Hi Luke, I've worked in the cleaning industry for many years, what I notice with auto detailers is that the majority of the time you guys spray the chemicals on the mist setting rather then a stream setting. While it may be more effective this way, from a health perspective you are inhaling some of the chemical this way and this adds up over time. In office cleaning we have reduced this, for health reasons, we spray into a rug or as a stream. At the end of the day these are strong chemicals that have side effects. I learned how toxic chemicals can be, when doing a builder's clean of tiled floors in a bathroom (rest room). To clean the left over cement on the tile after it was laid, we use diluted hydrochloric acid. Two days later I get a call from the customer, asking if I had used acid on the stainless steel fittings in the bathroom (rest room), which I had not done. The fumes had corroded the stainless steel. Just thought I would share and hope it helps. Thanks for the time taken to make the videos much appreciated.
Yeah safety is important but absolutely nobody is using hydrochloric acid to detail their car or anything close to it. The only use for that would be for very aggressive rust removal which would be done off the car and that’s more along the lines of body work not detailing. The chemicals in HCL and car products just are not comparable or in the same category of things. With that said, I have never regretted wearing a respirator. There’s really no reason not to. Also it’s very coming for metal to flash rust from HCL fumes if they’re in the same room. Probably would have to use a layer of grease or something like you find on new rotors to avoid that along with anything else you all do to neutralize the acid and remove fumes from the area.
I know a detailer who got some kind of lung disease from detailing cars and he had to hire employees & can't work anymore because he still has the disease
I never get overspray at the doors and its best to work inside out and up to low. I start by vacuuming the middle dash and seats, then I clean them. Then i’ll vacuum the car and finish by doing the doors and door step. Then you do the carpets and put them back in. That way you don’t have do to anything twice and the doors being open the chance they get back dirty is higher. You can start with the trunk or end with the truck its however you prefer.
Definitely agree on the carpeted floor mats! It’s actually quicker to just spray them with your product, use a drill brush, rinse them, and let them dry, rather than try to spot-clean them!

Hi everyone. Question 1.On the door jamb what chemical do you use (apc or soap)? 2. The door rubber, what do you use to clean it? After cleaning do you apply liquid wax? Or just soap and water? Thanks
An apc is weaker thean a degreaser. You make the call..if the grime and dirt isn't so bad just use an apc and agitate and wipe clean..but usually I use a degreaser and a steam cleaner but the degreaser is good enough..and to put protection. Use any protection of your choice that is made for vinyl,rubber,and plastic
I typically use superclean in three different dilutions. Any would work on door jams. Lightest on leather and front dash. And then I love Meguiars hyper dressing diluted 3-1 has a coating for anything rubber plastic
I would be a little more careful hosing off the inside of the door. It looked like you got close to spraying water in the door actuator. There is most likely power going to that actuator for the power lock. Water gets in there and it could ruin it.
Could you tell me the steps you would take if you were in my shoes, I would really appreciate it, I don’t have many people to goto for guidance….. How would you go about starting atleast a side business detailing with 500$ Where to start and what to focus on first, second and so on? Thanks alot

Do a little research, watch the whole video or multiple videos. Not everyone can do everything for you, take a little initiative

The reason I add a "soft wash" in my standard Interior is because I found that it helps disparate the sand/dirt like you said. 👍

I have been using a bucket and pump sprayer of onr to clean almost all the hard surfaces. For the tougher areas I use a brush and steam and maybe apc.
