Awesome duel. We requested for you to release a series of videos dueling other classes and a few days later, here we are learning how to face one of the hardest matchups in the game. A lot more thought has to go into this match up. Knowing when to reset and when to go aggressively for the kill is vital.
The elements that help you decide that such as their health, mana, Cooldowns available (or not available for them) is key. This fight takes a lot of patience trying to get them to oom and creating situations to be able to eat and drink. I came out of this video with more knowledge. Thanks. I’m tuned in bro. Keep it up.

i think its easier to burst a warlock down and end duel early if you get good crits
Correct , since they are tanky asf and they have an 8 sec cd kick while being able to dispel any frost nova or poly you go for.
Lock be a ts mage without any chance.
It's not even close skill for skill.
I agree, lock is probably harder but only if they are SL and have felhunter out. If they're raid spec (like most atm) and have voidwalker out (real world pvp example) you just need to sheep and wait out their void sac, then it's a free kill if you don't miss your burst.
Priest is a fairly quick mana battle, but you still have to reset properly or you will lose to their insane damage and sustain.
I loved all the random Alliance players pausing their SM run, just to watch you duel.

Don't see how this is difficult in actual world play. Priest has no inherent way to counter polymorph. If you ever get into a fight with one in the open world, polymorph and just blink/run. You are safe, he loses a lot of time from being polymorphed. This will always work in any real pvp scenario and get you out safely. If you are dead set on killing the priest, you are basically giving him a chance to fight back and willingly give away this unique advantage. That said, great to see anboni!
Give me $1 every time he says "reset" & "eat and drink" I could buy Blizzard now

Yo Xaryu. There is one simple thing that would have won these duels earlyer. If u wanna nova->cs u gotta be sure u got ice barrier up so u can get ur cast off (dont get Wanded). If u dont have ice barrier, dont blank cs, better wait for full cs or ice barrier.
In that case it would be even better if u just cast him down until he tries to get a big cast done and u full cs him.
Plz get that as a constructive criticism, and not as a blame.

Don't throw grenade at silence at the start of duel, u are suppose to block silence when he mindblasts u (if he's good he will fakecast mindblast). Save grenade for shatter combo, and don't use nova counterspell shatter macro when he's at full hp. Priest is currently in disadvantage because he only has 4.6k mana which is extremely low for a shadow priest (he's able to outheal you if he survives your shatter combo whilst still having decent percentage of his mana left, in later phases with better gear). Also try preblinking his fear, huge gamechanger due to will of the forsaken having gcd.
We never allowed engineering in duels because if people were going to use engineering against my shadow priest, then i was going to use alchemy and drink frost resistance pots or stonescale. If you can't win against another class with just the basics of the class mechanics then you don't get credit at all. And yes i know what I'm talking about, I had a rank 14 human shadow priest in vanilla, as well as a rank 10 frost mage. Once you get to AQ 40+ levels of gear, the mages can't win because the priest DoTs and HoTs outscale your shields. The only time I ever lost to mages in duels is when they were 8/8 netherwind and got lucky with a series of procs.
Amazing duels, not taking anything away from your skill because you are amazing, but that priest needs some serious work with how to duel mages.
Wasting mana constantly on flash heals, not using PS on an undead specifically just for interrupts, opening the duels with silence when the mage is obviously going to get off the sheep (it's better to just dot and dispel unless you have a rune or skull to break that first sheep), played WAY too passive which will always end in the shadow going OOM, and it seems he didn't prioritize removing the frost nova as much as you need to.
All in all great duels, shadow priest shouldn't really lose to a mage with no CDs though.

Looks good besides using Frost ward. Considering his wand and nade were fire damage it would have been more useful to prevent wand pushback

Xary do you know about water walking? You can eat and drink just before the sever batch ends, so you can walk between each eat/drink tick
Few questions: What does Ice Ward do against priests? When you open nova + counter spell, why do you want to CS right away? What would you recommend doing if you aren't Undead and he fears you, (Im gnome so I dont have Will of the Forsaken).

Xar when you do 2v2s or 3v3 . If you silence a mage that was casting frost spell hes gonna have to wait to cast an other frost spell like iceblock.. cant you kill them rlly fast before counterspell is over so he cant get inside iceblock? Like super quick action to the silence cause he will have no imune right?

imo if you don't just imp cs at the start you can lay the pressure on to kill him, csing a flash heal, or having him not even cast a flash heal because you have cs up

How does this matchup play out when mage and warlock are r 14? Does the increased durability of the players shift it heavily in the priests favor? or the opposite?

Great stuff man! One question: why don’t you grenade him while hes nova’d? It would guarantee your shatter combo gets off so long as hes counterspelled aswell.
As for future videos, personally Id mostly like to see the shaman matchup (maybe get a mouseover wand macro for those totems? Lol) and the warlock matchup.
or just make a /target totem wand macro that way you just spam the macro.

For as much as people complain about mages, there are some ridiculously hard matchups for them out there. Priests, Warlocks and Shaman are all pretty brutal and Druids are no walk in the park (no pun intended) either.
Is there a reason you sometimes don't frostbolt/cone after you nova cs him? Is it because he's good with using his wand to interrupt the FB?

A good druid would never let u get a shatter combo and just heal to full & innervate bk up.
Since engineering is allowed, the goblin incapacitate helmet could allow for a full reset.
Could imagine it getting rough

Duel a hunter next please! I want to see what you do to beat them and as a hunter myself what I need to lookout for when fighting mages. Great videos keep it up
To beat a hunter as a mage, most of the time the mage will blink in then nova and will just shatter combo burst you in your dead zone.. what you've to do is to read his blink making it as hard as possible for him to do it and spam viper sting constantly.. When he blink if u're fast enough you just distract shot him instantly if you read it and then run away.

A great lock with good timing on ‘nades... hard to beat but resists and RNG come into play I would imagine.
I don't get why you were using frost ward instead of fire ward since he was using a fire wand (atleast fire ward will protect u from those wand knockbacks during CS)? @xaryu :)

“First of all thank you for the videos, tips, macros.
I have a question about three macros on your list here.
1. The 60 yard script gives me a warning of possible ban or gold taken away if I use it. ??
2. The Counterspell macro and Sheep macro are mouseover, but it won’t use those abilities if I already have the mob targeted unless I either mouse over the mob or the unit frame. Is there a way to add that into the macro?
3. Your wand macro untoggles wanding when I click it a second time. I thought the point of it was to not have that happen.”
