Never heard discing described as super fun, but then my discing was in orange groves. Stand-up John Deere 2020s (no cabs or A/C, tractors, hand clutch). Tree branches and/or spider webs in your face every time you turned around. And 14 hours of (hot, humid) daylight in the summer. Best days of my life.
What a joy it is to see your smile and bright green eyes this morning 🥰 Harvest may be over, but daily farming is not. Always something to work on. Thanks for the great video. Love ❤️ you, Grammy
That trailer tire BEGS to blowout when; you’re in a hurry to be somewhere with it, the weather is cold/rainy,/snowy or just plain raw, or you just had a great, humongous cup of strong coffee AND a bran muffin and you think you can MAYBE make it to the shop bathroom--but, the trailer tire says; no,no,no you won’t !! Lol ! Replace the tire Laura, it’s a fraction of the cost of what it moves ! Better yet, have your dad or Grant change it out ! Don’t be so girlie ! Lol ! Great video, as always
I am very glad to hear your grandfather is getting better Laura.. My grandfather was also a Navy Seabee during both Korea & Vietnam conflict.. So out of respect for his service & your great channel I ordered a Support the Farmers Long Sleeve T shirt.... I am very proud that your going to have Caz-Gear donate to The Fisher House.. When a loved one is hurt or injured and their family has to be by their side last thing they need to worry about is where they can sleep....
I'm so glad I found this channel. I'm addicted to farming simulator and this is right up my ally. I love the way that you explain everything for us viewers. so satisfying to watch. Keep it up. Hope you channel keeps growing like crazy.
I remember the good old day's of plowing all day with my 1850 Oliver and 5 16's Case plow. Very relaxing like your talking with your disc. Unfortunately health issue's made me give it up. Love watching your channel and your dad's as well.
Recommendation for ALL of your windows: get some RainX window cleaner. AFTER you clean and dry the windows, spray the RainX onto the windows and BUFF it into the windows. Once that has been buffed dry, do that again three times. You won't need to worry about mud and rain again!! PROMISE!! It works so well on my truck while driving that I don't need to use the wipers during a total down pour. Dust and dirt, lol what dust and dirt!!
I'm a city guy and have always been a city guy, but seeing all that open space and labor-intense that farming can give me a little appreciation for our American farmers and how we take them for granted. Thank you!
Laura: I am a Grand Island boy (born long ago), now living in Colorado. Love watching your operation as it reminds me of my many farm family relatives ( Rockville, Ravenna, Loop City areas). As a kid, I helped with corn, alfalfa, dairy, feedlot, and pivot irrigation. My, oh, My, has farm technology advanced from old International tractors with sun exposed metal seats, no-power steering and heavy clutch pedals !!!. Keep it going, girl. You make us Flyover farm stock proud !
Laura I have never criticized you, but burning up a $150-200 tire come on girl that's 15-20 visits to McDonald's...love watching you...have a good laugh with me 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😊🌹
Wow, that fuel tank is big! I believe it costs a fortune to fill up, for sure. 600 litres at NOK 20,58 is a cool 12.348,- or about 1.427 dollar if you had to fill up here with coloured fuel. Not to mention what car diesel would cost..
Love when you explain the basics (like what the discs are doing) as I am a city guy who is loving learning about farming. I just drove across Canada and really loved the prairies and seeing the harvest in full swing. Always dreamed of driving a tractor under the big sky.
Laura, I get a kick out of watching you disking corn stocks down. You are using your big disk and John Deer. I did in the fall after corn picking done and I did the same job with a Farmall Super H and 10 foot wheel disk. Love your videos and watching you farm.
So glad you made it back home without tearing up your trailer tire completely I, too, used to enjoy using the disc and it feels like home when you say “supper” instead of dinner for evening meal.
Right! I mean," dinner" is a mid day meal, where I came from..n "Supper"... your day's work is done n you enjoy your evening meal! Jus sayin!? Thanks for sharing!
You were talking about raindrops on the windshield and you had good visibility out the back. I went yeah that picture is Crystal Clear she must be filming in 1080p or my cell phone is playing it in that . So, I checked and it's 360p the picture is so good you can read all the numbers and the icons on your monitor screens you must have upgraded a camera or things are going through the ether better than usual?
It's just like vacuuming the carpet and all the lines are neat and tidy! My wife thinks I'm crazy because I like to vacuum. Little does she know that it's therapy! 🥰👍
Laura I agree I think that would be much satisfying, I have disc for a buddy of mine. It was so satisfying lunch and snacks something to drink I could stay out there from sun up until after sun down!!👍👊
I love the smell of newly tilled soil. Out on Lower Green Canyon road they were discing and plowing, over on Hungry Junction Road they were plowing and leveling the fields.
We didn't use discs, the ground was too uneven and full of rockheads & fairly steep slopes due to it being Grade 2c (McCaullay Institute classification), which means medium loam soil but thin & variable depth! Basically, we had really good, versatile soil, just not enough of it!! 😁😁 Back before I gave up farming, harvest was a bit manic, especially as I was a one man operation! The rotation from grass was: Spring Barley (malting) Winter Barley (malting) Winter Oil Seed Rape Winter Wheat (distilling) So the Winter Barley needed to be cleared of bales (4ft round bales for bedding cattle) and ploughed, worked & sown/fertilised (part application for winter); this really needed to be finished by August to allow enough autumn growth to get the crop through to the spring! This cultivation would be done on non combining days & mornings if combining! But I'd prioritise sowing to keep the crop on the same start date! Once the rest of the cereals were cut, or on non-combining days (ie poor weather) I'd plough the oil seed rape & cultivate before sowing & part fertilise Winter Barley (September at the latest) and then Winter Wheat (by the middle of October)! I would normally plough the ground for Spring Barley over the winter to allow the frost to help break the ground down before spring cultivation & sowing! As I said, hectic harvest & a lot of late nights (combining until about 21.00 latest, but ploughing, etc much later!) whilst praying for good weather, which Scotland isn't famous for!! And in between all this, I'd have the inevitable breakdowns on the MF525 Super2 combine to fix! These tended to be belts & hydraulic hoses, but occasionally the odd bearing! The rest of my equipment, although old, was pretty reliable! My best bit of kit was my 4wd MF3060 Datatronic, which I bought at 3yrs old, ironically it came from the farm my mother owned before she got married! I farmed my maternal grandparents land! Dad was a baker from the Glasgow (as in Cop26 🙂!) area! I do miss farming, but I'm too old & knackered (arthritis, diabetes, etc!) to go back to it now I'm in my early 60's!! What fascinates me about Laura Farms is them wierd crops you guys grow over there, and the pure scale of it all! Laura, just how big are the farms that you and Grant have?? My biggest hurdle was trying to earn a living from 125 arable acres, without the chance to buy more land with interest rates @ 18% throughout my farming years!!
Well Laura let me tell you the satisfaction you’re talking about as you see progress as you are going down the field corn stocks black dirt corn stocks black dirt and then more black dirt and then even more black dirt you see my point a good day weekend
I remember not being able to drive the tractor until I figured it had 3 brake pedals. You really need a Ford F 8N. PS the Ford F 8N despite having 3 brake pedals often times would not stop where you wanted it to.
You call it discing. It used to be called plowing. I recommend putting something inside the cab that will hold your lunch so it doesn't end up all over the floor.
Discing and plowing are two different operations performed by two different implements, a disc and a plow. Plowing is a much deeper more radical turning of the soil. Rarely done anymore unless your switching from a grass type crop to a row crop.
I live in Michigan, and love seeing the farmers discing the fields as I drive up north during the fall. Watching them is disc is satisfying, as I love the idea that the discing is preparing the fields for a fresh start, and new planting season.
i know nothing about farming nor have i ever had an interest in farming but today after a few videos i can say that i am curious about the farming life and you videos are really entertaining to watch keep up the good work!
I, too, became entranced by these videos, so I toured State University of New York @ Cobleskill and investigated their agricultural curricula. Found out I'm no where near fit enough to physically perform. Still love your videos though.
Discing is what I miss the most from my younger years working on my dad's farm, probably because it involved driving faster than most other field work. 😀 Looking forward to seeing some of your cattle videos this fall/winter.
We cultivate after harvest as well Laura. Then plough before planting. Be interested to know if you find yields up by doing more cultivation. Discing in that weather is the best, less dust and wet enough for it to go in deeper.
New subscriber, always had much respect for farmers and their work ethic. But your videos have opened my eyes even more. Thank you for showing us your work/world....Thank You🇺🇲
Lara u r doing great as a farmer u an Grant both of your parents are teaching u great an u have to learn a little on your on to u keep farming an I will keep watching
What I love about the 8530 is seeing our favorite farmer in it! After all, Laura is the star of the show with Grant the best supporting actor! (Missed seeing "Where's Grant" today though.) Take care! Cheers from Texas!
Laura that's the best job on the hole farm so cool 😎 I did order one of your t shirts I hope I did it right. I really love watching your videos you are so Sweet Grant is a lucky guy to have you. PS I am still praying 🙏for Grandpa hope you all have a great day 💙❤
Hi Laura, happened apon(?) your channel a couple days ago, been binging since. I'm probably your grandpa's age. To make a short story long, I too joined the service (CG) rather than get drafted. After being discharged, went to community college in eastern Wa St. During the summer between school years, just to see if I could still do a full day of hard work, I tried to get a job as combine operator with a local custom harvester/ farmer. To my surprise he hired me. Watching your videos, I'm aghast/alarmed at the number of micro processers, tech gizmos in the new tractors and combines. Oh by the way I was ok harvesting wheat, but pretty lowsey with pinto beans. Love your and Grants' attitude. Our future farm generation is in good hands with you and others like you. I didn't stay with farming, just an old city guy now.
I worked on a small farm in NH in the late 80s. I loved being on the tractor all day. No cab though.. but just being out in the open and that sense of accomplishment mixed with what my dad called, “a good tired”. Wish I could’ve done that my whole life.
Tack!
That is a smooth running machine. My old tractor dose not even have power steering but then I only have 2 acres to deal with.
Nice disc does a good job works the ground nice
That was a great and informed Video! You looks beautiful!❤❤❤❤❤❤
IS THIS THE VERSION TO MAKE POPCORN ?. SO LETS GET SOME DRINK AND THE POPCORN. AND START WACHING LAURA ON THE MOVE.
What a joy it is to see your smile and bright green eyes this morning 🥰 Harvest may be over, but daily farming is not. Always something to work on. Thanks for the great video. Love ❤️ you, Grammy
I totally agree!
Hi Grammy! :-)
Grammy has arrived! 🥰

After corn harvest , it gets winter and you get more rosier, Laura.
Great Laura Farms Video, thanks for sharing
We need more Laura's in this country...humble, hard-working doesn't complain (maybe a little), and is beautiful. A very lucky Grant!
You film and explain things very well. Seems like school kids would enjoy and learn from watching your vids.
Good job out there
Laura, From Ireland, keep dem deers lit :)

Good morning from France
Great share. Interesting to watch. New subs here watching from Dubai👍
I always hated using the wipers unless it was raining fairly hard. Light drizzle will actually make visibility worse...
I'm so glad I found this channel. I'm addicted to farming simulator and this is right up my ally. I love the way that you explain everything for us viewers. so satisfying to watch. Keep it up. Hope you channel keeps growing like crazy.
JD 8530 :), thats a real tractor with no AdBlue headache!
I remember the good old day's of plowing all day with my 1850 Oliver and 5 16's Case plow. Very relaxing like your talking with your disc. Unfortunately health issue's made me give it up. Love watching your channel and your dad's as well.

Thanks Laura, I don´t coment much but it´s nice to hear more from you.
Laura, you are such a delightful soul. And you will make the best farmer, not to mention a wonderful wife. You have my admiration!
Laura: I am a Grand Island boy (born long ago), now living in Colorado. Love watching your operation as it reminds me of my many farm family relatives ( Rockville, Ravenna, Loop City areas). Keep it going, girl. You make us Flyover farm stock proud !
I fell in love with the farmer's daughter.
Thank goodness you didn't throw the rubber off the trailer tire.
Your dad has such a positive attitude. Just regrooving the tire. I like it!
I got my Laura Farms shirt in the mail last week! I love it..Prayers and hugs to Grandpa and Grandma and to you Laura and your family..🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏
Laura I have never criticized you, but burning up a $150-200 tire come on girl that's 15-20 visits to McDonald's...love watching you...have a good laugh with me 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😊🌹
A great video Laura farms.
You could of slammed the brakes on real hard , that might of slid the header forward loll, nice thanks BigAl California.

So glad you made it back home without tearing up your trailer tire completely

It's just like vacuuming the carpet and all the lines are neat and tidy! My wife thinks I'm crazy because I like to vacuum. Little does she know that it's therapy! 🥰👍
Haven't seen Grant's lunchbox for awhile......😉👍🇬🇧🇺🇸

Chex mix my favorite and since in half Czech and half Mexican I’m a Chex mex too lol
Always a great happening when the weather holds off to get work done
I know the feeling, feels good once the major stuff is done and we can all relax.
I'm really a huge fan
You make it look easy. Great job. Your such a positive person. A joy to watch.
Great video!
Last load of the season just parked the rig now if Laura will come chisel the ground for me I’ll be good to go I’m tired
Good morning Laura! Thanks for the reminder, ordered up a shirt, gotta support the Fisher House.

Thumbs up for your smile!
awesome job ! praying for grandpa and your family God bless yall 🙏🙏🙏🌻🥰
What are you planting in those fields next year, beans maybe? Do you ever put any acres in soil bank?
You call it discing. It used to be called plowing.

That is the cutest farmgirl i have ever seen 😘
Can you imagine if Laura and Cole the CornStar got together, it would be the Midwest Royalty..lol

I'm sure Grant has a big supper waiting.
A great reminder that harvest 2021 may be over but the work continues at Laura Farms!
Looks yummy o and the corn too
Discing is what I miss the most from my younger years working on my dad's farm, probably because it involved driving faster than most other field work. 😀 Looking forward to seeing some of your cattle videos this fall/winter.
Having zero exposure to farming, I'm really enjoying your channel. Really interesting, good pace, always upbeat. I'm a fan.
It's been 30 years since I last worked on the farm. I forgot how satisfying disking is...and the fold!!! I miss that.
jack that wheel and axle up high off of the ground and chain it in the raised positon
We cultivate after harvest as well Laura. Then plough before planting. Be interested to know if you find yields up by doing more cultivation. Discing in that weather is the best, less dust and wet enough for it to go in deeper.
Received my shirt last week. This Pennsylvania guy loves it!
Got my shirt last week too! :-) Nice!

You know you're redneck when you driving on the highway with a rubbing a trailer tire 👍🏻😂
Good morning from The Great Smoky Mountains. Love your channel . Keep up the AWESOME work!!!
Yes I understand I loved I use to do the same job before farming is awesome job alot of work

@@barnabeadriaens3703 I interpreted it as Washington State. If not, I'm still confused as to what it means.
Great video Laura prayers for Grandpa
I worked on a small farm in NH in the late 80s. I loved being on the tractor all day. No cab though.. but just being out in the open and that sense of accomplishment mixed with what my dad called, “a good tired”. Wish I could’ve done that my whole life.
What happened?
I'm wondering if that small farm is now a housing development.
