I sent my BMW engine for a rebuild to a shop in the US. After I got it back, it was leaking oil, my tech tore it down and found the missing bolt. Then the machining of the valve guides were messed up that it was dripping oil from the air intake. I should have sent it to these people in Afghanistan.

They probably ‘rebuilt’ this exact engine before. As a retired mechanic, these ‘experts’ aren’t doing a good job. Reminds me of the engines Danger Zone sells.
Masters would be using proper gaskets and making sure the run out of parts are true and not put of trying. One guy just eye balled the pushrods like looking down a pool cue..lol

of course because it cost a lot. In Russia my engine of mitsubishi spoiled and i paied 2 000 $!!! to rebuild it ( no good specialist and no box to repair in me) So t is cheaper to purchase a new one
They didn't defeat anyone, the USSR and the USA could completely annihilate Afghanistan if they wanted to. These superpowers got tired of trying to change these people. Once it became clear that these people are not changeable and Afghanistan is a money pit - both USSR and USA withdrew.
I'm working on a 3 small cylinder diesel, it's taken me a year ! these guys seem to do it in a few days in flip flops in a lorry park !! They motivate me.

@@rongpimoran There's a spacer gauge used at some points in the video. The parts were cleaned so well and they use a torque wrench, too, so it sure looks like they have some idea about everything you mentioned.
@@rongpimoran untrue. they very much have a certain degree of knowledge about all those factors. i lived in a different third world country with similar types of shops. the senior mechanics know their stuff. usually worked at a big automotive company or abroad then come back to their hometowns because of certain circumstances, bringing back knowledge with them. they are usually not very articulate but they are very knowledgable about their work

I'll guess this engine is 30+ yrs old. From a time when repairs could be made with basic mech sockets and wrenches. Today, you need to remove the whole front end to change the oil filter haha. Great job men!

In the mid-1970s I was working in Turkey. I bought a 66 Mercedes 230S from another expat worker (Customs laws allowed expat cars in tax free but couldn't be sold locally). Paid $550 but I knew it had a main bearing ticking. My mechanic said it depended on which direction the bearing was cracked. If vertical, it could last many years. If horizontal, though, it could do major damage when it actually broke. Decided to rebuild the engine. Of course, the crack was vertical. I bought all the rebuild parts in the U.S. as much cheaper then in Europe. The guy who did the rebuild was about 17 years old and had about 4-5 helpers between 10-13. No power tools were used, or needed. The labor cost about $200. Engine ran like a Swiss watch. Drove it to Iran, all over Turkey, and eventually to the U.K. Sold it in 1984 for about $1,500 in the U.K.
Great craftsmanship considering lack of available resources. They definitely need to use PPE. Otherwise, longterm exposure to these harsh chemicals will lead to chronic diseases. May The Almighty protect them.

not surprised I used to rebuild VW bug engines with handmade pliers, sandpaper, and a toolset probably from the Soviet era. Despite that, the engines would run for another 50k km after a one-day job. It wasn't bad at all. This man knows how the engine works, and he likely learned it through practice, much like I did, working from the ground up, if in US he would probably charge 3000 usd for this job + parts.

Not using a torque wrench to bolt the headers on and still do it within spec is a cool trick. If it wasn't within spec the casket would start leaking and the owner would be back and that,s going to cost them a lot of money and hours. So he must be doing it right.
That’s what I love about other countries, everyone comes together to help and learn. Shops here in USA. There’s is usually one or two guys that knows it all and the rest of everyone else our peasants. No teamwork or help. Just competition to be better than the next person 😢🎉

Что с форсунками ? Антифриз.....
These guys really know what they are doing. They should be wearing protective gloves to protect themselves from repeated exposure to heavy metals from the oil such as cadmium.

Not using a torque wrench to bolt the headers on and still do it within spec is a cool trick. If it wasn't within spec the casket would start leaking and the owner would be back and that,s going to cost them a lot of money and hours. So he must be doing it right.

That’s what I love about other countries, everyone comes together to help and learn. Shops here in USA. There’s is usually one or two guys that knows it all and the rest of everyone else our peasants. No teamwork or help. Just competition to be better than the next person 😢🎉

что тут прям такого восхитительного ? Динамометрическим ключом крутят - уже хорошо., но дёргать его нельзя, только внатяг. Кольца воткнуты на шару, поршня не взвешены, какой у них ремонт, кто знает ? Плоскость ВМТ пальцами меряет. Масляный насос - что с ним ? Головки поставили - протянули. Надо коллекторы прикрутить и протянуть , потом головы протягивать. ТНВД кто нибудь смотрел ? Что с форсунками ? Антифриз.....
These guys really know what they are doing. They should be wearing protective gloves to protect themselves from repeated exposure to heavy metals from the oil such as cadmium.
