Word of advice: Some crash pants only have padding on the tailbone and on the side of the hip and thigh. Forget those and get something where the padding reaches your buttcheeks as well. I've found out through trial and error that a lot of times you land on either side of your rear end, rather than straight. If you have just a narrow strip of padding over the tailbone and on the hips, it's likely that most of the hits well be outside the pads.
It depends on what you want actually. If you don't want a sore butt, sure, definitely get some extra padding there. For me, I just want to protect my tailbone in case something nasty happens. The pain in my butt is actually a good reminder to not overdo my limit, which keeps myself safer than any amount of padding can.
Crash pants are a must for newbies! My tailbone was super sore after my snowboarding day so I got crash pants for day 2. Not only was my rear protected but I was able to shred with more confidence b/c I was less hesitant about falling back and hurting myself. Great vid Chris!
Damn Those would've been useful when I went snowboarding for the first time ever. It barely snowed at all that year so I kept falling on the artificially made ice from the resort. I was really sore the next day.
From Scotland so it can get really icy some days and often some solid icy patches. Falling on that sucks, it kills. Knee pads too plus i find it helps support them (my) knees a little.
I wear Booty Guard Tailbone Protector. Every time!! You don't have to take off your boots and pants to get it on or off. It's low profile, ventilated, lightweight, protective, and cost-effective. On Amazon or on SnowboardSecrets.com.
i have crash pants and i love them. low profile, yet protective. definitely increases my confidence on jibs! the only thing i hate about them is the fact there's no fly. makes taking a piss, as a dude, a lot tougher, lol
Deffo a good buy. Worn them for years even tho i dont fall much these days they keep your ass warm when sat on the snow. But decided to buy after a nasty incident going from basically standing up to sitting down on ice and it knocked seven shades of sh** out of me. Help massively when you do call on them. Only bad thing is can be a bit tight in the board pants so sometimes need to get a baggier pair.
Yesterday I went snowboarding for only the second time and it was the first time I went down the bunny hill without holding my friends hands haha. I got a 40 dollar pair of crash pants from amazon, and it’s the best investment I could have made. I got so much more brave, knowing that if I fell, I would be okay. I even fell really hard one time and it didn’t hurt and I could just get up and keep going. Being more brave meant I got better faster because I wasn’t holding back and anxious.
will there be any updated reviews on different brands of crash pants? i hurt my tailbone on a super icy snow in japan in march, although i wore D3O from demon already. thinking if any others can give me a more thorough protection. thanks!
do you guys use a backprotector? I've used one ever since i started snowboarding and a backprotector also saved my friend from a really bad injury, he fell straight on his back on to a triangle rail and it probably would have broke his back without the backprotector
SnowboardProCamp Cool i would suggest something like the salomon flexcell, not anything hard that wont flex at all because they are just pretty uncomfrotable to ride with
Now you must do a test with bicycle (foam) pants under a regular snowboarding pants, because in poor countries maybe will be tricky to buy those crush pants! Cheers mate!
Hey I’ve had 2 spine surgeries and one brains surgery. I had major spine surgery and am clear to snowboard the 29th. Do you think that this would be good for me. I want to make it so the impact is less if in fall and so I don’t mess up. Y tail bone. FYI my tailbone has nothing to do with my spine.
Going snowboarding for the first time this year. I've skiid before but I'm really looking forward to getting into snowboarding this time. Do you have any beginner boards that you'd recommend Kevin (or anybody here). Iv'e been looking around but I'm just not sure what to choose. I'd rather not rent because I'm planning on going yearly at the minimum, and just prefer to have my own stuff over-all. I have most of my other stuff such as helmet, goggles, clothing, mits, but not boots, bindings or a board. I'm not on an extremely tight budget either, but I want something that's great quality and will also allow be to ride anything such as just the slopes but parks as well. So if you have any recommendations, please let me know. Honestly I'm so excited for this winter, bums me out that I don't live in a snowy country though, hopefully I will in the future anyways. Keep up the great work, been watching you for about a year now and the content has always been great. Peace.
I would say start with burton, they are easy to resell if u find ur self not like snowboard at the end. But if u want really good boards with no budget limits , take a look on the good woods snowboard review. They post snowboards they think are the best. Then TJ has a website call board archive, he should have detail written reviews for the boards u r interested in.
I have these , It doesn't feel like you are wearing anything when you have them on. They are awesome. Also, when falling, try to turn and land on your butt each time and the shorts will absorb the impact.
They are fairly new (2017), they look more padded than the Xd30 v2. I would wait for reviews or simply go for them since they are the xd30 v2 newer gen.
I stumbled upon these videos last week and just subscribed to the channel! I love the content guys keep it up! Hey Chris, I think I saw you and Kevin both wearing the Spy Platoon goggles in past videos. What did you guys think of them? I may be picking up a pair for this season. Thanks!
Today I overshot a 5 foot gap by a long shot and landed 15 feet from where so was supposed to land and had enough time to decide how I wanted to land so I chose my butt and my tailbone is actually dead.
A bust coccyx, I’ve been told by some poor sod who’s experienced it, is the greatest pain you’ll ever know...& a doctor sticking his fingers up yer hoop to push it back into place the greatest relief. For the princely sum of £30 you need never experience either. Worth it I reckon🤣
totally agree .....they should be MANDATORY when learning along with WRIST GUARDS. Both of these items have saved me recently and have paid for themselves easily, nobody wants a busted aho, it will spoil your day altogether and make you reluctant to push your snowboarding, it took 2 weeks to heal that injury properly, if I'd done it on a holiday, it wouldve spoiled the holiday....great vid Chris......keep em rollin' maaaan..... :¬)

Good point. Which brand do you have?
check out the Demon United ones that have full D30 pads on sit bones and hip and a tailbone pad, my favorite.

Started using crash pant in last year mid season. Saved me big time!
Your first solo vid?! They grow up so fast :')
Thanks! My right of passage is complete.
I wish I knew about crash pants my first season. I defiantly could have benefited from them seeing as I spent most of my first season on my booty
These have saved me so many times.!!!! Definitely a must have
Damn
Those would've been useful when I went snowboarding for the first time ever.
It barely snowed at all that year so I kept falling on the artificially made ice from the resort. I was really sore the next day.
I think i need these.. i feel as if i hurt my ads more times than i can count!
You could make a video review of them
Every snowboarder needs these, beginner to expert we can all benefit from a little crash insurance.
One of my best investments. I ride most on the east coast where we have a lot of man made snow and ice. These have saved me many times
I made my own by sewing a super think yoga pad thing into some boxer briefs!
From Scotland so it can get really icy some days and often some solid icy patches. Falling on that sucks, it kills. Knee pads too plus i find it helps support them (my) knees a little.
Looks like some Amazon sellers are using your video in their product page. 1:09

one time i fall in Chapelco (argentina) and the floor was soooooooooo hard that the pain last 3 months!!! thank for the tip

+Leevi21 I've never worn one, but will check them out for this season!

Definitely buying myself a pair this season! Good one Chris!
I have a pair of demons and I love them. Only down side is the no fly for the fast piss breaks.
when I fall I don't fall on my butt, I fall on my face
Marcus K Floored me with this comment! 🤣🤣 Could put the crash pads on your head? 😜
Nice job, buttface.
after falling a good distance off a rail these are a must a broken tailbone seems like one of the worst things to break
just picked up my season pass yesterday for a ski resort in southern utah and i am going to picking up some crash pad this year!!!
I wonder if I should buy Salomon defender or Salomon alibi
Which is your recommendation
What size do you use?

Anyone can tell me how effective is it this kind of pants?
I need these & wrist guards
Hey Chris, keep it toasty man! Thanks for the video!
Thanks Joao
When the Winter season is in full force, will you guys please do more VLOG style videos? IMO they are super enjoyable and teach the viewers a lot.
+Dusty vHD we definitely have more vlog style videos to come! Will probably be the majority of our snowboard content!
Impact shorts need to be a standard like helmets. MORE FUN LESS PAIN

+HawxHunter Almost done making a beginner snowboard video now!
If only I've watched this before my first go on the board.... 🙂
Man when I fall on my butt it's the only thing that really hurts me
Demon FlexForce X D3O Padded Shorts V2
I have these , It doesn't feel like you are wearing anything when you have them on. They are awesome.

Decent indeed
Has anyone tried their X Connect Pants?

You should upload more
Me or the channel in general? I agree on both counts

Hey Chris and/or Kevin!
+Young ADV Hey!
Hey ho!
Definitely a worthy investment.
This video is relevant to my butt! Oh, it was painful.
I rather need a rib protector, crashed twice
learnt the hard way before getting them :(
Today I overshot a 5 foot gap by a long shot and landed 15 feet from where so was supposed to land and had enough time to decide how I wanted to land so I chose my butt and my tailbone is actually dead.
Falling onto a box really hurts SMH
Yeww ‘chris from snowboardprocamp’ 🤙🏽😉

What about when you face planted?
Crash pants rule
try riding a freebord
oh god. Those things are death traps
Thanks for the heads up Hank Moody, I want to try but look like a great way to get injured before the season starts
Chris Eyres I owned one for a time. They ride nothing like snowboards and I ate it at 20mph downhill catching a rock. Yeah, id stay away man.
