That’s not a banana. It’s a ripped plantain. It’s all over tropical/subtropical climates like, Africa, the Caribbean, Hawaii, many other parts of the American continent and all around the world. The flavor is sweet. In Puerto Rico we use it for Amarillos (fried ripped plantain, bifongo (a mofongo that contains sweet plantain) and many others applications.
I love plantains, but they’re hard to find where I live
You’re right, but I have seen bananas that size here in Brazil

@@themis1444 That it is 😂
Well yes, but actually no
Naziur oh my gawd I just saw this comment right after he said that exact line!
It was used in the interview but it’s a common saying in places with tourism and mild language barriers. I believe the origin is Asia, it’s become something of a trope.
A humble and honest dude, just doing what he loves. He ain't bothering nobody, he's just making his pizzas.

You can't call everything which is circular and contains flour a pizza. Pizza is wheat flour dough + mozzarella and tomato sauce, while this Zanzibar thing is a damn chapati, a completely different dough, with whatever on top. Don't get me wrong, that looks extremely good, but it's not a damn pizza.

To be fair, this is more of a variation of the Paratha from India. He even used Chapati, which is basically a Paratha without any fillings.
I call it a variation because his method seemed a little different than traditional Parathas as the dough seemed more watery. In any case, the Zanzibar pizza looked downright tempting!
*The difference is, Zanzibar's chapati is clean, Indias's dirty. Filthy.*

Indian and Zanzibari cuisine are so similar like chapati, masala, biryani, etc. Feels good to see people who share culture with us🤗🤗

Zanzibar pizza is common here in Tanzania. There are more videos of it online in case you want to try this recipe.. and I bet you will really be thankful you did.
Got to try this in the summer of 2018. Couldn’t stop till I got to 3. If you’re ever in Zanzibar, make sure to try all the dishes at the night market and go visit stone town. You can hire a local fisherman to take you out to sea and fish for unicorn leatherback fish which are banned for catching or consumption in the U.S. Beautiful place with a lively culture and people. I even got to smoke some bangi (weed in Swahili) with some Rastafarians.
