I saw a tractor driver stop behind a tree, pull out a panga (machette) and pull a couple out the ground
    ..
I went over and spoke to him..
He said to take 2 or 3, cut them into quarters and boil them in 2 litres of water for about 30 minutes .. then strain out the water and put the water in the fridge..
    He said you'd drink about ¼ of a cup undiluted daily.. 75ml - 100ml
(He gestured a 4cm gap with 2 fingers)
He said more hot water could be added to the potatos to gain more liquid..
He said it is normal after the first couple times of drinking to have diarrhea as the body detox's..
I believe he said the potato could be eaten after being boiled.. but he emphasized that the liquid extract was reason for him collecting a couple..

Is the main tuber of this plant ever cooked & utilized as a food crop or is strictly used as a medicinal plant?

Is that a kukri knife you used Bertus?

Helo helo. Yes. kukri. this one was from a army surplus store, so not quite as thick a blade as you would expect. It is still a useful knife though
