroyed, perhaps NCR didn't have a designated survivor system so the continuity of government was lost with Shady Sands, that being said, I don't think the NCR is dead, but the two-headed bear is wounded.
The NCR is like Rome during the crisis of the third century - bloated, spread too thin, and collapsing in on itself. And Caesar's Legion are the barbarians at the gates. Convincing the BOS, Enclave remnants, Boomers, and Great Khans to come together with the NCR at Hoover Dam is one of the best "rage against the dying of the light" moments in all of gaming I think.
This inspired me to finally devote every playthrough to the NCR from now on; they may be flawed, but the true idea of our America today was built on the backs of flawed men.
Bethesda can gain so many fallout fans back in their good graces simply by having the NCR victorious over the brotherhood of steel. If anyone from Bethesda on the writing staff somehow sees this… please we are so tired of the brotherhood of steel, enclave, and supermutants. Make the wasteland a place of endless potential and fallout a sometimes funny but very dramatic study of alternative history again.

I love how being retconned out of existence has made the NCR (in the fandom’s eyes) go from “I love taxes” to “Badass fallen empire that was the last part of the wasteland with any morality or functioning society, given almost as much love and reverence as the Enclave”
Such is the nature of man. He does not realize the value of what he has until it is lost to him.
A faction having fallen is always a tragedy, it’s another civilization or society down the drain. Death always makes us think about the big picture.
Hopefully they will return better than ever in future games

Vault tec destroyed there nation in the past. Then they found a new nation and home carrying the American dream forward and now they attempted to destroy there new home once more in nuclear fire.
Oh boy vault tec pissed against the wrong legs now. Kicking the NCR out of it's bureaucratic induced coma, shaking the life back into the BoS and provoked every enclave remnants living in the ncr now. Maby once more our sons and daughters in black will carry the flag of the Republic and it's dream.

I don’t see why they focus on the BOS as is now. Aren’t they just hoarders? You can only use the same faction so much without changing much before it starts to lose its charm, too. If they wanna keep using the brotherhood, wouldn’t mind seeing something different, like maybe a BOS branch that is disconnected from the rest of the faction.

SPOILERS AHEAD:
I think the Fallout Show will end with a 2nd NCR. Lucy's mother's and Maximus' lives in it give two of the three main characters incentive to consider it and revive it. I think they're ultimately going to create a new capital city and instate some kind of an attempt at ideal American government, a synthesis of Lucy's idealism, Maximus' respect for power, and the Ghoul's memory of pre-war America. Or, Mr. House gets involved next season and things go haywire, who knows? It's anyone's game at this point.
P.S. In this house, Lee Moldaver is a Californian patriot and a goddamned hero!

The reason the NCR is the best faction, is because theyre the only faction genuinely trying to rebuild after the destruction of the world, and return it to a sense of genuine safety and normalcy without overarching aims of control or further destruction.
I mean, the followers and minutemen were also trying to do that. Not that they were nearly as well written.

What's interesting to me about the symbol of the NCR is that it is very reminiscent of the Beast described in Revelation; it has two heads, one dead, the other alive and pissed off. I don't know if that was on purpose, but it's very cool, and fits with the biblical imagery and references in New Vegas.

I imagine the reason the NCR collapsed is that some State of the Union thing was happening in Shady Sands when it was destroyed, perhaps NCR didn't have a designated survivor system so the continuity of government was lost with Shady Sands, that being said, I don't think the NCR is dead, but the two-headed bear is wounded.
Democracy was founded on the East Coast.
It will not fall on the West Coast.

The NCR is like Rome during the crisis of the third century - bloated, spread too thin, and collapsing in on itself. And Caesar's Legion are the barbarians at the gates. Convincing the BOS, Enclave remnants, Boomers, and Great Khans to come together with the NCR at Hoover Dam is one of the best "rage against the dying of the light" moments in all of gaming I think.

If anyone from Bethesda on the writing staff somehow sees this… please we are so tired of the brotherhood of steel, enclave, and supermutants. Make the wasteland a place of endless potential and fallout a sometimes funny but very dramatic study of alternative history again.
