I like them both, especially that red and black RG you ride. I was HD fan boy for a decade and three HD myself but couldn’t remain loyal when HD refused to improve their product like they are now. Actually pissed me off how poorly they rode, handling, braking and lack of power I jumped off that wagon. Now three Indians in and how Indian listen to it’s customers I am in on Indian. However I do like what HD is doing the last few years and really like the two new CVO but not the price tag vs my Pursuit Premium. I don’t see the fit and finish issues other than the paint differences that is real. Nice job you two!
Agree with you guys and I say this, sport bikes are getting expensive but still have the kind of material on the majority. I have the Challenger Elite and don't mind the plastics....
So basically u get a Harley for the name and an Indian if u want an actual quality motorcycle that one would expect for 30k. Pretty sure thats exactly what Harley was going for decades ago.
I often hear the comments that Indian needs a bigger selection of upgrade parts selections but as we heard in this conversation the bike already comes with premium suspension components, loads of power and standard amenities like electronic windshield and locking bags not to mention a comfortable stock seat! So what’s left to upgrade? P.S. good content
@@UnrulyRider “plenty” compared to what? A metric cruiser’s options? But I’m responding to them talking about the “premium” components that come stock on the Polaris bikes, they’re built to a price part list with a name brand slapped on it. You’re not getting those brands’ top premium components.
Nice to hear a debate from owners of both brands and not have a slagging match "talk about what you know not what you think you know" good vlog thank you👌
Your review of the challenger has been great. The goods and bad. I was listening to a podcast the other day on the indian vs hd and they said they didnt care what you rode but the comparison was so slanted towards hd i didnt even finish it and i own a hd and dont even have a indian. They said the electric windscreen is just a gimmick. Hell no. Its great for all the different riding weather.
For you and @cyclefantix to both hangout with and ride with Jerry. I’m curious why the two of you have not done a collab yet. Unless I missed then my apologies.
I agree, even just picking up the Indian feels super light. I'm a Harley guy and would never consider buying an Indian. Its the culture is what I've bought into!
I had a few bikes....bad to the bone, but if it doesn't say Harley..not excepted in the HD community...check this I had bad azz Yamaha Star Warrior...roll in to bike night back in the day....guys all around it.... Nothing but 🎉 until I said Yamaha....they all started running....so funny. Same story with my Yamaha Stradoliner and Triumph Thunderbird
I have been HD for the longest but after doing research on the Dark horse challenger and test riding one. I have to admit I'm going to go with the Dark horse. I never thought I would say that. I just feel like Indian does listen to their customers. HD makes you buy the bike at 26 to 28k plus and then drop another 10k in mods 🤦♂️. I just think challenger gives you a better platform to start with out of the dealership. I still have love for HD but at this point I want more for my money. Something as simple as putting led turn signals on the bike. Something that customers have been complaining about for years and HD still produces the same product.
I bought a road glide ultra in 2019 because of the aftermarket and dealer network you can literally get anything you want for a Harley and make it your own . I absolutely love the bike and wouldn’t trade it for anything every year I add something else which is half the fun of owning one.
Jerry the voice of reason and you right give a few more years and indian will give them a good run , but the fan boys will always choose HD while the enthusiasts might choose the Indian, i am a HD guy but possibly might go to Indian down the line
Everyone brings up Indian not being around. Harley has just got lucky through the years, i.e. AMF and Buffet bailing them out. Harley being around since 1903 needs a big asterisk after 1903. Like Mark McGwire most home runs in a single season*. (*Dude was juicin'). Technically, he got the record, but needed A LOT of help to get there. Let's not forget they have a repossession problem too. They have a lot of work to turn that company around. Hopefully, this competition makes Harley step up their game. However, I can see them wanting their savior Mr. Buffet to bail them out again in the not to distant future.
Not to mention H-D committing Volkswagen level emissions fraud and getting a slap on the wrist opposed to a billion dollar lawsuit. (For the record I think emissions on bikes are dumb) The vehicle industry is a sketchy business.
Such great content, Great Job! I ride a 22 Indian chief bobber darkhorse, and I love my bike. I came from the sport bike world and when i bought my Indian i really did alot of homework. The Harly48, streetbob and the sportster did not feel as good as the Chief that i have. Lately I've been wanting a bigger bike😂 and i have been looking at the road Glide and Challenger and i have to say the Challenger does handle and feel much better. However Harley road Glide is a bad ass bike but ride like a tank. Very tuff decision.
One thing it doesnt have is a HUGE line of aftermarket parts to customize it and make it your own. I like the indians but until more companies come out to make custom parts to customize them to my own liking Im gonna stick with my HD's.
Can’t want to see your future comparison videos. The best thing out of all this is Indian has forced HD to improve their bikes. They have such a loyal fan base who for years have settled for less than stellar performance, handling and issues. Indian comes back out under Polaris and provides an American option for all those so-called USA only riders who have Hondas and Toyotas in their garage!! Lol. I don’t believe Harley would have come out with the new CVOs model had they not felt a little pressure from Indian. Now it’s Polaris turn to improve on their bike in response to the CVOs. Bring back the lights in the fairing in the Chieftains. Improve the paint options. I can care less about plastic vs metal. Maybe that’s why Indian feels so much lighter. Doesn’t have all that extra weight of metal which isn’t even necessary.
What you said about loving the product is wrong. You were right before you corrected yourself. Y’all love the brand. Y’all love the bar and shield. It has very little to do with the bikes themselves outside of aesthetics. It has everything to do with the culture that Harley has created around their bikes. Because like dude said, if there was a way you could blind test the two bikes, a lot more people would choose Indian over Harley and that’s a fact. It’s so much a fact that Harley knows it. Which is why they put the 121 in the CVO. They did that to compete with the power plus 108. Even with the 121 it only beats the 108 in torque by like 11 foot pounds. And that’s with a 13 cubic inch increase in volume over the 108. I’m willing to bet the only reason these new CVO’s even have the 121 in them is because Harley watched their 120th Anniversary CVO with the 117 fail miserably and watched as their normal CVO customers jump ship to the Challenger and the Pursuit.
Indians are harder to re sell, at least at this point in time, and they don’t have the aftermarket support. Hopefully this won’t last forever. I ride a 22 FXLRST , my favorite Harley to date. I will say that the indian FTR is one of my favorite Indians ever produced and I would definitely buy one.
The controls on every bike but Harley disappoint me. I had a Triumph Tiger for a few years and I wondered every time I rode it, how small is the average persons hand...I felt like it was fragile. I got the same feeling when I wrapped my mitts around the Indians controls. Indian has to work on the culture of riding Indians; there is a culture of riding Harleys, granted they've been at it consistently but they also work at maintaining that relationship with the customer. Aftermarket support is critical. No matter how good a product is from the factory, motorcyclists are going to change things.
Nice to see a un biased review, would have to agree with everything said here, for me the way superior riding of the challenger is enough for me to go with Indian, not a form over function person I guess.
It's not a spouse guys, u don't have to just be diehard loyal to only one. 😂 I have my preferences, and I'm limited because of my height, but I really do like all brands.
Marvel kid my man, great honest footage. I currently own a 2020 Indian Roadmaster & its a factory/stock Beast. Like ur buddy said, if ur changing out anything on the Indian its bcuz of personal preference & not bcuz u have to!!
Everyone crying about the numbers but haven’t said anything about just riding and passing, which your azz will be doing 99% of the time. It’s safe too say the bike can dust any car out there. Especially those Honda civics
Just got done watching Adam Sandoval at Harley Davidsons 120th anniversary and his great American convoy donate 600 thousand to wounded warrior project that is the Harley culture and that’s why I ride and own a Harley
Put a Harley Davidson decal on the challenger, and Indian on a Roadglide let people try them

Premium brand name components. There’s a big difference.

Harley absolutely did not come out with ride modes first (I think Jerry said that?). Indian did it first with the Chieftain.
