OnX is a game changer for sure! spot on quality fellas, cant wait to get after some birds next week! Really enjoying the turkey series
I prefer HuntStand doesn’t get enough love. That’s a great app too.
Great info guys.. that transition line from hardwoods and pines to the swamp or creek bottoms is where I always start on public land! Thanks for sharing
Great information guys!! Definitely giving OnX a try. So important to scout with maps then put boots on the ground. I do the same thing during deer season.
Yes sir a little research and planning makes for a better day
Look forward to catching up with you guys on the next video
Great content Aaron and Zack! Enjoying those Turkey hunting vidoes...keep. them coming guys!!!!
Great video. I like all the info you share with us. I have used OnX for a few years and I like doing a track of where I have been and mark way points along the way. It helps to identify where you have been when you get a ridge or two away.
First. Love the turkey videos. Just got out first day of Iowa youth season. Boy it was a cold one. Not one gobble. Keep up the good work.
This is exactly what I was looking for. Been messing around with OnX for a few weeks and working on my first public land hunt/first turkey hunt and this was great info. Didn't give away any spots but managed to give some great tips!
Great video guys. Great educational video. You guys are helping lots of people put more birds on the ground!!! Keep it up!!!
I'm not only a member, but the president of spending too much time where there are no Turkey.... lol. Thanks for the video. I'm still scratching my head. Just got back from Virginia, starting to hunt again. Good luck gentleman.
Love OnX. Moved from hunting private land in Pennsylvania to public land in Kansas and wouldn't have been successful without OnX....and of course your videos. Thanks for sharing your insights on how to tackle public lands.
Awesome information, thank you! Congrats on 20K Subscribers!
And look at it now, 344k subscribers lol that’s so awesome
Thanks for the video, keep them coming. Only negative I have is it would be nice to see a pointer overlay to go with marked up maps you have.
Here in the Lowcountry listening points are a downed log. Not much elevation changes here.
It also helps a lot when you have locals guide you right to the prime
Areas..great advice!enjoyed the video..
I was learning so much. I hope yall do an episode where you two just talk mapping whitetails and turkeys.
You guys should come hunt fort Campbell KY, so many diverse areas that it’s a great learning curve jumping from fields, to hardwoods to rolling hills and swamps.
OnXmaps is great and thanks for the tips. Good Luck in Oklahoma.
Thanks!
Very good info. Thanks.
Would you suggest setting up on a ridge top above a creek and having them up hill towards you?
You all need to hunt Green River wma in Adair County Kentucky. I've killed some longbeards on there. There's plenty of turkeys there. I could point u out to a good spot to start at. It's an amazing public land to hunt.
Hey can you do one of california( san Diego Cleveland NF)? Its hard with all the private land there?
You guys Rock!
Do a video on your guns please!!
Took your advice and found an area on a KY wma while scouting this morning for next week's opener: run off stream, hardwoods from the ridge to part way down the slope,, cedars, and cleared area. The gobblers were busting it this morning. Now, my question is this. Where should I set up in this situation---Up toward the ridge or down in the valley? It's about 200-250 yards from ridge to the stream. Love the shows, men.
Ed McKinney That’s a good question. Try to get above or on the same level as the birds and within 150 yards. They’ll use all of that habitat at one time or another so it’s hard to say which one will work
How often are the onx maps updated is it close to live or yearly like google earth
Great video, can we get more of this kind of content?
Isak Hayles what specifically are you looking for?
Maybe more map scouting of the places you are hunting and what drew you to that spot.
you mentioned you lived in NW Ohio, but there were no turkeys.. I live in Toledo and am looking for good public land opportunities in NW Ohio... any suggestions??
Good instructional video - one needs to practice with it and get some boots on the ground. I suggest going to some local state or private land that you are familiar with and practice. I always carry a compass with me and a whistle, just in case. #Kromer.
I have and use on x maps myself. I sure think it would be a huge benefit if they used winter time imagery. Great app but leaf-off imagery let's you see so much more.
Great feedback! We will pass that along. Thanks!
Adding a false color ir map would be a great addition as it allows you to see areas of thicker ground cover and soft transitions like in caltopo
Been using onx for about 2 years and couldn't imagine hunting without it. I will say you can sometimes find better imagery (more recent) in Google maps/earth, Bing, but the rest of the app is invaluable. I've even used it to map out deer drives and visually direct everyone before the drive. Super helpful.
I've often wondered who at onx has access to all of our info.....sure would be nice!:)
#rollinintheLTE
Use google earth to look at older satellite photos, it’s a great tool
Do you guys make a living hunting or in the outdoor industry? I got to thinking about your trips. Your 6 day trips is normal to a total of my season. Give or take a couple days either way. 3 or 4 weekends.
Yes we do some business in the outdoor industry but not exclusively. Some of our work comes through consulting and other media production jobs for different industries.
The Hunting Public Awesome, i appreciate you guys always replying. I honestly believe that what you guys are doing is the future of the industry and will help the next generation of hunters.
John Hayes thanks! We hope so. That’s a big reason why we are doing this.
what part of southern ohio was you talking about i live there and thay looked like a public place i hunt ?
Haha can't give away too much! That is "home" as much if not more than Iowa is for at least one of us!
I know the exact piece of public that is as I have bowhunted hunted it before and turkey hunted it. The hqtch qqs hreat last year and lots pf birds on the area.
Onx is the way to go, no doubt. Great explanation on how to use it. Very valuable tool, worth the money!!
Zach, be sure to tell everyone there is no Turkeys in Se Ohio. Your hitting close to my stomping grounds....LOL
haha it doesn't have as many as a lot of states! It is stomping grounds to us as well. Luckily there is plenty of public land to go around. Southern Ohio is great for access to hunt/fish.
We are very fortunate to have the public land we have.
Good hunting guys, looking forward to move videos.
Great tips. I use maps all the time. I killed a turkey this morning. A map helped.
Burke Jones awesome! congrats!
Just rolled into OK!!!
Looks alot like highlandtown lake lol
I bought a lithium battery just to make sure my phone doesn't die in the woods so I always have OnX. Super clutch.
Hey guys I love your videos! You have inspired me to hunt turkeys. Im in Nebraska and went turkey hunting for the first time in Nebraska on public land yesterday. All i was able to do is find a footprint of a turkey. Where would you recommend to hunt in Nebraska? Maybe we could do a video Colab. Im a prior Marine Veteran and maybe we could combine our skills. I live in Lincoln Nebraska. Maybe you could use me on how to hunt turkeys from a never done it point of view.
Finding tracks are a good sign! There is likely more than one turkey in that area. It'd be a good idea to get to high spot close by and listen. Try to get there just before daylight and listen on a calm day. You might be able to hear a gobbler then move in closer and setup.
hey zack where in n.w.ohio did you live?im in swanton ohio and past years we didnt have game birds because of farmers using a certain type of fertilizer but game commission and dnr put a stop to it and the past ten years have had the birds reproduceing great birds all over in n.w. ohio now!!!get ahold of me i would love to have yall in n.w. ohio
Hey Joe I live in Toledo and I'm looking for some good land to hunt turkey! Can you help out a fellow NW Ohioan and point me in a direction? As you know turkey season starts Monday!
Not gonna lie to Zach shit the bed big time a few times this season.
I had a guy try to run my cousin and I off public land claiming that it was private until I busted out my onx map then he shut up and left us alone.
What states game lands did you guys hunt for the PA hunt
