Mark is sitting down in this performance because he has multiple sclerosis and sometimes his legs don't work. He was part of the Gaither Vocal Band for decades (along with David Phelps); Buddy Greene was also with the Gaithers and he put these lyrics to the music. Mark has a few videos around. He is quite the comedian, though maybe not as PC as some would prefer in this day and age :).
He's not PC at all but he is spiritually correct. He's a Christian comedian and that's the nature of his comedy so who cares about political correctness? Or rather political incorrectness.
The blonde haired woman's name is Kate, and her high notes are crazy. Mark chose the perfect group for this rendition. It's almost like heaven listening to it.
Kate Lott, yeah - she's incredible. In this performance she goes up to a G6, and more importantly she does that beautiful and controlled and in the background. I don't know any other singer who could sing a background G6 at all, let alone as beautifully as she does. And let's be real, G6 itself is rare to begin with.
Like you and many others, I have heard countless renditions of this classic. In my humble opinion, NOT ONE tops this one!! I’ve seen this vid literally probably 100 times. I specifically search for reactions to it and have seen virtually every one. I cry more now than ever! Great reaction!
Me too! I look for it every Christmas season, hoping more reactors will discover it and appreciate it for the majestic, worshipful rendition that it is! Sung with awe and reverence makes all the difference in the world and is what (I believe) moves us and so many who see/listen to their version. Sung/interpreted by the lyricist like no other can as he knows the intent of the words as only he could.
Never have heard your reactions before. I possibly am old enough to be your grandfather and come from, what I assume, would be a very different lifestyle. I felt the Holy Spirit touching your heart and prayed for you while this beautiful song was being sung and watched as it moved within you. May the "child' that this song speaks of become, not only a part of your life but, the meaning of why you breath. I pray you seek Him.
That was a beautiful and real reaction to this inspired song. I totally agree with you that this is how this song was intended to be sung. Even Mark, in an interview after recording this said that he never thought his song could sound so beautiful. I don’t think anyone holds a candle to Mark on the delivery of the message in this song. I’ve heard many covers of it but Mark is the OG, and this is his most beautiful rendition or version of his song. The Angelic voices of Voctave set the mood from the beginning and set the scene for this song in the Heavenly Realm, where you can picture Mark just sitting down with Mary and asking her these simple yet profound questions. The song makes us think outside the Biblical narrative into the actual life of this real person and try to grasp what this meant to her, what was going thru her mind and how much of what was happening did she actually grasp. It’s an incredible song, written by and inspired man and delivered with him by Voctave. Please do more Voctave Reactions! But I warn you, “Where Are You Christmas?” will require a lot more tissues cuz not even a grown man can watch that one without tears.
YES, love and agree with your comments 100%! Mark and Voctave sing this with the reverence that many other performers lack - I'm convinced this is because they're approaching this with an awe and mind-set of worshipping this Baby Boy who has come to make things new.
Great reaction. The first time I heard this was when Mark Lowry was with The Gaither vocal band. Now to me, this version is the best. Sound like a choir of angels backing him up!!
I have the perfect bookend for this performance. Try "Oh, Holy Night", live ft. David Phelps. He is a world class tenor, and a member of the Gaither Vocal Band with Mark Lowery. This will bring a tear to your eye as well. OMG!!
This version with Mark singing and Voctave in all their wonderful harmonies catches me all the time. We all know that Mary DID know what her Son was going to do and be but i am sure it still caught her at times (like when he was in the synagogue speaking with the teachers) ❤
I cried too. I grew up going to a church with only Acapella singing. No piano. I am thrilled to hear so many beautiful voices. Love your channel and your beautiful soul. Grandma Shirley loves you ❤️
Great reaction! As much as I really enjoy the others' performances of this beautiful modern Christmas hymn, NO ONE comes close in my book to Mark and Voctave!! The awe and reverence sung as only the lyricist could makes it so special and I believe is what moves us to tears when we hear it sung to perfection (this side of Heaven). Please keep the Voctave coming! Suggestion, if you haven't already would be: The Christmas Song (which I believe they released last year) and The Nutcracker Medley, which was just released a couple of weeks ago and is their newest video. Both simply wonderful!!
The first time I heard this song was several years ago. Mark was a member of the Southern Gospel group called The Gaither Vocal Band. This gave me chills.❤
I'm already huge fan of Voctave and know a couple of the singers from the barbershop world. Have watched many reaction videos to this performance, and yours is my favorite. You just let them go and build the magic without a bunch of interruptions. Thank you.
You never disappoint with your reactions. I can't hear this version without crying either. The Gospel in a few lines of music...brilliantly written and performed.
Yes... music can transcend beliefs. I am not religious either but I am moved to tears each time I hear this song by Voctave. Mark's passionate belief finds its way into my heart through his song. He is a good writer and singer. And Voctave is so talented it is hard to believe they are just human. Kate Lott's upper register voice is haunting. Grazie Deadgrl Ciao ❤
Im right there with you, happy emotional tears. Im a huge fan of Mark Lowery, the comedian and singer. I became big fan of yours because of Voiceplay and Geoff Castellucci. And i can't wait to see your reaction to Carol of the Bells that Geoff released recently.
Sometimes God uses music to bring you closer to Him. I know that I get really emotional when I listen to Mark and Voctave sing this. I cry each and every time and watching your reaction to it, made me even more emotional. Thank you for your reactions. I enjoy them so much. You make me smile even through the tears.
You need to make it a habit to NOT wear makeup whenever you watch Voctave. I'm sure they've cost you a good amount of makeup from all the other reactions when you cried lol But I can't blame you, they have that effect.
it is not about mansplaining. if you ever hear an interview with Mark, he was doing a Bible study and was thinking about if he got to sit down and have a cup of coffee with Mary, what would he ask her. And yes of course she knew....but we all know that head knowledge and heart knowledge are two different things. The greatness of Jesus' birth is hard to fathom in and of itself but to realize your son was going to fulfill the promise even though the angels already told you still probably took Mary a while to process.
Whether you are "religious" or not, Jesus is REAL, and the story is REAL, and He wants to hear from each one of us. Talk to Him. He's waiting.

Mark didn’t choose them, Jamey Ray of Voctave arranged this acapella version and Mark was featured as the lead.
@@thisismetoday7423 I didnt mean that literally

Personally, I think heaven is listening with interest.

We love how beautifully receptive your soft heart is.
As a Christian pastor myself, I have no problems with your content. I do not feel excluded at all. Ever
When the person singing the words is the same person who's heart wrote the words, its always special.

Nothing like performing with the man who wrote the very song you're singing! 👍
Voctave and Mark are both out of this world! Your response is so on target.
Great reaction. The first time I heard this was when Mark Lowry was with The Gaither vocal band. Now to me, this version is the best. Sound like a choir of angels backing him up!!
God speaking through Mark's singing.

Inspired Music and wonderfully written !!!!
Truly beautiful performance.
My favorite rendition of this song so beautiful
The way they did this song is the greatest
The most beautiful song I've ever heard ! And your reaction was perfect and precious. Thank you........

There's a very special feeling to this version. Others are lovely, too... but this one... Mark's conviction and joy make it unique.
Amen to that!
As well as Jamie Ray's brilliant arrangement.
You never disappoint with your reactions. I can't hear this version without crying either. The Gospel in a few lines of music...brilliantly written and performed.
YES!
I love your true reactions, you are a trouper. It is quite alright to get emotional, I get emotional watching you get emotional. Thank you
I’ve been waiting for your reaction to this and it was the same as mine. I cried and cried ❤

Voctave's version is the definitive song. It's ethereal, heavenly and absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for doing this.
This is the best version
Im right there with you, happy emotional tears. Im a huge fan of Mark Lowery, the comedian and singer. I became big fan of yours because of Voiceplay and Geoff Castellucci. And i can't wait to see your reaction to Carol of the Bells that Geoff released recently.
You reacted to this exactly the way I did! Already a fan of Voctave, this is my favorite so far of their work.
Loved your reaction
I love your emotional and so pure reaction
It seems like you have not yet seen Voctave's "Carol of the bells of Notre Dame." Please do. 😊😊😊
Thank you for your reaction, loved it!!!
It’s simply angelic. My favorite version. ❤

I was stunned the first time I heard this, thank you for reacting to it! Trans Siberian Orchestra will make you emotional too if you check them out!
Girl I'm 💬 thinking somebody got to you 😊
Mark Lowry wrote the lyrics. His friend Buddy Green the music.
Just as an FYI, he held that first note for 18 seconds and the second one for 14 seconds.
This one is my personal favorite version.
I know you cry easily....but your tears have never been more appropriate than when reacting to THIS song.
Mark wrote the lyrics. His friend wrote the music.
The best version, bar none
Nobody sings this song like Mark.
Gaither vocal band - let freedom ring pleasee!!!
Ok...Liliac ( again) dropped a new cover video....OMV at that...."Heaven & Hell".....been out since last Friday.
Thank your for sharing beautiful reaction.
Mark said in an interview once that he had many more questions for Mary but they didn't rhyme
Another version with Mark and the gaither vocal band.

React to David Phelps - Oh holy night live
I think if you hear this and you aren't moved in the least (religious or not), there is something wrong.
You need to make it a habit to NOT wear makeup whenever you watch Voctave. I'm sure they've cost you a good amount of makeup from all the other reactions when you cried lol But I can't blame you, they have that effect.
You should keep a box of Kleenex near the microphone for just in case.
David Phelps - Oh Holy Night pleasee!!!
Since Mark is singing here can you really call it a cover?
Wow so beautiful you are ashly
Jesus loves you ashley .just reach out to him.
The bible clearly states that Mary DID know! 😅Otherwise it's beautiful, but the mansplaining is too much! 😅😂🤣
