NTA. Calling a 12 yo a grown woman is creepy.

Periods are scary? Why does she know nothing?

I find it strange that the daughter is unaware of all this stuff. Doesn't she have any friends? But BIL is an idiot, and what he said was pretty creepy. I'd say NTA because OP didn't actually ban him, just gave him a firm boundary.

It should have been the mother who explained to her daughter about periods and what is means. The bil went too far but he was just being honest. I don’t understand why people get so uptight about natural bodily functions. Im 67 now but I can remember being told ‘you’re a woman now’ when i got my period, but I understood what it meant

Kinda the AH for the overreaction but he is the AH too because idk when or why it became acceptable to call young girls like 11 or 12 grown woman’s because they got their periods. Not cool at all specially because they are not they are just child still but saying he will never see your daughter again is a overreaction too.

I mean biologically he is not wrong in the sense that she can be impregnated and carry a child ofcourse there are instances some girls can't but through out human history that was not strange to think like that either. If someone from just under 50 years would hear how we talk and sensitive we are about these matters they would think we are crazy. The bil should have some tact and let the parents do the talking in these instances or not speak so direct a plain but i think the parents are not doing themselves a favour by acting all protective as if he abused her which would scare their daughter even more and normalise talking about it would help better. each to their own i suppose.

@@Kyoya-Atsushi No, not really. Periods happen at the start of puberty- A girls body can only carry a child without insanely high risk of death AFTER puberty. Which usually ends late teens / maybe even early 20s if youre unlucky. What the BIL was saying was incredibly innapropriate and disgusting- Thinking of a 12 year old girl being impregnated? 100% ick and is a warning he may be a danger to them. Thats not a puberty talk he was doing, he was imagining this *child* having s*x. Even people 50 years ago would find that disturbing.

no, you don't talk about that stuff with other people's 12 year olds. Also, saying she is a woman now because she can get pregnant is the creepiest way to talk about that

@@scotteckert3955 sounds like you are a jerk. It was fine at the beginning, but he continued talking even when they told him to stop. He should have stopped and that would have been it. Easy solution.

Calling a 12 year old a woman just because she had her period is just gross.
I was called a woman when I got mine, I was fcking 9 years old being called a grown women.
Children are children until their 18-20 years old. Anyone who says other wise I dont want anything to do with.
