Fully agree. I'll use mine for some dirt roads but mostly on road. I appreciate it not being weighed down by did plates I didn't need and efficiency on the highway.
You can indeed get the 3.0 in the Custom and LT Trailboss. In 2023 you were not able to get the 3.0 diesel in the ZR2, but the 2024 will offer the 3.0 diesel.
Yep , Absolutely true. That's what I'm running now. Very Happy with it. Motor is smooth and torquey. Super fuel efficient. Only drawback, it sounds like my wife's buick encore. Barely can hear it. The 6.2 V8 with a good exhaust is in a whole different category. What would i do if I could roll back the clock on this purchase ? hmmmmm
Greetings Alex. GMC gets an honorable mention for its 3.0-liter diesel engine as it's highly efficient, reliable, and perfect for light off-roading. In the style of the Professional Grade of course; any aristocrat would like to have it. Just remember that he has an older brother; Yes, the GMC AT4X is relentless on more challenging purposes. Thanks for your video Alex; My best wishes and BLESSINGS FOREVER! 🙏
I believe the AT4x does address some of this trucks omissions, except for the 3.23 axle. But that comes with e-locking front and rear diffs, and additional skid plates, including the gas tank if I remember correctly. It’s only available with the 6.2 gasser though and is quite a bit more expensive. I think this AT4 is more for occasional light off-roading, and is still a nice truck and more capable than most buyers will ever need.
My '10 Nissan Frontier has a 3.13 gear ratio 🥲 So gutless, and still gets only 15-17 mpg on a good day. Decently reliable though, besides the junk rear axle lol. The C200k is a far insuperior axle to the M226 that came in the Pro4x
I think this package is a nice landing spot between the z71/x31 packages and the full blown zr2/at4x packages. and I agree most buying will drive these things to the mall and tow the odd 3,000lbs trailer.
I take my 2023 3.0 off road up the mountains. With the extra ground clearance and off road tires. It does relatively well. I had a 2020 high country 6.2 , without 2in lift and all season bridestone 22” alenza’s it was best on highway.
Thank you very much for these videos. I just bought an AT4X AEV and honostly it is a whole other league from my Tacoma. I know nothing of diesels, and not much of an overlander, but im retired now and looking for some adventure. These videos help give me some understanding of this beautiful monster. 😂
The items you mentioned, e-locker(s), xtra skid plates, etc, you want to look at the GMC AT4X, or the Chev ZR2 packages... 2024 Silverado 1500 Trail Boss LT, 3.0l LZO came in the truck, ordered by the dealership, purchased by me...
I really like that you didn’t worry about the soft touch materials and didn’t even look at the infotainment screen, as most reviewers talk about it endlessly. This truck imo is ok. It looks good outside. Interior could use some repairs. But overall I couldn’t see giving the money they want for these things. There are better out there.
like what? asking for reference, looking to upgrade from a f150 work truck. im looking for all the bells and whistles but something that i can take on some light off roading. had my eyes on the new Canyon at4x too lol
If anyone is considering buying a truck because they want to get into off roading just do yourself a favor and buy the Power Wagon, it can not be beat from any stock truck from the factory, you will not regret it.
Now that is some factual stuff right there. The PW is by far the most capable truck off the factory line with the most offroad focused components. I will say though it is a larger truck so if you are looking to get into smaller places it can be a little difficult. but if the truck will fit, the PW will get through just about anything.
@chrisjohnston7608 lol 2019-2023 GMC/CHEVROLET Transmission problems, don't go that route unless you want to get on the class action lawsuit with truck at the shop, Google it, it's also on sponsored on Facebook united states wide
Great video! I know this video is a year old, maybe options have changed, but I was just as a Chevy dealer a month ago and I could have sworn the Trail Boss I looked at had the 6.6L (gas) engine in it??
How could the "absolute most important upgade" be tow hooks? Correct me if I'm wrong but all of the new Sierra trucks come with tow hooks, those are just red. Currently awaiting delivery on my Sierra elevation which is basically the same truck without the 2 in lift. Black tow hooks are included.
Still wrapping my head around the idea of a 6.2L gasser being an upgrade over the 3.0L diesel. Weird. No diesel with the Trail Boss must be a Canadian thing. It's available in the U.S. in the Trail Boss.
How do these hold up with city driving? My commute is a maximum of 10 miles, but is 100% city. I currently own a 2023 Tundra (8,500 mi). I love the truck, but the premature engine failures have me concerned. Dealers aren't even accepting 22/23 trades because of the issue and toyota dealerships can't sell impacted inventory until their is a fix. I bought the extended warranty because i planned to have this 15 years but not if an engine blows!
Just finalized a deal on a 24 AT4 today, and it’ll be delivered tomorrow morning. Got it in Thunderstorm Gray w/ the 3.0… Can’t wait! One minor correction, you can get the 3.0 Duramax in a Trail Boss. I cross shopped it before deciding to roll with the GMC.
@@ReelDealp The Elevation with X31 Package is super nice. Very handsome truck for sure… Congratulations! I was going to get one, but ended up with the AT4 when I couldn’t find an Elevation optioned out the way I wanted.
@@ReelDealp I believe you are correct. I haven’t spotted a single one with black wheels. I uploaded 2 “amateur” videos of my truck if you want to check it out.
Can anyone confirm if the AT4/Trailboss package reduces overall fuel economy on the Duramax diesel? 21/23 on the AT4 vs 24/26 on a regular 4wd diesel???
I have the 3.0 duramax in my trail boss and it’s the LZ0. I’ve read and watched online that they can’t fit the diesel engines inside the Yukon at4/ Yukon xl at4/ Tahoe z71/ suburban z71 because of the engine size.
So from your comment and several other I guess the newer trail boss can get the duramax seems like 2023 + which is a nice thing because the 3L duramax is a great engine option.
Can anyone tell me biggest tire /rim combo I can go with a 2023 AT4 1500 3.0 without trimming or rubbing ? also a little offset , like an inch or so pass fenders ? ty
The fenders are so dumb, while they are spacious vertically, horizontally there is very little space preventing upgrading wheels and tires to larger sizes that are measurable. Without cutting things.
This truck is way better than Trailboss more luxurious and skid plates metal. Trailboss skid plate is plastic and feels cheaper than this truck that’s why I am upgrading to an AT4 I really love duramax engine.
@@GettysGarage from what I can tell, the max towing package comes with 3.42 gears if you get the 6.2 V8 or 3.73 gears with the 3.0 diesel. I am considering getting a new High Country with the diesel and max towing package to replace my 2019 RST 5.3 V8. I really like my 2019 but I also really like the efficiency of the small diesel. Interestingly, the High Country Chevy comes standard with the 2-speed transfer case. Other modes require the Trail Boss or Z71 packages to get that.
Your power wagon also has larger tires than this AT4 so the shorter 4.10 gear makes up a bit for the already longer ratio that comes with the larger tires. Realistically though, how many people that buy these AT4 actually use them for anything more then construction site off roading. Lol honestly even a RWD truck can do that. These are just for show
I have been on the fence with getting this truck due to the complaints I see about it burning oil... Can anyone comment on this about how this could be avoided if you have any knowledge on it?
My son bought one 3 months ago. Super versatile and decent off road. ..not At4x capable but thumbs up everywhere else
Mpg
Lets be real. Most people buy AT4 because they look dope as hell lol. People dont tend to legit offroad a $60k pickup truck
Why not. I wouldn't do crazy trails but still would get it dirty off roaring a bit
I agree
The whole point of getting this trim is to go in the bush
Fully agree. I'll use mine for some dirt roads but mostly on road. I appreciate it not being weighed down by did plates I didn't need and efficiency on the highway.
I take mine out quite often and off road it in 8 states so far in 1 year and it’s been really good. I have 30k miles on it already
Best trucks on the market. I hammer down on my g80 for years and never breaks on me. I tow alot and haul lots of payload. Good review
Thank you sir! I had a 96 GMC k1500 with a G80 locker. Loved it! truck had 450,000km on it and the G80 was still working.
@TheGettyAdventures now that's a real beauty. 3.0 babymax does it have power? I like to hammer down on my trucks in tough solutions

This truck is perfect for the truck enthusiast that would use this as a daily driver and likes to go light - moderately challenging offroading.
This truck is great for towing my '93 Jeep Cherokee XJ on a trailer. When the truck can't go any further, the XJ takes over. ;-)
