    Thank you for the video. This helped me feel confident to proceed doing this. I never thought of changing the thermostat as preventative maintenance.

    You had great camera views of the thermostat housing on the 2.5 liter! On my 2016 Escape I was able to access and remove the thermostat housing and hoses from the top, and pry off the lower radiator hose (held on with a clip to its’ plastic end with orings inside!) and flush the system. Thanks for the clear video!

    mine lasted 7 years on my 2017 s model ford fusion. it started leaking from the thermostat housing. The leak was very slow but going fast on the freeway eventually all the coolant leaked out under pressure.

    What size of pvc tube/hose you're used on radiator drain bung???

  • @josephdelorenzo351
    @josephdelorenzo351 8 місяців тому

    A couple questions. Is the location of the drain valve the same on my 1.5L 2019 ford fusion se? and I've seen people run water to flush out system so is that something that needs to be done, or no? my car has 67k miles on it but I'm at the lifespan of coolant, I guess. Oh, and I live in Florida if that matters.

    • @justdoityourself
      @justdoityourself  8 місяців тому +1

      Good questions. Unfortunately I don't know for sure where is a drain valve on 2019, but in 90% of all vehicles it is on the drive side. Do not put water in the system, unless it got contaminated with something and you need to run water to wash it off. Water will dilute your new coolant and it will be difficult to get to the proper concentration.

    Looked like you left the drain plug in and let it leak from the side of it into 3/8 hose is that correct ? Didnt really see how you bled it did i miss something? My boys got a 2019 and temp light comes on with code for coolant temp sensor already changed it and its not overheating so iassume the thermostat is sticking open thanks for any help sir

    • @justdoityourself
      @justdoityourself  7 місяців тому

      Yes, plug has to stay in, otherwise the fluid will not go into the hose. I didn't have to bleed the system, other than properly fill the system with coolant.

    Few questions? You can pour coolant in while the engine is runnning? Also my radiator cap says green but at autozone they said the gold works just as well. I’ve drained my coolant and replaced my water outlet gasket but the car is still running hot so this is my next suspect

    • @justdoityourself
      @justdoityourself  Рік тому

      After initial fill up you should start the engine and keep filling up. Color is just an additive and has no impact. Just use a good quality concrete and distill water mix.
      Does your radiator gets hot? If not replace the thermostat.

    • @guardianhollow
      @guardianhollow Рік тому

      I did exactly this step by step and coolant is not keeping cool. Pressure and heat keep pushing coolant out of my radiator 😂 well guess it's not the thermostat

    • @marcusanthony470

      Don't ever do flushes unless the vehicle has low mileage

    • @marcusanthony470

      That goes for coolant and oil just drain and fill

    • @justdoityourself
      @justdoityourself  2 роки тому +1

      As it was mentioned already, a flush is done under pressure and often forces fluid to travel the direction it usually does not, so that can cause particles and debris to get loose and cause the problem.

    When you reinstall the radiator cap at the bottom you start threading then you push it in it pops in

    Plus radiator clamp tools

    Hello !
    Ford Fusion 2016 2.5 I connected the computer to the car, the engine themperature shows 99 degrees Celsius, the fan turns on every now and then. is it a broken thermostat?

    • @justdoityourself
      @justdoityourself  2 роки тому

      With 99 C the fan should bo on all the time. Basically the fan should kick in after 90 C. Could be air in a system or thermostat is opening too late.

      Very good question. I have spent lot of time trying to figure out what coolant can be used. And the answer is Prestone (all vehicles) coolant. You can by premixed or concentrate. I always by concentrate and mix it with distilled water at 60% coolant 40% water.

      All modern vehicles are shit. Made incredibly difficult to work on to discourage you from doing it so you get robbed at the dealershit and 9 out of 10 times they don't even fix it, not to mention built with shitty materials. For example the heater hose right in front of the thermostat has a Y that's made of plastic. Guaranteed to rupture and leak
