I have always felt that this is the best synth solo of all time. So many great moments are packed into only 40 seconds. Its a crime that there is only audio of it during Yessongs, yet we get to see Steve's solo - which is also great. The sound here is pretty damn close but there is something missing. Rick adds a tiny bit of pink noise or noise modulation which adds a little more rasp to the sound. It is played perfectly however!
Takes me all the way back to the empire pool Wembley, Yes's Tormato tour matinee (1978)where Steve and Rick took the blood roof off, I swear, cuz .....I was there.😊🎉
The Minimoog sound and the notes seem spot on, but in the second part of the solo the timing is a bit off. Wakeman didn't play on the original studio version of Starship Trooper on The Yes Album (1971), which had Tony Kaye on keyboards, so I'm guessing this must be an emulation of Rick's solo from the live version on Yessongs (1973).
@@SergioFrias It is indeed from Yessongs (1973), The Yes Album was released in 1970, Fragile was released in 1971, the first album Wakeman performed on.
Well done. But I just don't think this solo is such a big deal. I mean, if you hear through all the three and four note fiddling around key centers, the underlying melodic line is actually pretty boring.
Nicely done. That solo got a lot of playing during development to make sure the Wakeman "cat fight" sound was well in evidence.
Hello Mark, you did a great job ,i absolutely love Miniverse
"cat fight" 😂😂 Never thought of it that way but it's a perfect name lol. Or should I say a purrrfect name 😎

Someone just asked me what my favorite synth solo was and I pointed them here!
huge compliment ,thank you
PHENOMENALLY DONE.,SIR... ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL..
LOVE ❤️ IT..
Thank you so much
Well done! This is one of my favorite solos.
Thank you :)
Find the live version of Starship Trooper from the 1978 Wembley gigs. Best version and solo from Rick.
Now this emulation is mind blowing.
I am not sure what's happening, but I like it!
Even at 200% slower it sounds fast :D
Gm blues scale
I’m going to match the settings on the video on my Behringer D and see how close it gets to the soft plugin. Thank you!
Great ,please tell me how it went
@@SergioFrias Yes. what was the result ?
Amazing
Thank you
Thought it was "I gave my ❤ to a starship trooper" 😁
Good evening friend, how do I set up this tone?
just copy the settings as you see on the screen ;)
You should have shown a picture of a $5,000 Moog Voyager and said THAT is what you were playing. That under $100 VST would have fooled most everyone.
thank you so much
@@SergioFrias Shoosh, don't tell anyone that VST's sound 98% as good as hardware in a mix.
Cool! Is this patch available? I can't find it in the Miniverse patch lib.
This is excellent! Do you happen to have the .FLP for this? I would be very interested 😊
i don't think i have the .FLP but i do have the sheet that was used :

@@SergioFrias you sir are a lifesaver. This is even better. I have been looking for this sheet for years. Thank you so much!

So was I.
This is Tony Kayes song, not Ricks
Es ist ein Song von YES an dem Tony Kaye mitgeschrieben hat. 😢

Surely it was Tony Kaye that wrote the keyboard solo for Starship Trooper?
Dieses Solo hat Wakeman live gespielt und ist auf Yessongs zu hören. Der Song würde tatsächlich vor Wakemans Zeit bei Yes geschrieben.
Do you have a midi file for this?
No midi...maybe i still have the .flp of flstudio,if i found it ill send it to you.
Eh...

From the Yes Album, best Album by yes by far !!
