    We have just bought a 2 year old ID.3 1st Edition.
    Haven't been on a night time drive yet but our expectations are high having just watched this. 👍

    The ID.3 matrix lights are the best feature of the car.
    I struggle with night vision after nearly losing the sight in my left eye many years ago, driving at night now is SO much better!
    The video doesn’t do them justice, if you’re really interested try them…

    Excellent side by side comparison. The having to remember to intervene on the cases it doesn't work with is a nuisance and it seems that really what is needed is a comparison shot from the oncoming car...There's a challenge.

    The ID3 matrix lights are really good, have them on my ID3 as well and don‘t want to miss them anymore. But I have to say I‘m a lights nerd 😅 Would always pay for the best lights that I can get

    I think the Matrix light is more grainy on first meters in front of the car.
    The cornering is nice.
    Born standard LED is fine enough though.

    Great test, I like the born but the lights are important so even though I don't think the ID3 is as nice a total package the lights would lean me towards the VW

    Matrix lights are not something what I really need. Rather, I'm afraid that I would start to squint from them. Basic LED headlights are enough for me, even without driving around on the road, they are much better than conventional bulbs.

    I tested the ID Light once in night time. The Matrix LED is very bright, but has a "curtain" effect. It's strange to see the lights moving while you drive. So I guess I will be happy with my Born (once it arrives)

    Thanks for yet another intertaining and relevant video! I have had matrix lamps for 3 years with my Ford S-Max. Always turns the matrix part off in weat conditions. Otherwise I get the flash from opposing cars. My wife's old Kia Picanto has much, much better lamps. The light is way more powerful and warmer (halogen bulbs) than that of the S-Max. As far as I can tell from the images of this excellent video, the Cupra Born seems to have the more powerful light of the two cars.

  • @MB-vn9cq
    @MB-vn9cq 2 роки тому +2

    With the Cupra you get much more for your money I think. ID.3 has no alloy wheels, no full LED headlighs/taillights and no nice sport seats as standard. The Cupra costs pretty much the same but has all of this as standard plus the 12 inch display. This gives you an advantage of actually a few thousand euros if you compare similar equipped models. There is no matrix LED on the Cupra but at least it has Full LED as standard and in the moment you cannot even order an ID.3 with matrix LED.

    • @BatteryLife

      In Germany same spec Born costs a bit more.

    • @MB-vn9cq
      @MB-vn9cq 2 роки тому +1

      @@BatteryLife I ordered a Cupra Born in Germany. Same spec Born is definitely much cheaper than the ID.3. In my comment above you can see the packages you need to order in the ID.3, to get it equipped as the Born. So in my opinion it is much cheaper.

    • @RedBatteryHead
      @RedBatteryHead 2 роки тому +1

      @@MB-vn9cq you're right.
      I ordered one in NL. Was almost 3K more cheap.
      Benefit of ID range, now after 1st year, is you can configure every package you like.
      But like for like an ID comes in more expensive.

    I dont like such test, when you compare two different light systems. If comparing, then ID3 Standard to Born Standard. But one good thing about the Test: it shows me only one thing now: The 1800 Euro for the Matrix LED is not worth.

    • @TheDiesssel
      @TheDiesssel 2 роки тому

      @@MB-vn9cq ID.3 standard light is full led front and rear. The only lights that are not LED, are the front indicator lights (the orange ones). in standard lights, you do not get fog lights function, nor cornering lights. From the test of Battery life, I saw that the matrix leds, create some kind of dark 'holes' in the lighting of the side of the road. My id3, and the cupra in the video, does not cause these. The video showed me what I had realised by reading the matrix specs. That their actual advantage, is that the HIGH beam does not blind the cars in front of you, and at the opposite lane of you. ok. And the fog function. Nothing more. I wouldn't go for that extra 1.800 euros for the matrix led. I am happy with the simpler led system. Thanks @battery life !
