one detail that I really enjoyed seeing - the two headed monster that Alex is confronting - if you pay attention to it’s hand, you can see it’s pointing to itself. We know it’s Julia. She’s trying to show that to Alex.
I think Until Dawn had that too at the end, where they say either "no survivors" or "survivors" plural, regardless of whether or not there was only one still alive.
Consider this: Alex, absolutely starving, left alone on the ship, going mad with hunger, finally gives into temptation and eats one of the corpses. Wendigo Alex on the ship, the only real monster.
Even with the distributor cap broken, there were plenty of things on the deck of the ship to improvise some sort of sail and paddles. And Alex's decision to head back into the ship is pure bonkers, doesn't make sense.
What are you talking about? There's several endings where somebody improvised a paddle and goes out on the Duke, and it's pretty much implied that they died out on the ocean somewhere. And the decision to go back in isn't all that ridiculous, since they know the crazy shit down there is just hallucinations and they already survived it so it's not a suicide mission....plus he's looking for food to stay alive.
^ plus alex still ends up believing his hallucinations anyway, despite literally realizing they were hallucinations way earlier. very hard to take his decision and actions seriously.
Trueblade also their was no reason to stay on the ship when it literally hasn’t been discovered in 70 years even though it’s a big ass ship on the water
Well, It's not only implied, it's clearly shown in the very first ending in this video that trying to peddle your way to land, you die. Brad is show in the Duke, dead of dehydration. Looking for food is not a horrible idea here, Alex specifically says that he wants to look for Rations and Cans, on a military ship. They don't know exactly how long this ship has been here but Military rations can be good even up to 10 years. If he doesn't know how long the ship has been out here, looking for maybe still good military rations designed to be edible for a very long time and to by nutritionally great is a good idea. As for still believing the hallucinations...it's very easy to say with a clear head that you know it's fake...but the whole point of a hallucinogenic toxin is that it affects your mind, it looks real to you and you can't convince your brain otherwise.
You know... you dont need the engine running on the duke to use its radio. Boats have batteries just like cars. Could totally call for help with it at any time.
Even though I like both Until Dawn and Man of Medan, I have to say that Until Dawn still remains superior over Man of Medan, in my opinion. Until Dawn was thrilling- especially since we don't find out who the real murderer is until halfway through the game, when it was finally revealed to be the Wendigo. It gave me a feeling of apprehension, pondering who or what the actual killer was. At first, I thought it was Josh who was doing all the killing, since he was dressed as the "psycho", but he only pranked his friends, and didn't intend to hurt them in any way. The characters in Until Dawn also seemed more rounded in my opinion, with more complex personalities than the characters in Man of Medan, whose personalities weren't as detailed. The plotline of Man of Medan also wasn't as engaging as Until Dawn's was. Man of Medan was scary...but, it definitely wasn't as scary as Until Dawn was. However, I like how there is a handful of different endings in Man of Medan, and it really shows how the "butterfly effect" can cause various outcomes. I also liked how they based the game off of real events as well.
I agree that until dawn is better, but also Men of Medan is just like an episode of a series so that's probably why is not as good, let's hope the next episode gets better
I feel like the next game should have a mixture of both. Until Dawn's well rounded story and characters, and MoM's butterfly effect choices that has real consequences.
@Arnold Schwarzenegger Until Dawn characters were way better. You should read about them more on the wiki page for them. I thought the characters were only okay and one sided but there is a lot of information the creators made for the characters but never let in the game. Never explains that Emily never actually cheated on Matt. They should of included it all better in the game.
Yeah, I've completed this game 4 times already and the closest I've gotten to a good ending is a bittersweet ending with Julia being the sole survivor.
There's another one where they immediately escape on the Duke of Milan if you keep Conrad around as well as retrieve the distributor cap. So, it's *not* the _only_ happy ending... I guess?
I love when the decisions you make are never good or bad because no matter what choice you make you will still be judged and that’s why the curator is my favorite character he still judges you even if you made all the right choices
Dang it none of these ending has someone find and use the gas mask to go back in , get food ,water and supplies and then put sail on the duke !!! They tease you with the mask and then don’t use it right lol
DX Grant I know hun, it save the one girl because brad doesn’t attack her if he find it but I was saying it would have been a fun ending to see if they used it more to make it seem like it helped get stuff to escape
Raijim true but old can goods and freeze dried rations would have probably been better than nothing especially after seeing those ending with stuck on the duke looking hungry and sun burn lol
I mean- yeah? It'll probably make it easier to understand the fact that different characters can be in the same place other characters were. Like for example- julia could be the one pushing down door 2 instead of Alex and julia would be replaced with fliss- there's also one where alex is where he's supposed to be but uh- conrad is the one running away from the pirate oof.
The reason why this game was very short is because it’s supposed to act as a movie. I believe that this game was mainly meant to be played with other people, which is why it’s about 3 hours so it’s like you’re watching a movie with others. No one isn’t going to be there with you for more than 3 hours. Hopefully there’s more but obviously this game was meant to be short
If the comments are right, seems these aren't all of the endings; it's actually possible to get everyone, even Junior, out alive on the Duke of Milan without encountering the military even if you called them. Seems that's the "happiest" ending possible, or at least technically "best" because Conrad was actually in the thing. Pretty weird that the guy plastered all over the cover art can disappear for most of the story. Only managed it because I got spoiled about Junior, pretty sure he would've died on my playthrough otherwise.
I got all alive junior dead distributor cap received I couldn’t stop junior from sucide but I know how now ima get this ending and than the coast guard ending and than I’ll be happy 😃
All the hint to the next game Liittle Hope : The not so obvious ones : - The T-shirt of Conrad is saying Salem - you can see Olson with demonic eye in some endings - Fliss saw in the red room a satanic book + a blood fountain The obvious ones -You can find a "alternative future" picture showing a possible death in Little Hope - The curator mentions it in the end
I got a different ending again. Conrad escaped in the powerboat early on. Kept the other 4 alive, got the distributor cap, they leave. Conrad shows up with the coast guard. Boards the ship and wonders where everyone is. The door behind him opens on its own. He decides to go in and gets stuck in there all alone. The others never know what happened to him...
a few scenarios im wondering about that didnt come up in the video: - is there an ending for each character being the sole survivor? - what if conrad escapes early but everyone else dies? - can julia be the sole survivor then die from the bends?
Kinda, if "Scarecrow" was a military operation that was classified by the US government in order to keep illegal biological chemical weapon smuggling and experimentation under wraps.
This could have been an outstanding game, had the characters been made more interesting and their interactions more plausibly human. The possible endings is a great touch, showing how much decisions made in game matter. The plot is pretty interesting and the subversion of what appears to be a typical ghost ship plot is refreshing. If only such niggling issues could have been ironed out.
Yea my biggest problem with man of medan was the abysmal voice acting, ive just started little hope and the acting has improved a little, hoping it gets better with the rest of them
@@SpiritsMC5YT Since where's talking here about the military, Why the US one ? the Ship is in the pacific, probably more near from a local Pacific nation then a US territory, why would the SOS would get recived by the US military and not a local Nation's force that don't know anything about that whole manchurian gold ? Im probably missing something. Can someone explain ?
In my ending Brad Died. Julia, Alex and Fliss got away on the Duke. And Conrad got back with the coastguard. What pisses me off the most was, Conrad was away for 10 days, got a haircut, changed his shirt, got his ''Backup'' which was one guy, and got back on the ship alone...
The curator No one die : *write noting on this book* (cause Death have no name to write) Few die : *write on this book* (cause Death do his work) All dead : *ROFL* (Cause he is Death and you kill everyfu*kingone)
Every time I see some creature or monster In the scene I always forget that it’s not actually there and that the character is just hallucinating off the “Manchurian gold”
Just completed it. The ending I got was Conrad escapes early Brad is dead, everyone else is alive with the cap. They leave Conrad arrives and goes into the the ship alone and you get the old lady jump scare at the end.
It'd be fun if the Curator was a personification of Death and his repository with all those stories were all the lives and souls collected. Also a bit disappointed that with all the endings there wasn't a whistleblower ending. Like you need everyone on the ship to collect certain collectables and that becomes the evidence to expose the story of the Ourang Medan but when reporters try to find the ship the military has already found a way to confiscate everything. Would have been a nice touch.
@@antigonus1161 Yeah he's always only around when a character is close to death. Like depending on what you do as Fliss and Brad changes if the Curator appears or not in the "Ritual" scene.
That especially wouldn't make sense within this story. The government had 75 years to clean that shit up but apparently didnt give much of a shit lol. They wouldn't start now
@@kylesmith8061 in accordance with the story this is based on the ship has been missing on an unknown course. In the military helicopter endings the military either kill or imprison the characters to clean up the mess, depending on how you identify the ship to them via the radio changes if they find the "her" the Ourang . If the lore has a cover-up then a whistleblower would have both made sense and be satisfying / creepy.
Anyone else curious about Fliss’s phony license? Like I thought she really was working with the pirates, and if you found her license with another character than that storyline was unlocked, but you get the chance to confront her and then she denies and that’s it. It think it would be awesome if she was working with them but if you don’t put that clue together then you never have any storyline with that. Instead she’s got a fake boating/diving license(can’t remember exactly what it was) yet she doesn’t have an explanation? Unless I didn’t get a certain scene with that?
Jama Jama I think it and the papers you find that show she’s about to have her boat taken as collateral by the bank are both to explain why she’s doing this in the first place, and why she decided to let them do what they wanted. She needed the money so she agreed to take the rich kids out for a dive
i dont think that the control centre back in the video would have accepted the call from the duke of milan to check in on the weather conditions if it was a bogus license and she was not the owner of the boat.
@@williamwoods214 but the control centre would ask her "wtf are you doing in the middle of the sea in this storm" if she had no license to let divers dive.
8 months later and still don't understand why Alex would run back into the ship... I mean sure he might not know it's caused by gas in your playthrough, but clearly they'd connect the pieces eventually that nothing happens when they're outside and not inside
Can anyone tell me how to get the ending where they all die before the credits roll and the curator laughs at you??? (31:32) There's always someone left alive whenever I try it and having the military wipe them out doesn't work either as it's a post credit scene Please help 😭 (Yes I already have the "not a sole survivor" achievement, but I only did that because the military killed Brad right at the end)
I feel u missed a few maybe? thinkin hard about it. what if conrad escapes early but not everyone lives only a few, or maybe just 1 dies what would he say etc, feel me. a bunch more as well, but overall great upload
@Drew Draws! ya bro, but I mean like when conrad comes back to save them he says "I was sure I was bringing someone back in a bodybag" when they all alive, so I wonder what he would say if one of em did die
@André not only when Olsen kill Julia, all the playble characters can fight Olsen including Julia, I only don't know if Brad can fight him but all the others can and Julia don't need to die
I thought that I couldn’t win when Conrad got away at the start, I did everything right and destroyed the device, but I made Alex stab himself even when suspecting the monster was a hallucination! I didn’t know doing nothing was an option…. All on my first blind play through too. Could have got the Conrad saved the day by accident haha
My friend and I suck at these games. We fr always end up with the worst endings. Just when we thought we saved everyone for once the plane comes in and kills everyone 😭
It's a reference to the real Ourang Medan, a Dutch ship that supposedly went missing in 1947. Widely believed to be a hoax due to several conflicting sources.
@@DM-ty9iv a reference? you know they go inside and travel all throughout the ship right? the whole game would be a reference since it takes place on a ship labelled the "Ourang Medan". what im talking about is the ending of the game, was this a secret ending? or is there something more? @@santossmith9847 right, but the theories about the real Medan were based around speculating that the US military was somehow involved with the sinking of a Dutch ship and had covered it up. The game changes a ton of the lore.

Yo this game has hella fucked up endings. In Until Dawn the best ending you could get is everyone lives and the worse is everyone dies. However in this game the best is everyone lives but the worse ending varies on how you look at it. I know nothing about video game programming, but couldn’t they go back in and fix the creepy dude closing the book twice before he starts talking to the player?
The real best ending is missing. Watch TheRadBrad's ending. Basically nobody dies, junior also lives, distributor cap not broken. Going back home with the Duke of Milan, Julia didnt get sick in the middle of the way back..
There's also an ending that's All alive + Junior except Brad, distributor cap received. Junior sledgehammers the military team while Alex and the bunch leave with the boat. Alexiaraye and Valkyrae played through that ending last week
@@TomahawkGaming-uh9ny Detroit have 99 endings and Until Dawn have 256 only by who survived, this game probably has something around 120 endings considering all outcomes and who survived, this video shows basic the outcomes, and didn't even show all.
Some of the outcomes are repeated and are different by only slightly one line of dialogue. He showed all the ones that are true endings with no repeats
This game really needed a supernatural threat. Once everyone knows it's just hallucination gas, you don't attack anything and it's all good. Plus, it would have explained how the ship managed to sit there for 70 years and never get discovered, as well as multiple other plot holes.
I don't understand how in some ending scenes you see smoke come out of the ship's chimney. It can happen when everyone is dead or they escaped, so weird.
_Biker _ it’s supposed to reference the actual myth of the ship, where, as the ship was being towed, the crew on the boat that discovered it reportedly saw dark smoke coming from the ship before it exploded, leaving nothing behind
I think they went WAY too fucking hard on the crazy shit, because it quickly reaches the point where it's just TOO ridiculous to be ghosts, and it's really obvious nothing is threatening, with how relentless, yet ineffectual, the "threats" are, so you figure it has to be psychological rather than paranormal. When Danny was leading Brad and Fliss around, and shit started getting weird, with Danny running off, then reappearing, and disappearing again was about the time they lost me.
Peyton mac Yeah still don’t know how no one found this big ass ship in 70 years and no one saying anything about it being a plot hole in the comments xd
@McGinnis 34 Oof that's wrong, of course someone in the ship hanged themselves but if you take the time to check the name of the painting that shows you that, it is called Little Hope and is placed in the center. Also they don't wear the same kind of outfits as the characters.
These arent all the endings. The one i finished had them ALL lived and the distributor cap was recieved and Conrad went and got help. BUT by the time they all left towards saftey, conrad came back to the ship to see if they were still on there and conrad most likely died cause he went into the ship and didnt come back out.
These guys are so dumb. To set up the scene, the distributor cap's been lost and apparently their emergency distress transmission fell on deaf ears. They are all alive (minus Brad I guess, though this scene would play out with him too I bet) but come to the realization that there is no way off the freighter and no one coming to their rescue. The first thing they think of is either going out for help any way possible (Fliss) or going back in the toxic hallucinogenic fume-ridden ship to look for food supplies (everyone else). Here's the thing: Fliss is on the right track. The thing they need to focus on is rescue. The Duke of Milan, as well as the Ourang Medan, should both have flares for emergencies. They need to use these, as well as controlled fires, to create a signal visible to planes or other ships. In the book *Lord of the Flies* , the group of boys is split by a conflict of interest: Make a fire in order to be rescued, or go hunting for food. One is a long-term solution, the other is a short-term solution. Same thing here. Looking for food can be done after all other attempts of rescue have been exhausted, not before, especially when the inside of the ship is toxic. Also, the Duke of Milan's radio is still working, so I don't know why they can't still radio for help.
A fire isn't gonna do anything if they're in the middle of the ocean. They still have to cross their fingers that someone is going to investigate it, let alone even see it. The radio Is a good point, tho. I don't think we have any reason to believe they can't call for help from the Duke.
So there's really only 5 endings. The rest is just amount of survivors... There is: Get the cap and escape. Don't get cap, saved by Conrad in boat Don't get cap, use radio/good info, and get imprisoned. Don't get cap, use radio, and get gunned down Don't get cap, don't use radio, stuck on boat/float at sea.
How about : 1. All alive(Conrad leave early), distributor cap reveived 2. All alive(conrad leave early), distributor cap broken, and Julia already decompressed after diving
I hate how Junior is just there and the devs don't do anything with him in the endings I mean, Junior does end in the boat with them dead but he didn't say where he wanted to go. He's just not in that scene. I am not gonna hate on the game or call it shit. But the polishing department is actually shit in here. Was there even a polishing department?
You knew it was Josh bc you never played from his P.O.V.
I respect your opinion.
Although Man of Medan kept me up at night for two months,
and Until Dawn for only one.
37:00 is the only happy ending. Rest is depressing asf.
Yeah, I've completed this game 4 times already and the closest I've gotten to a good ending is a bittersweet ending with Julia being the sole survivor.
@@teehee3657 Meanwhile Im trying to murder everyone to make a true good ending.

So, it's *not* the _only_ happy ending... I guess?
@@crypto66 yes there two happy endings.
Nah to me 1:00:00 was the most happy
Out of all the possible endings, the decision of coming back inside a ship that gives you deathly hallucinations must be the dumbest of them all.
I love when the decisions you make are never good or bad because no matter what choice you make you will still be judged and that’s why the curator is my favorite character he still judges you even if you made all the right choices
Did you know he always appears in split-second instances where a character could potentially die...? The Curator is Death Incarnate...
Dang it none of these ending has someone find and use the gas mask to go back in , get food ,water and supplies and then put sail on the duke !!! They tease you with the mask and then don’t use it right lol
Ship is 50 or 60 years old so foods Probably fucked
@@devistater28 So does the rotten gas mask
DX Grant I know hun, it save the one girl because brad doesn’t attack her if he find it but I was saying it would have been a fun ending to see if they used it more to make it seem like it helped get stuff to escape
Raijim true but old can goods and freeze dried rations would have probably been better than nothing especially after seeing those ending with stuck on the duke looking hungry and sun burn lol
Oslo03 it seemed to be useful enough when brad had it for the short period of time keeping him for attacking fliss

This game needs a flow chart like Detroit Become Human.
yessss
I agree. It can be confusing keeping up with all the choices you've already made.
Tbh shit was dry with good graphics
It also needs to be as good as Detroit Become Human
The reason why this game was very short is because it’s supposed to act as a movie. I believe that this game was mainly meant to be played with other people, which is why it’s about 3 hours so it’s like you’re watching a movie with others. No one isn’t going to be there with you for more than 3 hours. Hopefully there’s more but obviously this game was meant to be short
It's around like 4 hrs and 30 mins
If the comments are right, seems these aren't all of the endings; it's actually possible to get everyone, even Junior, out alive on the Duke of Milan without encountering the military even if you called them. Seems that's the "happiest" ending possible, or at least technically "best" because Conrad was actually in the thing. Pretty weird that the guy plastered all over the cover art can disappear for most of the story.

That was my last play through one lol
I got this too
a few scenarios im wondering about that didnt come up in the video:
- is there an ending for each character being the sole survivor?
- what if conrad escapes early but everyone else dies?
- can julia be the sole survivor then die from the bends?
Conrad will come to the ship but will gone crazy because of the hallucination

This could have been an outstanding game, had the characters been made more interesting and their interactions more plausibly human. I never realized there was SO many ways to break the distributor cap. I’ve seen it broken at least 3 different ways.

These arent all the endings. The one i finished had them ALL lived and the distributor cap was recieved and Conrad went and got help. BUT by the time they all left towards saftey, conrad came back to the ship to see if they were still on there and conrad most likely died cause he went into the ship and didnt come back out.
KPOPcalypse this is already a well known ending by everyone. It’s pretty useless to put in here when everyone has already seen it.
The radio antena is broken

Alex probes Fliss about who she killed but lets it go and Julia talks a bit about her brother. Than the credits start and there are two end credits scenes, first two military guys (the helicopter you called) search the ship and get killed by a pirate Junior I guess. And after the trailer for Little Hope. Where a bunch of people get slaughtered in the woods and Scarborough fairs is playing.
I made a list and there’s actually around 292 endings with all variations considered.
Can you send me the list? I am very curious
