So I really enjoyed this video, well done. The audio was missing a bit but it was a solid video. I’m sorry, but the CTS V is just a sharper vehicle. And I get that you have modded your CTS V but watching you smoke the Blackwing was hilarious! Best part of the video. Great stuff!
The Blackwing is definitely a bad boy with newer technology. I got a V3 cts-v and the body has a better character profile.. They toned down the aggressive look on the Blackwing to make it more sleek n classy.. V3 all day.. great cars!! 🔥🔥🫡
Salesman still in sales mode, chill man we don’t need you to try selling us the car. We’re here because we already know everything about them and like the cars. One thing tho, how are you the salesman for the brand and get the name wrong? It’s a Cadillac *CT5-V* ‘Blackwing’ not a “ct5 Blackwing”. Otherwise great job! I agree with him that the CT5 is just a more luxurious cabin but with better tech and overall build quality, switchgear/buttons and knobs. Both are equally sporty and I would _still_ take either in a heartbeat!
Most salesmen in general are pretty clueless, but this one in particular really stood out. "One of the main things we upgraded is the cue system. We got rid of the cue system...but now it's more simple like that." "I don't know if yours came with this red..." "I have an aftermarket one." "You had aftermarket but whenever you bought yours, did it come with it?"
“Ct5 blackwing” is not wrong it’s not the full name but it’s not wrong. Even tho it’s one letter (V) he’s not saying, it helps make the name shorter It’s like saying charger hellcat instead of Charger SRT hellcat
I have a few cars, a 2023 c8 stingray, a 2003 terminator cobra (700rwhp) and a 2023 ct5-v blackwing. The blackwing is the slowest of the three. But it is the most fun car I’ve ever owned. It’s just so nice, and put it in v mode and it freaking moves for how big it is. Absolutely remarkable car.
I traded the 3rd gen CTS V for the CT5 Blackwing because it was offered in MT. If the CTS V had offered manual, I would have probably kept it forever. The CTS looked better than the CT5, but the CT5 sticks to the ground a lot better than the CTS V did.
I had deposits on 2022 Blackwings at two dealerships, hoping they would get allocation. Waited over a year, and then found a 2018 CTS-V exactly the color I wanted, fully loaded, great condition. Bought that instead, and saved $30K. I just like the third gen CTS-V better, exterior and interior too. No regrets. The 2025 BW restyling and new dash are really nice, but the price difference is really significant between the two cars. CTS-V, IMO, is the better buy, it is such a gorgeous car.
The 2018 CTSV is absolutely gorgeous one of my nephews has one. At night when the lights come on that car is the best looking car on the road. Congratulations on your purchase stay safe.
Thank you. I looked at a 2024 CT5V BW yesterday, MSRP was $151,000. That's substantially more than the car was in 2022, and way more than I could ever justify paying.@@UnknownPerson-ub8ox
@@captainamerica9353 No. My CTS-V is a 3rd gen, which was only offered with an automatic. I really don't miss the manual to be honest. I don't like the marketing logic either. however, there is room in the line up for non v8 in both V and M cars. MY TT V6 Blackwing is just as quick as my CTS-V version 2
The V2 and V3 are dead sexy. The CT5-V Blackwing is super nice but doesn't have quite the attitude as previous generations. Also, it's stupid of GM to dilute the V badge by sticking it on anything but the absolute top dog.
There were no manual V3's?? Sad, but due I'm sure because too many rich fools wanted V2's with slushboxes. For comparison, the 2006 - 2010 M5's with manuals are worth double an automatic.
The Homie doesn’t know jack shit about Cadillac bro. Who is he doing reading the sticker options? oh yeah the manual you don’t have to shift until the RPM goes full 360 and it breaks.

Wish the audio picked up the exhaust notes better but v3 all the way for me because I’ve always been more for the aggressive look and feel of cars. Why I love American muscle. But they’re so unattainable now 😅
Dude needs to do a little research. The 86 on the steering wheel isn't the production number, it means that it's a 6 speed transmission the second number on the steering wheel is the production number. So this was the 212th 6 speed CT5-V BLACKWING.
The Fartallic!😂 That’s what I called these cars when I worked as a Tech servicing them. They always smelled like old folks and poop mixed with plastic.😂
For all of you who haven’t done your research, the Blackwing motor was ONLY produced for the 2019 and 2020 CT6. The “V” on all other models under Cadillac are totally different motors from the Blackwing. A simple google search and speaking with certified technicians and detailed videos on UA-cam from folks like Banks Superchargers will explain that to you. The “V” motors in the CT4/5 and Escalade are also made for the Corvette. But those ARE NOT Blackwing motors. Again, that Blackwing name was only given and is only designated for the 2019/2020 CT6. No offense but to call anything else is disrespectful to us CT6 owners who own this particular 4.2L TT engine.
I don’t understand why Cadillac didn’t put a supercharger on the 6 cylinder-V cause it would have given the car more power, especially to run with the BMW 3 cause, turbo charge gets more airflow, and that makes a huge difference in performance.
The base CTS-V does have a twin turbo 6. Regardless, they needed to differentiate the Blackwing from the standard V so it made sense that only the BW got the supercharger.
Though it is gonna be the last of its kind with 6 speed manual, the days of automatics being slow shifting are gone. The modern day automatics will outshine any human. I'm manual transmission guy but I have to admit the 6 sp shifting has had its days. I would have no problems owning a 10 sp auto on these. Now no sunroof biggest advantage that's not mentioned is that it gives the car better overall rigidity. Which is very important for handling. I'll take mine with no sunroof thank you very much. Also save me some$ to put towards a tune.
I can't drive my CT5 Blackwing MT as fast as my old CTS-V auto, but being able to choose one of six gears with a stick versus one of eight close gears with paddle shifters is worth the trade off in overall enjoyment. The CTS-V also tended to fish tail more than the CT5 Blackwing.
If you're talking about a newer AWD M and 0-60 straightline stuff, then sure. But the Blackwings were made for road courses and the Ms lose consistently to Blackwings there (keep in mind the slower manual variant beat the M5 CS at Willow Springs, auto beat 991 GT3 at VIR, etc..)
I just purchased my V3 in December but looked at 3 different CT5-V Blackwings. The Blackwings were definitely nice and I liked the fact I could get a manual transmission with the Blackwing. However, the V3 just has better overall looks and appeal to me compared to the Blackwing. As you guys stated Blackwings are often mistaken for the lower trim Vs however, there is no mistaking a V3 for a base CTS or even an ATS-V. Great video.
Yep, I have a 2017 ATS-V. Compared to the CT4 it’s way better looking. I discovered not too long ago they have many different CT4 V’s also. The only with the 3.6 twin turbo is the black wing. Not sure why they diluted the V badge. I also discovered they only made 579 of the 2017’s. Which is why I never see them, except mine.
The "V-Sport" badge wasn't getting any attention / respect so they decided to capitalize on "V" and avoid letting the "Blackwing" name goto waste like the TT V8 engine it was based on.
My ATS-V actually gets mistaken for a CTS (and having a V8) quite often, mostly because the CTS name has been around longer and the two look pretty similar to the general public.
I would say the BW' looks meaner from the back with its larger / squarish quad tailpipes, more aggressive rear diffuser, and more angular taillamps. The V3 looks a bit dated / boring from the rear, which is a problem for the ATS-V as well.
Right? He made it sound like it was only available with the CT5. He also seemed to suggest that the 6.2 V8 was only available with that model, while forgetting that the Escalade V has the same powertrain. So much for being a Cadillac "specialist"...
I don’t think that’s true. I drive a lot of gm Cadillac products because I work at a caddy dealer. A lot of regular ct5 come in with heated and cooled seats. Pretty sure it’s an option a lot of them get
Five e ntire minutes saying nonsense "This a V, not a black wing, a V, that is a blackwing, yeah a blackwing, it's not a v6, a v8, a blackwing' jesus christ.
@@andrewflanders262 Aha! Got it now. Thank you. So, the CT5-V is a six and the CT5-V Blackwing is the V8. I had to go listen again closer and look it up. LOL
Here in California we had V3s with manuals idk why he said they didn't come with manuals when they did. I have a 2015 CTS-V coupe and a 2019 sedan but I chose both in auto as they were faster than the manual as the new ones are as well. My coupe now has 800hp and 798ft lbs and my sedan has 735hp and 730ft lbs and still a work in progress and I love them both!
The BW badge wasn't available initially, so those cars only had the V badge. But hopefully they retrofitted them at no cost for anyone who bought those early examples.
Save for a bump up of 28hp and two extra gear cogs, the CT5-V BW is such a half done effort. It lacks luxury in the exterior design; I see a mucked up translation of the Escala concept's design language and after 4 years on the market, that C-Pillar is still fugly and cheapens the appearance of the vehicle. V3 was and still retains a balanced luxury and sporting aesthetic. As well, premium features on the V3 (e.g, Rear Dual climate control zones; Rear heated seats; Magnesium Paddle Shifters,...) were removed on the CT5-V BW. Those basic HVAC vents in the rear belong on an econo-car; not a supposed luxury performance vehicle. V3 all the way!
V3 front end, blackwing rear end and blackwing interior 👌🏼

I would say, V3 front end, front fenders and hood. V3 wheels. V3 rear end, but BW tail lights. V3 rear quarters. V3 dash, but BW seats and console. BW manual transmission option. 2025 BW screen.

The only thing that kept me from buying the v3 was the transmission
I’ll be ordering a Blackwing next month. The interior and suspension is similar to an 87 Oldsmobile Touring Sedan and I’m keeping it.
the yappin is insane
Id like to the see the race with both vehicles STOCK and no passengers
as a 10+ year V car enthusiast, this clip deeply offends me.
PS, I drive a 6 cylinder blackwing now LOL
V3 looks meaner
I would say the BW' looks meaner from the back with its larger / squarish quad tailpipes, more aggressive rear diffuser, and more angular taillamps. The V3 looks a bit dated / boring from the rear, which is a problem for the ATS-V as well.
You will never out shift that automatic.
the 5 v blackwing is the only V8 v, which is sad cause V badged Cadillacs were always V8s :/
The salesman is wrong, the Escalade V still has it too.
CT4 also comes in a blackwing.
Pretty sure it’s an option a lot of them get
Yeah, I don't even know why he pointed that out since the point of this video was to talk about the differences between those two cars.
V3 cts v is way betta 🔥🔥
The CT5 looks like a new Honda civic
Cts v3
Five e ntire minutes saying nonsense "This a V, not a black wing, a V, that is a blackwing, yeah a blackwing, it's not a v6, a v8, a blackwing' jesus christ.
Smoked by a V6? Hmmmm...LOL
Both are supercharged V8, essentially the same engine in the CTS V v3 and the CT5 Blackwing.
@@andrewflanders262 Aha! Got it now. Thank you. So, the CT5-V is a six and the CT5-V Blackwing is the V8. I had to go listen again closer and look it up. LOL
Built car vs a stock car
V3 for the win 🥇
Here in California we had V3s with manuals idk why he said they didn't come with manuals when they did. I have a 2015 CTS-V coupe and a 2019 sedan but I chose both in auto as they were faster than the manual as the new ones are as well. My coupe now has 800hp and 798ft lbs and my sedan has 735hp and 730ft lbs and still a work in progress and I love them both!
I am gonna max the 2019 out at 1000hp as that engine and that tranny can withstand that and still be reliable.
Not true on the V3 with a manual.. They only came from the factory with the auto.
cts -v looks better
It doesn't have that badge, it aint a black wing. You gay by that bad online. You have to own a black wing to get that black wing badge.
Imo i like the ct6v blackwing over ct5 bw
V3 all day
