Excellent video, my IT Infrastructure PMO is getting into Smartsheet, I used it in my last position for another company and this has already helped me start build ing a project plan for m next project. I will share this with my colleagues to have a look. Thank you for this
First tutorial what I have found usefull. Form start to end. Milion others are just crap. Starting with "upload your project from the file" one second later in smart sheet 100 of colums totally mess, with data and tutorial starts... Seeing this a start to call this app "Stupidsheet" Thank you for clear easy going tutorial.
Thank you so much, this explaination is simply great to refer and use. Please can you suggest on how to get a dashboard of this Project to have a overall graphical view ? thanks.
its really a great tutorial, thank you, if i had team members that are working in different time zone and had different holiday dates how can i modify it for each team member
Thanks Mariam. Glad it was helpful! If each user has their country (and time zone) selected in their account settings, it should show up for them accordingly help.smartsheet.com/articles/2482412-how-smartsheet-handles-time-zones#:~:text=When%20you%20set%20up%20your,Settings%20%3E%20Settings%3E%20Time%20Zone.
I'd just like to say thanks for sharing this content - I've found it very useful. I have a question. Atm, under my tasks column, I have a project plan, which is then broken down into the different departments (which then have sub projects). For example, Under 'legal', I'll have 5 sub tasks. When the 5 sub-tasks are completed, they change to blue, but the 'parent' task title (legal), stays green. Is there a way to change this to blue? I hope that makes sense.
@@ProperProjectManagement - Hi - appreciate your swift response. Yes, I'm using the indenting functionality. I've had a look at some sources online, and I think the issue may lie with the formula in the RAG status column. I'll try a few to see if I can get the desired result. Thanks again :).
Very helful, thank you. If I am working on many projects at a time does each need each own sheet? How do I copy one to the next and look at one vs the other?
I would recommend a project plan per project. Though you could set it up in a way where one sheet contained multiple project plans with parent/child collapsing.
If you set up the dependencies for all subtasks, and you set the duration for all subtasks, and you enter the finish date for the first task, will the sheet then update the start and end dates for all interdependent subtasks?
Hi, I have tasks in my project plan that cannot be moved out such as set releases dates, if other tasks are completed without dependencies but then some tasks are dependent on some of the tasks (within reason of planned delays) of planning. If you use dependencies can you also not use them for some tasks or would that mess the end of project date? Hope that makes sense
This tutorial is very helpful. From a real life scenario, how would you track a task in Smartsheet which is exceeding the planned finish date? Do you use a "Variance" column for that?
Hello Samrat. Thanks for the feedback and I am pleased you found value in this video. Yes that is one option (with a planned nd date - planned start data formula). Alternatively, you could use conditional formatting to highlight any date in the past in red.
Hello Marcel, essentially whenever you want to set up a parent/child relationsip - in other words tasks/subtask. Or could even be milestones/tasks, or phase/task
Hi Miguel. I believe so but you require a data uploader add-on - this community post explains more: community.smartsheet.com/discussion/72043/drop-down-list-from-another-sheet
Hi, what I'm working with people such as developers who are based in different countries and have different working days. For example, UK and US will work Monday-Friday but people in Jordan would work Sun-Thurs. Is there a way in smart sheet that I can account for these when working with the duration?
It would require a formula. I'd suggest googling "smartsheet working hours duration formula" and browse the community forums. That would be a good place to start.
At the start of the tutorial you rename the Primary Column to Status and use symbols. This is not possible any more from what I can see as the primary column can only be numbers or text. Can you clear this up?
Hello Jamie. While I had the primary column selected, I actually 'inserted a new column' to the left of it, then selected symbols and called this heading "status". It's not possible to to change the primary column as such as you noted.
@@ProperProjectManagement Thanks for the reply. I did not spot this in the tutorial the 1st time around. Please keep up the great work on these videos. So easy to follow and incredibly useful. 👍

Which order should I watch your smart sheets tutorials. I’m new to construction billing through smart sheets.? Thank you
Hello Anna. Good Question. Have you checked out my playlist? I'd probably start with my Demo video first and foremost though!
Awesome training

Hey Maria. Are you leveraging the indenting functionality and setting up the parent/child relationships?

Thank you so much for this. Is this different from a high level project plan?
Can you elaborate by what you mean by high level....
If you set up the dependencies for all subtasks, and you set the duration for all subtasks, and you enter the finish date for the first task, will the sheet then update the start and end dates for all interdependent subtasks?
Nice tutorial. I think you said that you'd address how to have the status color changed based on the status of the subtasks - is that possible?
Thanks Andy. It is possible; you'd need to set up some conditional formatting rules for that.
@@ProperProjectManagement can you show us how

How do i create a smart sheet

Can tom update the status of the task with 'viewer' level access ?
I don't think you can, no. Would need 'Editor' Access.
