Great review. Kind of creepy, that everything you print gets sent to their server. They have a copy of everything everybody prints. Wish you could make your own slicer server.
+tubejim101 I need to investigate that part more. Cura on the desktop slices everything itself, the cloud slicing is specifically for the app. I'll try to get more info from Ultimaker.
@prime Technophilia I would like to know what company(ies) tried that? Are you sure their EULA didn't say the specific slice algorithm and result output file is their IP not to be sold or transferred (the actual file itselft, not even the print)? That could make sense and not mean the product that is printed
Hi Joel, Thanks for the great video! I have a quick question if you have time to answer: If I were looking for purchasing a 3D printer, would you recommend getting the Ultimaker 2+ Extended or Ultmaker 3? Is there a machine that you would recommend over the other from your experiences? Thank you!
Most excellent Unboxing of the UM3, sir. Watching the BTS during the live stream was priceless. But. With all the bells and whistles it comes with, the build volume is still the same. Not impressed with that single aspect of a full refresh of this 3D printer. The @gcreate3d gMax 1.5XT+ still reigns supreme. #highfive
looks nice and good unboxing. They need to make this extrude system for the ultimaker 2. I got the extend and dont wanna spend all that money just for dual upgrade.
Hey Nerd: I was wondering, I notice that Ultimaker includes a tube of some glue stuff to smear on the build plate to promote adhesion of the printed part. In another video review I was made aware of a Flash-Forge 3D printer which features a proprietary blue synthetic stick-on sheet of plastic that is said to eliminate the need for glues, tapes, hair sprays or any of the other methods used to get your printed parts to stick to the build platform. I'm wondering if FlashForge sells this blue stick-on plastic as a replacement item so that one could simply get some of that and stick it on the build platform of the Ultimaker and just do away all together with the need for any of these other adhesion promoting methods? I don't own either of these 3D printers but I suppose if the blue synthetic sheet is available for sale by itself, it could be used on just about any printer to eliminate the need for any messy adhesion promoting substances or methods.
Hmm... I think the Flashforge sheet is a material meant to be similar to BuildTak. They make the sheets that can go on nearly every 3d printer. Lots of other companies make similar products as well.
Hi Joel! I have been recently following your channel and you have inspired me to take up a new hobby. Im totally brand new to it and have much to learn and kind of on a budget right now, but I was wondering is there any "beginner" 3D printers you recommend? Somebody told me the M3D was a good one to start out with but I wanted to hear from you.
The M3D is not a good one from what I know. If you're looking for budget, the MP Select Mini is a good machine, and inexpensive. SeeMeCNC has some great machines, but they are a little more pricey. Their H2 is suppose to be great and priced well. The Prusa i3 mk2 is good stuff as well.
Hi Joel quick question. My flash forge creator pro suddenly stopped pushing filament out. I thought it was a simple clog. Cleaned everything out good but when I load the filament it barely comes out. It acts like under extrusion. Stepper gear is moving. Could the motor be bad? The filament that gets pushed out when I load looks kind of stringy and chewed, but the gear looks fine as I can tell. I'm stumped:(
What is this can make ? May you please first tell us the name and what we can make with this kind of machine, then after you can open and sit-up . Thanks
Are the print heads consumable if they wear from Glow-in-the Dark or other harsh materials or are the nozzles able to be replaced or swapped for a hardened nozzle tip?
Abhishek Abhishek no, i get most of my files from sites like Thingiverse even though i can draw with inventor. If you want to draw things yourself I'd recommend tinkercad or fusion 360. Btw autocad isn't for 3d drawing that's what inventor is for.
Aside from the FormLabs 2 this is the 3D printer I want. I know there are less expensive options, but in my research it's hard to beat Ultimaker in many regards. Ultimaker, FYI you can send me one. I will build a channel around it. I know, I know. It's Trollish to ask. Look at my pic, I'm a Troll. A Troll in a suit. Trolling for a UM3.
3D Printing Nerd ahhh i missed that video! Well ok then. By the way love your channel it really helped me get going when i got my prusa i3 and anytime i got frustrated you always had a video that helped solve that perticular problem.
3D Printing Nerd You are in luck then. Just made a custom bed mount yesterday for my Anet A8 to help make bed leveling a bit more reliable. Worked like a charm. imgur.com/a/Q7b9q

I'm more worried about printing a handle for a glue gun, and the government thinks your making gun parts, and you end up on no fly list.
Thanks Joel, I'll keep watching to see if there were updates.

Love the new camera set up

Joel,
I see you missed installing the filament guide for spool 1. Your not the only one that has missed that. Happy Holidays. :-)
Hahahah. true! Happy holidays to you and yours as well!

I would love to get a 3D printer. Is it bad that I don`t actually need one?

Any "beginner friendly" programs you recommend?
I looked them all up and they are great! Out of them all which would you chose?
wow great review man. i wish i could afford a printer want one so bad maybe one day :/
Is there a plan for a full review in the future?
Can you please make a video on the micro 3d printer
My library has a free 3d printing service, and they use this 3d printer
I've always complained about the size of my "work space". It's the size of your office so I'll stop complaining now lol

Can a room be too cold to make a good print? I have a flashforge finder, and it's about 50 degrees here. Anymore ideas?
i think thatll warp the filament because it's cooling too fast, use an enclosure kit
Is there a plan to do a full review of the Ultimaker 3?
Yessir, that is in the works!
Have you ever try making a mascot like for example the Chicago bulls mascot " benny the bull" would you consider this a challenge?
Are the print heads consumable if they wear from Glow-in-the Dark or other harsh materials or are the nozzles able to be replaced or swapped for a hardened nozzle tip?
The site claims that the UM3 can print up to 20μm resolution... have you tried verifying this claim?
Not yet, though, I do plan on it.
you said there was a chip in the spool holder, does that mean you have to use ultimaker filament or can you use any 2.85 mm filament.
+The Urban Ape its open filament, but they use NFC to assist!
3D Printing Nerd okay thank you😀
Dude. Awsome shirt!!
+Jessica Brandt thank you!
Desde cuando messi se volvio youtuber?
I suppose Ultimaker sending you a printer stopped you from looking into whether or not Ultimaker is evil?
absolutley love your videos!!if i didnt have 4 children....i would def buy the ultimaker lmao so awesome!!
For the price of $3495.00 and a build volume of 8.46 x 8.46 x 7.87 in. It looks like they are out pricing themselves.
can you do magnetic/flexible with the double extruder?
Did you get that printer free? Did you get to keep it?
+rastoma it's just a review unit :(
I live in the Netherlands!
Hi sir, can you please compare this one with Raise 3d N2 plus.... Thanks in advance
Can u make a review for the Powerspec 3D Pro Printer
So pretty
what do u do with your 3d printer after you done reviewing them
+squid films some I keep, some go back to the manufacturer, some I donate or give away

time to change your name. to 3D Printer nerd
sir do we need to learn designing course like AutoCAD or solid works to use this technology? Please tell

what does the RF antenna in the spool holder do?
can you send me the nozzle from the davinci 1.0 pro? I can't find one anywhere
3:48 is the best part
because it was sent to you for no money, you could have called it the Ultimaker Free
ZING!
:)
Where's the result?
Will you ever do a ultimaker giveaway? (I know they are expensive its just only chance broke college students like me could get one)
+tankkiller308 I did for my 100k contest :)

I'd love an Ultimaker but they don't even have a price, you have to get a quote to buy one. Lame.
Success! Awesome.
This is my 2nd time watching this video😀
Nothing like the zortrax m200 the best 3d printer
Looks cool but not for me. I prefer a DIY printer you can fix or upgrade by going to town with a grinder, drill or printer itself.
fix a printer with a grinder or a drill? THAT I want to see!

It is so small. I wanted to print a sign post. Not going to happen.
A sign post? Wouldn’t wood or metal be better?
NICE
