Do you feel like you're constantly having to choose between pie and cake? No? Well, in any case, we still have the recipe for you. Grab those summer fruits that are ripening on your countertop, because today Molly’s going to demonstrate the most delectable way to put them to use. Jammy fruits get surrounded by a buttery cake batter, and then everything gets topped with homemade Frosted Flakes. Baking the pie cake in a cast iron skillet allows the batter to turn crusty and crunchy at the edges while leaving a tender, cakey middle, which results in what can only best be described as: pie cake.

This is the most manic and chaotic cake baking I've ever seen.
I already made this and it slaps. I decreased the sugar by 1/4 cup and used all brown. I didn’t have cornmeal so I used more almond flour. And added a little lemon juice to the fruit filling. It was SO GOOD.
What size was your cast iron pan?
Dude all your food has such an artistic/creative edge. You can tell how much passion you have by your attention to detail and being bold enough to truly do what excites you! You are ART =)
I am a pie person, period. That being said, this pie-cake/cake-pie looks delicious! Thanks, Molly!
Surprised-face UA-cam thumbnails are the best, and I hope they never end.
Looks like a definite winner, Molly! Thanks for this great invention!!
We made it last night as well. Holy crap is it delicious! I used dragon fruit, blueberries, raspberries, fuji apples, strawberries, and blackberries. I also used cinnamon chex for the cereal crunch. Yummmm!!! I didn't have to use sugar in the topping and was able to make it vegan by using veg oil instead and cashew milk. I also didn't have almond flour & used tapioca starch instead. Such a wonderful texture. I'm now playing with a recipe for vegan cheesecake with a texture like this. Thank you for the inspiration and FANTASTIC food! ❤
WHHAATT 😳 No Way that's crazy and it looks so delicious wow I've never heard of pie , and cake together
this is such a molly baking recipe i'm obsessed!!! i'm dreaming of this in the fall with some in-season apples/apple cider flavors omg
Looks so delicious and quite easy👍💕💕thanks
I totally made this and it was GORGE!!!!
Oh wow. This is such an easy recipe. Deff going to make
I'm totally making this tonight
This looks amazing! I think honey might be nicer in the cornflakes though.❤
This was a great recipe. Thank you Molly.
I’m making this soon! I have peaches, pears, and berries to use. I’m glad you noticed at the end that there were no contrasting colors in the kitchen segment. Too monotone. Lol!
oh the cornflakes omg
Genius
Hey Molly, this recipe looks amazing! I don't have a cast iron skillet, what would you recommend I use instead?
Like a giant financier. YUM!
I've never craved cornflakes more than I do in this moment. Hit the Cornflakes with Sarah Wilson, that's my show lol.
Thanks for the best recipes ever, Mol
Thank you for the recipe. It looks great. What is the dimension of the skillet? Thanks😊😊
It is 8:05 am on the east coast and I am craving for a pie cake breakfast!
My mouth is watering and I second that craving! I’m also on the east coast… western Massachusetts bordering New York and Connecticut.
This looks delicious! I do wish the videos were a bit slower in pace as this felt rushed and a bit chaotic. We’d like to take our time with you :)
Could i bake it in another vessel? Like a tart pan or springform pan? And if so , what's the correct size of the vessel?
Does the cornmeal shuld feel like flour when rubbed between the fingers or shuld it feel more gritty like regular cornmeal?
who made that intro music? I love it!
and bring on all the videos. we want more!
If you can't have almonds (or any nuts or seeds), what swap would you recommend for the almond flour?
You could likely use any other flour, cake flour would likely be the lightest - it seems like the almond flour was more of a flavour choice than a structural one.
I’m allergic to tree nuts too. I don’t know if an even swap for a wheat flour would work…

I'm a chronic macerater.
You’re gonna WHAT the fruit?!?!
yummy but this much batter + fruit = waaay too much for a normal size cast iron, oven disaster ❤️
Great editing. But fast but great..
Girl slow down
I purchased Cook This Book. And I’m here to say Do. Not. Cook. Her. Book. Her recipes do not taste good. She’s trying too hard to be unique and different that it the recipe becomes a mess. Her hot takes are too far off that it should be called not takes.
