Test Cut Vinyl with Brother ScanNCut DX

- Before cutting vinyl, take the time to do a Test Cut with your ScanNCut DX machine in order to ensure that the settings are correct and that your vinyl will weed exactly as expected. Test Cutting is the process of tweaking and refining settings to get the perfect outcome.
In this tutorial video, we show you precisely how to use the Test Cut feature when cutting vinyl. The example I use in the video is adhesive-backed vinyl, but this technique will work for heat transfer vinyl (HTV) as well!

Great video as always. I did some vinyl cuts this week HTV on a bag. Came out really cute. I then took the same design and enlarged it rather large as it will be an outside decoration for the front of my house. Well, I was using my cm650w, my 12x24 mat. Thought I had things all together did my test cut. The blade was too low so I set it up and redid a new test cut. Stupid me I set it to 7. Did another test cut did not realize that I had already cut through the mat with the second test cut. Proceeded to cut the design and I cut right through my mat. I know better and do not know what I was thinking. I was thinking the paper that I was using was very thick when indeed it was not it was thin. I taped up the back of the mat and the whole from the test cut. I wil be replacing that mat. As I will still be using cm650w besides my new sdx230dx. I love both machines, Brother scan n cut has made a tremendous difference with the new machines. The Scan cut machines are truly what every crafter should own. Thank you for the awesome reminder and demonstration.

Hi Julie, why would the blade rip the vinyl? I’m using a brand new auto blade, which also cuts vinyl. I’ve just had to purchase a new cutting mat, so getting the vinyl starter kit was not an option for me right now… any suggestions will be very helpful 😅

Whats the difference between cut pressure en cut pressure half cut?
I want to cut vinyl (half cut on) and changes the cut pressure because te cut was to deep. It worked. But i dindnt change the half cut pressure.

trying to activate my SNC rotary auto blade kit. taken to Brother Canvas with registered SNC. It shows a Brother cutting machine 332. what is that? I have a DX325. I searched web and YT and can't find a definitive answer. 4/29/2023
