So I did this to my cupra born (same mirrors), but it looks like the edge of the mirror cap doesnt line up / goes flush with the signal light? Is that normal?
Mine was flush. Sorry to ask but did you get genuine VW caps? Just remembering from when I swapped a cap on another car, the fit wasn't perfect.
If VW caps then the fit should be be perfect. Maybe a clip isn't engaging correctly or something. Could try comparing against the old ones to see if there is a difference...

No, you need different caps. They are available, just different part number.

Did this modification with the indicators (only) today. But after attaching the mirrors again I can’t seem to be able to adjust in all angles, both mirrors 😢 don’t know what I did wrong. On one of the sides I couldn’t even adjust it up again after pulling it off. The motor just made a clicking sound. I guess I just have to send the car to the shop to fix it 🥺
You've pushed the mirror bracket out of alignment. Remove the mirror glass again again and you should be able to see where it is misaligned.
Apply even pressure when pushing the glass back on again.
Thank you so much for your reply. I will try to do it again. So typically of me to do something like this, even though I work as a robot technician 😂🙈
Also make sure the the mirror bracket is in the middle position, not up or down, then it makes it easier to push the glass back into the bracket, without pushing the bracket out of alignment.

Not sure on the rear indicators.
Mine has them, but you can switch them to 'normal' flashing in the settings.
Sounds like a mix of software and hardware so a DIY upgrade might not be possible.
Great video, I have been thinking about adding these to my ID.3 - The software control element, does the software automatically recognise these in the settings and give you additional options?
No additional options or software to configure. They just plug and play.

I’ve caught my wing mirror on a lamppost while parking and knocked off the cover. It looks as though the plastic clips are damaged. I’m wondering if these covers might be a good solution, I’d appreciate your thoughts.
Yes, they're direct replacements. You might find cheaper 3rd party covers on Amazon but make sure they fit. All covers are available with or without a hole for the blind spot indicator, so choose appropriately.
