Most gear demos make me want to spend a bunch of money on pedals, but yours actually make me want to pick up my guitar and play. Thanks for the inspiration!
just took the headphones off and said to the wife, 'not often I say this, but this guy is a fucking good player' she just snored and rolled over, but wtf does she know!
I watched this video a bunch over many months, tried the pedal at a store, bought it last week, gigged with it twice, and..... love it. It is exactly as you illustrate. Transparent, tight, a degree of compression, packed with subtlety, and so natural sounding. My other high dollar overdrives will get some rest now. So far have used the JHS with a '96 Strat, '10 Nash Tele (lake placid blue of course), Fender Deluxe and Quilter Aviator. Sounds great with any combination of above. Works well with Xotic RC Boost feeding it. Thanks for producing the best gear reviews on the Tube. JH
I’ve rewatched this video over and over since I bought the Morning Glory. Your video was helpful to inform me in making my initial buying decision, but it’s proven even more valuable in helping me to learn to use the pedal and understand its range.Thank you!
This young man has quickly become one of my very favorite contemporary git-slingers. His taste and technique, along with his knowledge and enthusiasm is infectious. So inspiring.
You just got another subscriber. Great playing and I mean phenomenal!!! Also appreciate the response back on questions. I was hoping to compare this to a BB preamp but have had a hard time finding a shop that carries both. Your insight and response to someone else's same question helped immensely.
I’ve only recently discovered your channel. I’m really digging your stuff, man. But I really couldn’t care less about the damn pedal after listening to your opening jam. Some of the best playing I’ve ever heard. Stevie would be proud.
Each of your demo vids entice me to expand my pedal collection - no doubt about that! That said, they more importantly inspire my to pick up my guitar and play! I'm sure I'm not alone in this regard. Incredible work JLJ, keep 'em coming!!!
You play so well brother, I'll send you a 10 dollar Behringer distortion and I'm sure you would make it sing like sunshine. Great demo and nice sounding pedal.
Great video per usual Jay! I know you have read it a million times, but your joy and passion is something we all enjoy! Thanks for putting so much in these videos and letting your personality shine. Also, I was curious if anyone could compare how this pedal fares against the Walrus Audio Voyager? While trying them both out in person is always preferred, that's simply not an option unfortunately at the moment.
I love that you keep a tool box in your studio/office! What could be a better/safer form of storage or organization for valuble and often heavy items. It's genius
I love seeing praise from other companies when credit is due. Also, the Pelitaur is bonkers. I love how you trolled everyone with a klon box. I think you guys should now make a klon but put it into a Muff looking box.
that was one of the most tasteful renditions of Lenny I've ever heard. I have one of these coming in the mail today and this demo got me way more excited about it.
Geez, your attack on Little Wing was amazing. That lounge club-y, finger picking section around 1:14 was such a refreshing take on the song too. Once again, kudos!
Great playing as usual! And killer Tele! I was told by a drunken bird that the JHS MG can get Marshall BluesBraker pedal type gain...but listening to this review, it is a much lower gain, transparent, and chimey sounding gain...a lot like my Greer Lightspeed actually..I may look somewhere else for my Bluesbraker like tone. Great review!
the bluesbreaker pedal actually rly isnt that gainy. if you look online, you'll notice that there is absolutely no headroom and you have to almost max the volume to reach unity. also i have the mg and with the red mode, it gets gainier than the bluesbreaker. on the other hand, if you want the most accurate bluesbreaker clone, it is peobably the snouse black box. rock on!
Wow! To my ears the blue Tele is hands down the best over the silver tele. Some crazy overtones and a wide tonal range. Sweet pedal, super transparent!
I have version 3 of the Morning Glory. Probably the best pedal that I've ever purchased. I got it to basically replace my Electro Harmonix Soul Food overdrive, since I didn't really care too much of the sound when the drive in that pedal was in the middle position. The Morning Glory is more expensive than a lot of the other "transparent overdrives" out there on the market, but it is defiantly worth your extra buck. It is a pretty flexible pedal and no matter what position you set the tone, volume, or drive, it always just sounds great.
+Joe Sanders No, just similar. They fall under the category of "transparent overdrives." But the Morning Glory is based out of the bluesbreaker (as Jay Leonard mentioned). The Soul Food on the other hand, is based out of the Klon pedal, like the J rockett archer pedal and a Lovepedal kalamazoo.
+Beef-Wellington thanks, forgot the part about the bluesbreaker, ha. When I saw your part about the soul food it made me start wondering. J Rockett has a new Lenny pedal based off SRV's dumble steel string singer. I wonder if that would be similar to these as well. Would probably sound at least as good while playing Lenny like jay did here, ha
I love what you play, it's like Keith Jarrett playing guitar. Edit: I know this is a pretty late comment, but I just heard you for the first time at Henning's thing.
Just to be clear, at 5:09 there is a misinformation. Before v4, that switch was a HI-CUT switch. It was never a gain switch. Now it's a gain switch and ALSO it can be controlled by the red remote.
I have to start with a compliment by telling I love your videos. Perhaps it’s my ears but people sometimes forget that UA-cam audio is way compressed. It’s hard to tell the difference for boost switches.
I like this version and of course ur playing is superb but I had the original version which well I don't have it now. I couldn't hear a difference. Now this one has more of a sound I like.
Absolutely love the demo! Trying to decide between a V4 Morning Glory or a Bondi Effects Del Mar. Not sure which one I like more.. Fantastic demo and playing, friend!
+Estee Nieves Ooh... I actually have no experience with Bondi at all. I'm just on the website right now and it looks like super cool stuff. Thanks for the tip and let me know which one you go for.
Most gear demos make me want to spend a bunch of money on pedals, but yours actually make me want to pick up my guitar and play. Thanks for the inspiration!
+Matthew Montgomery When I read that, it makes me feel like I did my job :)
Totally agree.
Matthew Montgomery Well said. And what a compliment!
Yes, I agree as well...5 years later :)
just took the headphones off and said to the wife, 'not often I say this, but this guy is a fucking good player' she just snored and rolled over, but wtf does she know!
Classic, haha!!
As my stepdaughter would say, “divorce time!”
Hahaha so true. Hey this guy just gave SRV a run for his money.
Sensational playing with a tone to die for. Really enjoying these, thanks
+Luke Kerr thanks!
who cares about the pedal - i came here just to hear you play ! NICE
sam127001 😂😂😂😂😂I came for the pedal but the most is to hear you playing xD
I watched this video a bunch over many months, tried the pedal at a store, bought it last week, gigged with it twice, and..... love it. It is exactly as you illustrate. So happy you dig it! I use mine all the time too. Really appreciate the view :)
Dude. Honestly. Your playing is out of this world. Great phrasing!
I really appreciate it!
Man, that SRV cover at the beginning was phenomenal! The tone was spectacular, too!
+Belac Ickekl Thanks so much :)
I’ve rewatched this video over and over since I bought the Morning Glory. Your video was helpful to inform me in making my initial buying decision, but it’s proven even more valuable in helping me to learn to use the pedal and understand its range.Thank you!
You're an exceptional player man. Cheers.
This young man has quickly become one of my very favorite contemporary git-slingers. His taste and technique, along with his knowledge and enthusiasm is infectious. So inspiring.
I forgot that I was watching a pedal demo for the first 2 minutes. Awesome stuff!
It's was very inspiring look at you playing and the pedal is wow !!! great great tone and of course playing is all there. keep doing it !!!!
You just got another subscriber. Great playing and I mean phenomenal!!! Also appreciate the response back on questions. I was hoping to compare this to a BB preamp but have had a hard time finding a shop that carries both. Your insight and response to someone else's same question helped immensely.
Actually got chills from a demo. You have so much feel and it bleeds through my speakers.
Thank you so much!
So great to come to a channel where most of the comments are really singing the praises of the fantastic musician that's playing.
You said it! We may not be the biggest channel yet, but I think this is the absolute best community of subscribers on the web :)
JayLeonardJ plus I kind’ve like that you’re not corporate big. Then we lose you. Although, better for you but u know what I mean? I know #selfishofme
video just cost me 200 bucks, keep em coming bro
$200 well spent :)
Great demos! Your playing is stoopid-good!
Outstanding playing and tone! Great demo! Love the sound of this pedal. Kudos!
I’ve only recently discovered your channel. I’m really digging your stuff, man. But I really couldn’t care less about the damn pedal after listening to your opening jam. Some of the best playing I’ve ever heard. Stevie would be proud.
Thanks man!
One of the coolest versions of Lenny I have heard in a long time!!! Cool pedal, better playing!!!
Each of your demo vids entice me to expand my pedal collection - no doubt about that! That said, they more importantly inspire my to pick up my guitar and play! I'm sure I'm not alone in this regard. Incredible work JLJ, keep 'em coming!!!
+Brent Beaumont Yup... The pedal demos are just the McGuffin; this page is really about my love for guitars and the joy of playing.
Nice, great job! Certainly the happiest pedal demo I've ever seen. :)
Really made Lenny your own. Awesome!
Justin Hannam that’s his nickname too. Haha. Seriously.
Awesome demo. Great playing and right to the point on the features. Well played!
You play so well brother, I'll send you a 10 dollar Behringer distortion and I'm sure you would make it sing like sunshine. Great demo and nice sounding pedal.
+Dennis Mccann Haha, challenge accepted :)
Im waiting ..
@@raymondkamasaan4799 still waitin' over here...
Great playing. Great tone! A demo can't be any better than this.
Thanks man, I really appreciate it :)
Amazing playing and tone!! I may need some Glory in my life...
I saw you on an elevated jam tracks jam, now here and I just have to say... I could listen to your playing all day. Truly great.
I really appreciate it. It was a blast to do a spot on that page, thanks for taking the time to watch my vids!
Wow. When you flipped that high cut and left the drive up it cops a serious Klon tone! Very versatile yet transparent.
Great review and thanks for mentioning the color blind thing! I know all about that lol
Sensational playing! Subscribed!
Thanks man, I really appreciate it!
One more sub
One more!
Fantastic demo! Amazing player!!!
I love that you keep a tool box in your studio/office! What could be a better/safer form of storage or organization for valuble and often heavy items. It's genius
You can thank my wife for that idea. That think has come in handy a million times over!
tone and playing aside, what i like most is your enthusiasm! thanks for making it fun like it should be (all gear snobbery aside)!!!!!
Nice playing! oh... and nice pedal!
When you take your time your playing sounds great. Cheers. Great demo.
+Jin J Thanks. Sometimes it's nice to relax and take a breath :)
Perfection in a box!
I love seeing praise from other companies when credit is due. Also, the Pelitaur is bonkers. I love how you trolled everyone with a klon box. I think you guys should now make a klon but put it into a Muff looking box.
dude you're an insane guitar player. great dynamics!! and great reviews and I love how optimistic you are. haha.
Really appreciate it: thanks!
I just ordered this pedal and In anticipation of arrival I found this vid. Incredible playing 😱
that tone is delish! dayum bro i want one so bad! badass player too
wow--some great playing!
that was one of the most tasteful renditions of Lenny I've ever heard. I have one of these coming in the mail today and this demo got me way more excited about it.
You'll dig it! It's a fun pedal :)
Wasn't looking at the screen only to realize that what I mostly thought was the effect was actually his awesome fingers.
JAY - you are money my man! That is TONE for days - and your playing is superb!
I really appreciate it man. Thanks for commenting!
Great interpretation of little wing. Thanks
Geez, your attack on Little Wing was amazing. That lounge club-y, finger picking section around 1:14 was such a refreshing take on the song too. Once again, kudos!
+Bob Mac I really appreciate it :)
I believe that was Riviera Paradise by SRV
+asc95 it's Lenny by srv, with jay making some improvisations over it. Great. Stuff
Joe Sanders You're absolutely right. I always get those songs confused in my head.
Great playing Jay and a good understanding of what the gear does.
I have bought both a Swart amp and this pedal on the strength of your demos.
I really appreciate it! I hope the gear worked out for you :)
Jay..man, right on.. just wow.
+Mike Jackson thanks
My man breaks out into Lenny. Get it.
Such beautiful and inspirational playing , keep up the great work man 🤘🏼
I love your videos. I just ordered a morning glory 🙌
The pedals are cool but way more fun to watch you play! Awesome!
I love this pedal. It is exactly what I wanted but didn't know it. It just feels and sounds perfect! Killer.
It's a great one :)
I want the pedal, but moreover I want to be able to play like you.

Thanks! Welcome to the team!
Incredible playing !
Thanks!
Amazing playing and tone! you're an inspiration for me. keep it up!
Thanks so much! I definitely will
Great playing as usual! And killer Tele! A pure feel inspiration pedal for all styles
Bro I could listen to this all day! Now I need a morning glory...
+David Broadway Man, I can play that pedal all day too :)
Damn, this pedal sounds great!
Wow! To my ears the blue Tele is hands down the best over the silver tele. Some crazy overtones and a wide tonal range. Sweet pedal, super transparent!
Love that blue Tele. Took me about a year to dial it in, but it's perfect now (bruises and all).
as a primarily rhythm player, your reviews help me a lot more to see how i could use them
Thanks so much! I try to approach all the demos from a practical perspective; I'm really happy you are getting something out of them.
Man ! Fuck the Pedal ! that playing and those faces XD
GREAT VIDEO
I love your videos, every aspect of them. Thank you for the time and effort!
Thank you so much; comments like this always make it worth all the work :)
Holy shit……your guitar playing is like, “His guitar playing is like…..HOLY SHIT!!”
I'm stealing this "arrangement" of the classic SRV tune, too. Bravo!
+operatingnurse Steal away :)
como tocas querido! sos un campeón del mundo!!!!!!!!
Hey man...every pedal sounds great through your hands....really!!! :-)))
Holy SHIT you are a phenomenal guitarist. Unbelievable.
I have this pedal and love it but your playing is crazy!!
Thanks!
Maaan what a sweet video, ithas superb playing and a nice and short explanation about the pedal, thnx for the demo
+Roberto Mendiola No prob! Thanks for watching!
Your playing is very inspiring
I really appreciate it. Thanks :)
This video inspired me to get the morning glory pedal!!! thanks man,I love mine!!
Ooh, you will love it! Thanks for watching.
I love you. Sooo good! Thanks!
Wow! You do play guitar! Really nice demo. Subscribed! :D
I appreciate it! thanks :)

+Beef-Wellington Totally agree. It's has a wonderful way of adding a lot of magic to your tone without taking it over :)
Seems pretty similar to the wampler Tumnus. Is this intended to be a klone like the soul food is, or is it just similar? Thanks

Would probably sound at least as good while playing Lenny like jay did here, ha
It's not what you've got that counts but what YOU can do with what you've got.
don't be fooled. this guys plays great and his tele sounds awesome. i doubt if it has much common with this paricular pedal.
Really great videos dude, I'm waiting for the Thunderbolt! =)
+Mark Martins Thanks so much... You'll love the Thunderbolt; it is lighting in a bottle.
I spent $200
JHS made $200
Jay made $5 but had fun making it!!!!
just found your ch...
sensational playing
Good stuff. I'd have liked to hear more neck and blend pup playing, your bridge was wicked bright!
+Brian Loftus Cool. Funny enough, I use the blend with my clean tone all the time, but very rarely with grit...
I love what you play, it's like Keith Jarrett playing guitar.
Edit: I know this is a pretty late comment, but I just heard you for the first time at Henning's thing.
Thanks for watching. Henning is a really fun dude: had a blast at his event!
I'm colorblind too. BIG THX to JHS! =DDDDD
+Pedro Otávio de Farias I know!!!! There is so much awesome stuff I don't buy because of that issue.
the one i got doesn't actually click and there is a huge jump in volume between channels. Nice quality control.
The playing 💪
Just to be clear, at 5:09 there is a misinformation. Before v4, that switch was a HI-CUT switch. It was never a gain switch. Now it's a gain switch and ALSO it can be controlled by the red remote.
Thank you so much for your comment. I totally missed that one and will fix the video :)
これだけ上手いとどんなペダルを使ってもいい音に聞こえちゃうね。本当に上手。
I have to start with a compliment by telling I love your videos. Perhaps it’s my ears but people sometimes forget that UA-cam audio is way compressed. It’s hard to tell the difference for boost switches.
Dope guitar.
Wow glad I found this channel. New subscriber here!
+ModNic Welcome to the club! I'll keep posting :)
Dude your playing is lush
Thanks so much :)
I like this version and of course ur playing is superb but I had the original version which well I don't have it now. I couldn't hear a difference. Now this one has more of a sound I like.
I never played the original surprisingly, but I definitely can attest to the awesomeness of the mk4!
Wow! So soulful... My favorite one so far! Must get this pedal!!! Can you tell my wife that I need this one and should be allowed to buy it ?
+Тарас Загайкевич I may not be able to convince your wife, but I'll let you know that this is pedal made my weekend tour pedalboard :)
🤣😂I'm dead
The main reason I never got married. I couldn’t imagine having to ask for permission to buy stuff I want.
Great demo....
You are a dangerous guy. You play so well that anything you try sounds amazing, it's really hard to keep objective towards the gear you demo.
+JayLeonardJ thanks! Will do. Also wanted to add that the Analogman Prince of Tone is up for consideration too lol.
+Estee Nieves Ooh... Love that pedal! I'm still kicking myself for getting rid of my King of Tone...
Ten people are tone deaf. Great Demo Sir!
