Love Maria & Lone Justice...first saw the original band at the famous Marquee club, London when the great Cyndi Lauper joined Maria for an old blues song. All my birthdays & Christmas's right there ❤❤
Loved Lone Justice. I still have their first albumn on vinyl. Ways to be Wicked is my favourite. Loved this band and Maria. A very talented beautiful lady ❤️ 💥
Maria McKee is a national treasure. Perfect Dress, Breathe, Panic Beach and so many more get directly to the core of a way of feeling that can put you in those moments. Her songs let people know they are not alone and give solace and happiness.
SO great to see Maria! I long for a new album of more straight ahead pop/rock songs from her! Truly a magnificent artist. I hope she's happy and well. I love her! I've said this a lot but that scene in L.A. was an incredible time when Lone Justice was formed in the early 80's. Such a diversity of music and it was bursting with energy and talent, NONE as much as this whirling dervish of a girl! Infectious joy, A kick ass band, and a voice that makes grown men and even metalheads weep! Rock on sister❤🤘😎🤘
Never knew Maria wrote this song, but I’m not shocked as she’s one of the most talented and CRIMINALLY underrated female musicians ever. Ever. Wonderful to see her!
@@IvyMay-qn2ysyou must have caught her on a bad day. If you have in fact ever seen her. Saw her half a dozen times, blown away. Also look up performance artist, it is not relevant.
@andrewgm5710 Yeah, Having perfect pitch doesn't always equate to having a powerful stage presence. Lots of musicians can sing in key & have an amazing range. But that doesn't mean they have the It factor. There's a reason she didn't become a huge star. It's got nothing to do with her talent. Because she can clearly write great music.
The late , great Robbie Robertson, once said that Maria McKee was an accomplished a singer as the brilliant Linda Ronstadt . Now that's high praise indeed ,as Robbie knew more than a thing or two about music and talent and class !
As a kid, I was a big fan of Lone Justice back in 1985 when they were opening for U2. Still a huge fan of their first record. I hope Maria McKee makes some new music. The current situation in music, with streaming, is ideal for her because now she can put her music out there without any interference from the labels, which is what killed Lone Justice.
Yes, Maria rocks! it came out in 1985 I remember discovering it on the radio. D. Stewart knew for sure how to make hits sound good by then~ Took me longer to find out about the great Undertones, but now I still enjoy it all!
My sister lives in Park La Brea now. Small world. I've loved Maria since "Ways to be Wicked." She just has one of those voices that grabs you and doesn't let go. She sounds great here, and I saw an interview where she said that she spends long periods of time without singing, then just picks up a guitar, and it's like she never stopped, and she's 60. Mad talent she has.
I've been a Maria McKee fan since the 80s. I've never even heard of this song. The arrangement sounds very 80s synth pop. Would love to hear Maria's version of it. I hope she is doing well. Love you Maria & God Bless you!
I never knew or heard anything about Maria McKee til this video. I had a cassette of all these 80's pop songs with Feargal singing this song. It was awesome. I was in England when this song and Life In A NOrthern Town were around I believe. Also some Thompson Twins Doctor Doctor. So many great songs from that era. I recognize some of the places at the beginning of the video in L.A.. Kinda looks like the area around Venice.
Amazing vid. Good heart and you little thief, were the beginning and end of teen relationship that felt like forever, for 8 weeks. Shortly after I was working in Bruxelles, Dublin pub, not city. Maria hooked up with Simon Carmody, a rockstar, or legend in his own lunchtime, but had been the Golden Horde, and exuded belief. They recorded friends in time, which had a 60s feel, and vid. Still a class track. Dublin was buzzing then, don’t know if anyone will read this - but if a reactor does - do friends in time blind ❤👍🏽😎👍❤️
I never knew Maria McKee wrote this song! Great song and performance! It was the only song on Feargal's debut album that I cared for... I do know Maria McKee played Bono's guitar on "People Get Ready" 🙂 Love that live version!
I bought a Lone Justice on '45 with a picture sleeve, then the '33, then the cd when I was converting. It was the mid eighties, so record stores had both at that time. Patti Smythe was another powerhouse singer at the time. I just don't think the industry knew what to do. Maria was ahead of her time.
I met you in Houston Summit y’all were opening up for u2 for 2 shows. I was stationed by your dressing room door you were very nice to me you talked to me and asked me about my life gave me an autographed poster and you got all the members sign it. I asked you if you had a fancy autographed pick you didn’t but you scratched MM on one. I still have it. Saw you again a couple of months later @ summit again open up for TPHB. You didn’t have to be so nice but you were I’ll never forget it.After y’all’s great show you did an interview with Redbeard bong in hand.so pretty.💯
Netherlands has an ear for talent, there is another Dutch Maria video on UA-cam from some years ago. Maria is criminally under appreciated, a truly great singer/songwriter.
Damn. Just realized Maria is my age 🤯. I saw Lone Justice open for U2 in 1987, and I was like WHO IS THIS WOMAN 😍!? Her self titled 1989 solo album is great. I used to listen to the CD over and over again. She should have been a bigger star. So talented. Such a great voice.
Wow never knew she wrote the song. Never was into much of her own output but her vocals are something else.. Show me Heaven is a good ballad but her vocals made it so special. And I’ve got one of her 90‘s solo record. Good stuff. A true artist.
She's also in the videoclip of 'Somewhere By The Crazy River' by Robbie Robertson and she also sang backing vocals on his debut and self-titled solo album, on the track "American Roulette".
The way Maria interpreted the song would have never propelled it to #1. Dave Stewart saw the jewel and produced it in a way that it would. Fergal singing is also outstanding, anyhow it's the amazing sequencers and refrain choir that made the song.
One of the drummers, the blonde babe wearing green is Gina Schock of The Go-Go’s. Her solo album House Of Schock would definitely be enjoyed by any fans of Lone Justice or solid pop rock in general.
There's something great about seeing Maria turning into an eccentric older lady. One hell of a voice, as well. On another note, looking back at Feargal, I can't help but wonder just how much hair conditioner blokes were using back in the 80s. Paddy McAloon was rocking the exact same barnet for a while around that time as well. What would they have done without their hairdryers?
Proof if ever it were needed that Dave A Stewart clearly recognises a hit single whenever he hears it. But in all seriousness, Dave Stewart was and is a good record producer. Feargal Sharkey was obviously a very decent singer in his day. Now is an environmental campaigner due to his passion for fly fishing.
Feargal Sharkey absolutely nailed that song. 10/10
for sure....his will be hard to better...
Especially the last verse, his voice is so good there
I know,
I think about it all the time.
I believe you because I listen when the expert says.
@@YtuserSumone-rl6sw Very good 👍
Love Maria McKee!! And her work with Lone Justice. Great singer, so distinctive. It's so lovely to see her.
So fab to see Maria interviewed. I wish she would do more but I also understand she has given a lot. Phenomenal talent.
She's so spirited, I was like "it's an old interview and she had her hair dyed silver "
New Lone Justice album was just announced and will be released in October.
Hi is this really true? 😊@@noneofyourbusiness4616
Her solo records are magnificent, been listening for 30+ years ❤
Her first solo album is my #1 even after all these years. Couldn't live without it. People need to hear it. Wish she still toured.
I was surprised when I discovered that Maria McKee wrote this. She was so young when she had a hit with Show Me Heaven
Indeed. And this was 5 years earlier.
Yes indeed. I never knew that either. Greetings from the Netherlands
This song will remain one of the classics !!
So much a classic I falsely remember it winning the Eurovision song contest
Feargal has become the voice for clean waterways in the UK.
Wow! Wonderful to see McKee!! I remember her from Lone Justice in the 90’s. She was a part of my growing years ❤
It's lovely to see Maria. I've been a huge fan, especially when she was in Lone Justice. She looks and sounds so well and happy.
Dang, I'd still know Maria's voice anywhere. Still so distinctive and clear as a bell.

I didn't discover them till Shelter came out. Wheels was my favorite off that album.

“To Miss Someone”, “Am I The Only One…”
What a genuine and brilliant lady !!
I love that Feargal covered this song the way he did. Maria deserves good skin care products.
