Sounds like something strong with an arranged group. If you know you're going to have a cuman ally you can pick a civ with fupg cav archers, tech into heavy cav archers, and receive essentially 30 free units for the team as long as everyone knows to make them as soon as they hit imp and make sure they all hit imp when the tech finishes. These techs are impossible to balance for random play though. Even if you know you'll have an unknown cuman ally there's like an 80% chance they never research this.
I think it would be interesting if instead the tech unlocked the 10 free Elite Kipchaks for you, but for your allies it unlocked the possibility to train them indefinetly, although no more than 10-15 at the same time, and having to pay for them, say 25% more than what they cost for cumans. This would give cuman allies more flexibility in their tech tree and make more sense, since these units would cost more to represent that they are mercenaries and balance it out.

I have an AI Question for you. about 1 in 3 games (I tend to play 5-7 AI on various teams or as singles), the AI just stops. There seems to no reason. I typically play Hard AI, more recently i've given Hardest a go. Yesterday I played a 8 Player MegaRandom map, with 4 teams of 2. Mega random gave us nomad start with 5 villagers and a scout. My AI ally sent his scout off and nothing else. Literally nothing else. I got my market up and running to see what was going on and it asked me for resources. After I checked up on it and realised it hadnt done anything I tried to send resources to see if it lacked anything but still it did nothing. It often happens on river/island maps.
Ok, maybe is a stupid question but, what about a scenario 4v4 with 4 cumans? Each pay for 11 kipchak and have 29 free for a total of 40, that's already quite good as army right?
I'd argue it's even more interesting for non-CA-Civs as it gives the opportunity to get some raidy bois going. Sure this only applies when there is some sort of barrier between your Cuman ally and yourself but it can really throw off your enemies guard. Even Aztec or Teuton kipchaks are still quite a wildcard, eventho those are pretty much bottom of the barrel, lacking even the most basic upgrades.
Personally, I'd really like it if it was a repeatable tech. Research it to add 10 Kichaks to the pool. Would make a Mercenary Confederation, Italians and Cumans, really spicy to play as.
A fun change would be that the tech unlocks Elite Kipchaks for all your allies to train (unlimited numbers), with the Cuman player receiving a portion of the cost of them. This would be useless in 1v1, but the tech is already pretty useless in 1v1.
10 units is not enough. Price effectiveness as it is not the issue, the fact that you can't replace them is the problem. 10 units of any type will die quickly in any proper Imperial age battle. It would be better if you could just train them (at usual cost) from your castle, so you pay for them but can replace them. Perhaps there could be balance problems given the particular civ bonuses but if the pop was capped at 10 of those at a time it wouldn't be a problem (and 10 is low for this type of unit, it is not like 10 war wagons or 10 elephants we are talking about here).
TBH very few people use those mercenaries and I think the upgrade has to be changed to become more popular somehow, for ex. leave the cost as it is but increase the number of Kipchaks OR reduce the cost????
Yet another exception to the rule made by FE, they really love introducing "innovative" elements. This is just total bullshit. They created a 1 in a 100 situation that is nearly impossible to see coming, it has nothing to do with normal gameplay. Let's say your enemy civ is not mobile, why stone wall your whole base? Well now its the only way to counter this. 10 of these guys in your woodline in the wrong time and you can say gg. Other than that this unique tech is useless in 1v1, there is a seperate teambonus for a reason.
It should have been their team bonus and the tech had to be the +2hp to pallisade walls. (Or some other number that gets them as strong as stonewalls.) I mean it just like the genitour for Berbers and their allies and the Italians for condottiero. That would have made these units more valuable. Especially after the nerf.
Imagine if they would add another ( bronze ) unique technology to feudal age that would be researchebal in TC example: 100wood 50gold - cuman cavalry moves 5% faster and more
@@ggmr399 or so bonus would be great in castle age when you would be 5%more faster than enemy and 15% more if they wouldn't even research husbandry and in imperial 20%more it would make cumans goood again
It's called mercenaries because you should demand a tribute from your allies to help you pay for it. Could be a good way for a pocket player to extort their neighbors to weaken the enemy before betraying them.
Imagine if instead of being free and only recruiting 10 of them, allies pay the regular cost but half of that goes the Cumans player and they can recruit as many as they want.
Damn I didn't realize this has changed now it's 5 per Castel and I wondering how it works cause yesterday I did the UT and then got all the units and then I made a new castle and turns out I can make another 5 again

Hello Spirit, Great Video as usual. I'm a big fan of your videos. I'd love more game play videos, as well as the overviews of new civs on your channel. Keep up the great work.
New strat: 4v4, entire team goes Cumans, researches mercenaries as soon as they get to Imperial age, and then train 40 Elite Kipchaks each for free.
Saracen archers/cav archers have +3 attack against buildings in Dark Age?
It was +3 for all ages, then it got nerfed to +1 each age starting feudal.
what if you play the x256 gamemode? Can you make 2560 free kipchak?
Hey, can I have some help please?
Does anybody know why in some PCs the group numbers don't appear? The numbers when you CTRL 1 - 9 some units or buildings. When I'm playing Age DE, the small number doesn't appear. If you see, for example, The Viper's videos, the numbers don't appear either. Any idea why? If I put the mod HUGE NUMBERS, no difference.
The Hungarian king: Ladislaus the Cuman (Hungarian: IV. (Kun) László, have some interesting history with them, so the extra civ bonus for magyars is a nice historical reference/"coincidence" :) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ladislaus_IV_of_Hungary
You forget to mention Hun, Korean and Portuguese bonuses that free Kipchaks are cheaper :D
Huns: free Kipchak cost only 80%, so it is still free.
Korea: free Kipchak wood cost is 15% lower.
Portugal: free Kipchak gold cost is 15% lower.
0*0.8=0
I appologize for inapropriate joke (no i do not :D)
Cumans : *have stronk cavalry with bonuses and kiptchak mercenaries* .
Lithuanian : *have Leitis + 5 relics + handcanons supported by monks* .
[Sabaton-Winged Hussars plays]
Cumans : *oh noooo...*
10 elite Cuman Kipchaks had been summoned by their khan
Khan: My finnest warriors, you will be sent to fight for our aztec allied.
I'll pay the tickets, and the locals will provide equipments you need.
Kipchaks: How strong is their cavalry archer technology, my lord?
Also the Khan: HMM... I'm sure you will handle well without bloodline, parthian tactic and husbandry.
It looks kinda terrible when the arrows fly from the horsearcher before the shooting animation.
it does. noticed how insanely fast the two-handed swordsman attacks but the champion attacks so clean? They need to improve on some of the units animations but i doubt they will.
Yeah, looks awful.
It's cause the animation is fixed but they have attack speed upgrades
What if you have an opponent set to ally but they have you set to enemy, do they get the units?
Asking the real question here
It's what you have them set to.
Both need ti be allied
Hey you, what are you doing here? It's NAC3, go check it out on Nili's Twitch channel!
The best AoE players face off in Nili's apartment live, can't miss that!
And then afterwards come check out Spirit's video :)
they should atleast make it 25-30 and paid, common 10 makes no sense for imperial age
SOTL, I was thinking about a civ bonus for the Huns; I wish there was a looting mechanic where you would get gold or food or wood for destroying buildings, maybe just from Tarkins.
Regardless of the upgrades, in a 4v4 suddenly getting 40 more military pop then your opponents in early imp can end a game
All team members of team pick cumans..40+40+40+40 equals 160 kipchaks boom win
It would be fun if Kipchaks transferred 2-3 gold from their owners to Cuman player. If the player doesn't have gold the unit is disbanded.
4x Cumen players, everybody gets 40 free Kipceks, yeet 160 horseybois into the next push.
4v4 Full Cumans team with 160 Elite Kipchaks.
I hope it's not op...
Sigismund and his army of Cumans raided Skalitz, and thus I shall slay every one I come across! Jesus Christ be praised.
Is it profitable to attack a castle with Keshiks? Example attack a castle with 30 Keshiks how much gold does it generates before it goes down?
4 v 4 with a team being all cumans, a ready made kipchak army combine them all for 160 of them possible.
It just bugs me that the arrows are fired before the kipchak animation happens
It should have been their team bonus and the tech had to be the +2hp to pallisade walls. (Or some other number that gets them as strong as stonewalls.) I mean it just like the genitour for Berbers and their allies and the Italians for condottiero. That would have made these units more valuable. Especially after the nerf.
Imagine if they would add another ( bronze ) unique technology to feudal age that would be researchebal in TC example: 100wood 50gold - cuman cavalry moves 5% faster and more
Nah it should be 300wood and 500food
300food 150wood would suit better probably
@@stefanandrejcik571 maybe 300f and 250wood
@@ggmr399 or so bonus would be great in castle age when you would be 5%more faster than enemy and 15% more if they wouldn't even research husbandry and in imperial 20%more it would make cumans goood again
@@stefanandrejcik571 5% should be then for everyone
It's called mercenaries because you should demand a tribute from your allies to help you pay for it. Could be a good way for a pocket player to extort their neighbors to weaken the enemy before betraying them.
Turk, Tatar, Cumans and Mongols would form a pretty good team
They all are steppe people so yeah
Well, i dont want to be the one who claims every historical tribe as his race; but Tatars and Cumans were turkic so it would even make more sense xD.
@@erenekiz4407 yeah I guess that's why they synergize so well with each other xD
So if you had 10 Cuman players in a 4v4... you can get 120 free cav archers?
Imagine if instead of being free and only recruiting 10 of them, allies pay the regular cost but half of that goes the Cumans player and they can recruit as many as they want.
I don't think the extra arrows are subject to one of ballistics/thumb ring, since they seem to be less accurate. Not at my computer to test though.
Oh hi. Will you update the civ quiz on facebook?
wait that means you can potentially give and get 40 nearly free, elite kipchaks to all your allies and yourself, if the whole team goes cumans.
You showed us the camel bonus damage on kipchak. Is it the same for Indian imperial camels ?
COOOOMMM
For 1v1 it would be great if the created Kipchaks didn't take a population space
What is the Bluesy music you were using in the background sound of your video?
Damn I didn't realize this has changed now it's 5 per Castel and I wondering how it works cause yesterday I did the UT and then got all the units and then I made a new castle and turns out I can make another 5 again
If you make a team of all Cuman players do you get more Mercenaries? Like a team of 3 would get 30?
See, you gotta get your allies to pay tribute to you before you let them have their Kipchaks. The mercenary mechanic is you extorting them for the help in a team game. lol
Would be more funny if ally pays for 1 gold unit and Cuman player get 1 for free each time. =)
That units animation & projectile spawn is horribly synced. Calling it anything near as sync is a direct lie.
These are the same rascals who razed Skalitz to the ground! Jesus Christ be praised!
Cooler ideas: Allies PAY the Cuman player for the units.
How does this tech work if you have multiple cuman allies that research it at the same time, does the free build limit just increase?
you pay for the mercenaries, because your allies should give you the ressources and you send them troops, so they pay for the archers
Seems weird that this isn't a team bonus like the Italians.
So... does those extra arrows stack with Mayan’s obsidian arrows?
it'd be funny to use it in a diplo game, on which you are allied with everyone
it like the kipchak but isnt that good that you only can create 10 they should be a team bonus/research needed team bonus
