Someone said once that a black persons journey to veganism is through a place of healing and it’s so true! I went vegan 5 years ago and each black person I’ve encountered along the way has a similar story. ♥️
Honestly not trying to be rude but why can't you just say each person you've spoken with, why is noting that they're black important? Vegans are vegans.
Megan G Honey, because the people I spoke to were BLACK, this is a video featuring a BLACK VEGAN. As I stated, me being a Black vegan & speaking Black people, our journeys to this lifestyle came from similar issues. Black, it’s not a curse word, our existence is not offensive. You should work to figure out why my comment bothered you. In the future when you speak about Black people make sure you capitalize the B in black otherwise it’s just a color and not a proper noun.
@@markymarksthirdnipple8305 Thank you for this response!! I would also like to add in most Black communities, our access to healthy food and fresh produce is very limited due to lack of access. Often times our communities are food deserts, people have to travel far to find a grocery store that has quality products, and on top of that factor in cost. when we speak about our experiences it isn't in a way to exclude others but a way to highlight how oppression has ingrained itself into every fabric of our lives, veganism to us is a form of liberation, a protest that involves health.
I'm slowly transitioning to a plant based diet after watching What The Health. TheChicNatural and Tabitha Brown inspire me. Would love to see more stories featuring minorities.

I become a vegetarian for the same reason. My mom's side of family they have high blood pressure and diabetes and my dad's side of the family they have heart disease problem and high blood pressure. When I told them I want to become vegetarian they kind off laughed at me, that you can't survive without meat. It's almost been a year now and I lost a lot of weight and i feel better. Hopefully in the future I can become a vegan.
Take it slow and do it at a pace that seems okay for you. It can be overnight for some and others it can take over a year. You are probably not the sole provider for food right now. Really enjoyed your vegan story, especially because you had to transition over time to make it work, and that the reason you started to go vegan was compassion. It's still not easy, even this week dealing with others who just think it's being picky, but still going strong because it's for the animals. I totally understood when you said you couldn't even think of eating animals now, good on you. You're a great example for us all!
Okay, but his skin is beautiful. Also, as a side note, I finally committed to veganism for about 2 months of quarantine. I woke up before my alarms, my skin was glowing, my eczema started to clear up; it was amazing. This past week, I went back to eating as I always have (animal-based diet). I am back to waking up sluggish with the assistance of at least 3 alarms, my eczema has flared, and my energy has declined. A vegan lifestyle is really no joke. I am currently enjoying buffalo chicken pizza, but I will be returning to my vegan ways tomorrow. Please give it an honest try if you are curious. It helps to go to vegan restaurants, as they have already established ways to deliciously cook foods that may initially be foreign and new to you. So much more I can say, but just remember that changing your lifestyle is a process. Enjoy every aspect of the ride!
Well said and very inspirational I've been on a 90% plant based diet since the end of January and lost 50lbs and still continuing my health journey... the only things I had that's not considered vegan is honey, shrimp and farm fresh eggs.... so I'm assuming that's pescatarian correct??
Great video, Brandon! I've ben vegan 8.5 years now and I think it's great if you do it RIGHT (whole foods, wide variety, smart supplements). And animals are obviously spared the suffering, which is the most important thing!
I live in Dublin and there's loads of great vegan food places around if you check on deliveroo and a lot of the supermarkets like Tesco and Aldi have pretty big vegan food sections
3 years ago I visited Ireland (north and south) for vacation and truly loved the vegetable options at the supermarkets. So many greens! We eat simply on vacation, so that it is relatively fast and also healthy. Just steaming greens and vegetables, cooking potatoes and some lentils on the side. Worked well in Ireland!
Just a suggestion for the editor: Please do not put clips of dead/dying animals and slaughterhouse footage. If you really feel the need to put these images in these videos then please put a content/trigger warning. Clip at 1:37 for anyone who doesn't want to see this. This is coming from a vegan.
If we are here, we already know that's going on. The baby pig image will haunt me I guarantee it. And I am already vegan. Are they trying to scare or educate people into becoming vegan?
@@foxwithsocks47 I agree, the truth can be very motivational. Most people have no idea where meat that they buy nicely packaged in the supermarket comes from.
I tried to be vegan for 1 month, but I live with my mom and she isn't vegan and don't want to be vegan. So I gave up because my mom pays for the groceries and it was to expensive for her to buy all the vegan stuff. I'm also a difficult eater so it's very hard. I'm studying so after I'm done and live on my own. I'm going to try it again. Because it was very helpful for my stomach either😊
I’m not vegan or vegetarian but I do try to eat a lot of veggies and fruits because they are awesome! I haven’t tried any plant based alternatives that I like, but I am open to trying more.
Collard greens are very health promoting, as long as they aren't made with animal products or excess oils. Season them with nutritional yeast, and miso paste or soy sauce. Cook them into a vegan stew.
Find a couple recipes that excite you each week and buy the ingredients and give them a shot. If you like them, you can make it again and it gets easier every time, especially since you'll have leftovers of some of the inngredients. Some channels to check out are the buddhist chef (his tofu w peanut sauce i make for my meat eating family and they love it), pick up limes, the happy pear, simnett nutrition, caitlin shoemaker, feasting on fruit, hot for food, vegan richa, bosh.tv, and so many more. Also Use the website happycow.net (they also have a $1 app) to see what places near you you can order out from. And most helpful for me has been a local vegan facebook group. Search for one, that'll be so helpful for you if there is one.
Keep being great!! I love it- thank you for speaking out! Keep promoting this and all the love and light. I had to subscribe, because I need more vegan people around me. I know no other vegans!! Thank you for being you :)
I’m thinking about trying the vegan life style. Diabetes runs on both sides of the family so I got a really be careful on how I eat. I’m not gonna lie it’s gonna be hard for me because I like some meat but I don’t eat a lot of meat all the time and I grew up eating meat. I might go and try the vegan lifestyle because of my health. Inspiring video! Thumbs up 👍🏾👍🏾
I am not a vegan, a simple vegetarian but I do aspire to be a vegan when I can. I went vegetarian because meat just always made me feel so sluggish and nauseous and I was sick of that. It would give me headaches too. I stopped eating meat and I am so happy because I do not have any of that anymore. I mean yes sometimes I still get nauseous but that's it.
Probably lactose intolerance. Over 65% of the world's population is lactose intolerant. This percentage is likely higher as everyone is a degree of lactose intolerance. After weening only a small portion of people keep producing the enzyme to break down lactose. Mammals are designed to eventually be weened. This has been scientifically proven in many different scientific journals.
The thing is, most people get defensive no matter how you approach it. Most of the time it has nothing to do with you, but everything to do with their own guilt. That's why so many people seem to hate vegans for no reason.
I’m 15 and I wanna go on a whole foods plant based diet to live a healthier life in the longterm. Watched a documentary but my family loves meat and we have a full freezer of pork and beef etc
If you were to ask me years ago if I would go vegan, I would have laughed in your face. In reality, it took me trying out being vegan for a while, realizing I liked it, and then making the change for good. I have been a lot healthier ever since.
I guess finding vegan options is easier in the US, I live in Mexico and the few alternatives there are happen to be super expensive, and living in the north of Mexico, beef is like a tradition; I only eat beef once a week.... but.... I haven't been able to quit it
Please take B12 supplements, if you value your health , people don’t have heart attacks from meat , it’s the sugar, vegetable oils like soy and canola . And heavy processed foods .If you are influencing so many people please read the book by Lierre Keith . Please I’m not criticising , but from a health perspective and if you want to save the planet please read Lierre Keith’s book with open mind x
Earthling Ed on UA-cam is amazing. So well spoken and knowledgeable. His talk on "Every Argument Against Veganism" is a great one to watch. "Earthlings" on UA-cam is fabulous for the animals, "What the Health" and "The Game Changers" is great for health reasons.
Honestly the one that helped me in the very beginning was Super Size Me. It’s not a vegan documentary, but it made me seriously rethink what I put in my body.
Personally because I don't believe the whole "Animals and Humans should be treated as equals" thing but I do believe factory farming is cruel and destructive I stick to the model of eating less meat and buying only responsibly farmed products (partially because of the more expensive price, partially because the American diet is way to meat heavy). Because personally I see the only real way to change the meat industry is with money.

Next time you’re in Vegas I can tell you my Fav 2 vegan spots!! Like OMG🤤🤤🤤 even though I prefer to cook at home.
I was vegetarian for 8 years and cheese was my hang up! Overcame that and completely happy and proud to be Vegan!
Have you tried Trader Joe’s protein burgers?! Mmmmmm only ones I eat!
What you're describing is plant based, not vegan
Great info for transitioning vegans, thank you 😁🌱
Well said and very inspirational I've been on a 90% plant based diet since the end of January and lost 50lbs and still continuing my health journey... the only things I had that's not considered vegan is honey, shrimp and farm fresh eggs.... so I'm assuming that's pescatarian correct??
I had plant based chicken and it's good... As a black person, people looked at you when you differently when you don't eat animals
Heyyy. I'm plant based from the east side of Buffalo too ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
ayeee
Ayyee I am from buffalo NY too :) it's actually really hard to find affordable vegan options here.
Great video, Brandon! I've ben vegan 8.5 years now and I think it's great if you do it RIGHT (whole foods, wide variety, smart supplements). And animals are obviously spared the suffering, which is the most important thing!
Man I wished I lived in la theres hardly any vegetarian/ vegan alternatives and food places in Dublin
I live in Dublin and there's loads of great vegan food places around if you check on deliveroo and a lot of the supermarkets like Tesco and Aldi have pretty big vegan food sections
so many vegan/vegetarian options in Ireland! if you ever find yourself in the north check out leafy greens in Warrenpoint co down, it’s soooo yummy
you can try being a pescatarian in the meanwhile.
It is indeed disturbing but that is the point. A good reminder of why we don't want to support animal cruelty.
If we are here, we already know that's going on. The baby pig image will haunt me I guarantee it. And I am already vegan. Are they trying to scare or educate people into becoming vegan?
I think that people need to see this though.
@@foxwithsocks47 I agree, the truth can be very motivational. Most people have no idea where meat that they buy nicely packaged in the supermarket comes from.
Joe Z yeah, completely agree.
Can you help me? Do you have any starter points for me? I've been desperately trying and I'm stuck on salad island 🤷🏾♂️
Beans and rice!
Search for vegan people on instagram. Tons of inspiration and recipes. Or on pinterest.
challenge22.com Vegan challenge. They have mentors and a recipe data base specifically for beginners. Good luck
Chicnatural channel has amazing meal plans
"What does the fox say" XD
Thank you for sharing your story. Blessed be.
Thumbs up 👍🏾👍🏾
New vegetarian...with goals of transitioning to being a cheerful vegan :) Also, new subbie!
I’m a flexitarian‼️ So I’m mostly plant based, but I’ll eat fish/meat occasionally at a restaurant 😀🍽
Virginia Zapletal Exactly!
His UA-cam channel is Brandon Brown if anyone is interested.
Relatable dude and very well spoken
I like that he's open about the fact that the path to veganism can take time. It's a huge shift but worthy for many reasons.
I’m glad he mentioned how vegan meet is processed. 👍💯
Thank you. What i found hard is telling family that i dont wanna eat meat cuz i never want themto thibk im judging them
The thing is, most people get defensive no matter how you approach it. Most of the time it has nothing to do with you, but everything to do with their own guilt. That's why so many people seem to hate vegans for no reason.
Thanks for sharing! I am happy your mom feels healthier!
I’m 15 and I wanna go on a whole foods plant based diet to live a healthier life in the longterm. Watched a documentary but my family loves meat and we have a full freezer of pork and beef etc
Thank you for your story:).
On behalf of 🦆🦀🐄🦞🐟🐑🐖🐓🐇 Thankyou for being Vegan 🙏 ✌️
If anyone is looking for dope plant-based recipes, I GOT YALL. I've been a plant-based athlete now for 5 years. This lifestyle os amazing
Does Brandon have a UA-cam channel?
yes I do!
If you were to ask me years ago if I would go vegan, I would have laughed in your face. In reality, it took me trying out being vegan for a while, realizing I liked it, and then making the change for good. I have been a lot healthier ever since.
I guess finding vegan options is easier in the US, I live in Mexico and the few alternatives there are happen to be super expensive, and living in the north of Mexico, beef is like a tradition; I only eat beef once a week.... but.... I haven't been able to quit it
Such a positive guy!
Brandon looks like someone I went to highs school with, and I'm South African.
He’s from my hometown!
Well said, Brandon! Also, you’re a magnificent artist.💕
thank you queeen
Thank you 💖 so very much indeed for this 📹 video! 🥰 🥰 🥰 🤖 ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Angela Davis, African American professor, activist, writer, and genius inspired me to go vegan 30 years ago.
Where can I get that T Shirt?
Documentary to watch?? To become vegan.
Cowspiracy(environment), What the health, Forks over Knives, Game Changers (Health), Earthlings, Dominion (Animals) Good luck :)
Earthlings is great! I watched it in whole and it really helps me understand things. Wish you the best!
Earthlings, Cowspiracy, and The Game Changers
Honestly the one that helped me in the very beginning was Super Size Me. It’s not a vegan documentary, but it made me seriously rethink what I put in my body.
love the energy
This deserves more attention
love your story! love seeing people from buffalo :D
You inspire us. Great work.
I didn’t know you couldn’t have honey 😩
I’m a newbie and I need all the help I can get
In my opinion don't stop eating honey just cause someone says you can't, do your own research on it and come to your own conclusion :)
Abel Abel wow, thank you for sharing. Very insightful
Hi! I'm vegan and I also oil paint! Love the video!
That's very commendable. You're an inspiration!
Thank you ao mych for sharing your story Brandon its very helpful for me as I'm a new vegan
is there gluten free vegan diets aslo
Yeah, for sure. Veggiekins definitely is. There are definitely others, I can't think off the top of my head.
Yes!
Let's change the world 🌱
Much respect, Brandon.
His story sounds so much like mine ❤🙏🏾
ayeeewe the same
I want the shirttttttt!!! I love being vegan and you can make what ever vegan fried chicken , vegan ribs etc c I love it
Very inspiring!
We like you Brandon. Start your own channel.
