    This is a very important topic with strong legal consequences. Several thoughts
    1. Organization should have an employee handbook to clearly state policies and procedures. For example, how is sexual harassment claims handled? In a lawsuit your uniform resolution of this issue will be clearly scrutinized.
    2. In Stephen Covey's great book 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, his Habit #5 is to "Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood." Before you jump to conclusions or give the appearance of a biased party, you must know the facts. People will have a greater feeling that justice has been served if they had an opportunity to communicate their issue.
    3. The ideal outcome for a legitimate issue between the parties is that everyone feels that they have achieved a Win-Win solution. The book "Getting to Yes" highlights this point.
    4. Leadership needs to clearly communicate their expectations and their policies on regular basis to even avoid disputes in the first place. This can be done through regular training, or an example set in the company.
