Peavey Subwoofer Comparison - Pro Rider vs Low Rider vs Low Max (and magnet swaps)

  • This comparison shows the difference between the three using a Peavey IPR2 7500 amp. I also show the actual Ohms of each speaker, and the sound quality using the built-in 100Hz crossover on the amp, so bass should be pretty clean. I also do some magnet swaps to prove that you can upgrade baskets and keep your old magnets. Sorry about my accent, I can't even understand myself!

What you did was measure the DC resistance of the voicecoil. That’s not the same as the 8 ohm impedance that the driver is rated at. 8 ohms is the nominal(average) impedance measurement of the operating frequency range for the driver.

Yeah I figured that out once I put them in a box hahah

I love black widow subs. I replaced my b52 folded bass horn with a pair of black widow subs and the sound better than subs b 52 uses in their folded bass horn cabinets. At first i made some boxes for the black widows but they sounded really bad and made poping noises so i decided to install them inside my b52 folded bass horn cabinets and right away they sounded way better. So now i just have a pair of b52 subs i dont use because they both are 4 ohms and i only use 8 ohms speakers.

Hey there. Thanks for your videos. How has the Peavey IPR-7500 held up? I've heard negative things about them, what's your experience with them? Are they good with 20hz and below? Thanks in advance.

I have 6 of the IPR2 7500 and they are super good, I drive them very hard and not even tickles them !.!.

@@sonidoa.c.g3884 Lol! wow that's awesome. I'm glad to hear another positive experience with those amplifiers. I believe the class (D) topology has been questioned somewhat as to whether or not it can hold up as well as the class (H) or the heavier toroidal transformer style amplifiers. Thanks for your response and input.

@@shadrachjackson752 yea, I was watching the bad experiences, and personally I called Peavey about the issue and they assured me that the problem was happening to a batch that wasn’t properly solder and customer were having issues with that, but it was only 1 batch of these amps, either way if you happen to be a lucky one and get one of those, Peavey will fix it for free, all I can say I love these amps,

@@sonidoa.c.g3884 Well, on that note I might reconsider the Peavey IPR-7500s then. If I do, I hope and pray that the ones I get are the good ones with no issues. Thanks again buddy.

You cannot read ohms while speakers are facing downwards! Always keep speakers facing up to get normal readings!!

That is dc resistance you need an actual impedance meter and impedance varies because of AC voltage

I have the same Black Widow Low Rider and made the same noise when the bass hit. Easy Fix for me... Take off the magnet and clean the gap where the coil go in and wipe the coil (use dry miro cloth) I have a air compressor, I just blew in the coil gap.

Is the voice coil touch the side of the magnet is done those long screws in her to durn thing and I don't know how much you know about those Lomax but I really don't know too much about him still the boxing house two of them where are German parallel to the ground 5000 on them I guarantee you won't be a picture on the wall in your house or the neighbor on either side of me both of those speakers whatever the wattages on any speaker you need twice the power to running so it is measured this way if you have a 400 watt driver you need 800 to run it too little power your calls the speaker the buckle and missing its own voice coil translate estate if you haven't you don't have enough Heat you going to do me in so you and at least need a mineral a 5000 w prepare and if you got the right cat got him in the right cabinet if you a DJ asking to be too much depending on size of your vindy what are you doing live bands you need a minimum of two boxes of side once you get them open man now I will tell you don't put them those speakers in that design those drivers are not designed for a sealed box

No they did not use those on versarray system versuri drivers don't look nothing like that anniversary sisters JBL and is ran by Crown amplifiers PV ain't got nothing to do with versuri in fact the PV drivers can't even swing with diverse array reversal rate verse raise bringing at Sam you need to do your homework about diverse array verse re getting that ass TV ain't want don't want nothing to do with diverse array I don't make no mistake they get up on you you need the right type of box write a fires the right gear and most importantly an engineer to know how to get sound out the Lomax

First of all your leads on the back of your speaker or smacking the cone that's where you getting that noise from second of all those drivers take a while to warm up once the voice coil warms up their cleanup but you must be a DJ cuz if you work the first time you know that to you know if you don't have those drivers in a box they not going to sound good at all. So let me give you a better professional advice get them locked into a box before you start judging them cuz I guarantee you a lot of people would really a freaked out if they knew the gig that I was doing was being done by peavey's F-350 white drivers that I used on a gig where I had 16 tops double 15 tops being ran by for 4000-watt drivers and I guarantee you wouldn't have stood in front of those drivers saying that same comment you need help and running your stuff because you don't fully understand it so I'm trying to help you you need a minimum of 5,000 watch to run to Lomax drivers together now I don't know if you run in the 1600s and tops or bottoms but if you running them in tops you going to run your top boxes in at 4 Ohms or 1 mm x 16 ohms as 2:15 in the same topbox I would suggest wear depends on how many boxes you taught that you stringing together so I'm going to give you a formula if you're only using 224 boxes my suggestion is wired in parallel if you are trying to do a large gig and you need a lot of sound let me help you out you wire your boxes in series Ustream the boxes together parallel search the 16 old boxes with drop tough 4 Ohms which is you'll have to run a 3-way system now I don't know what kind of tops you running but let's just say you're running single 15 tops you can only stream two boxes together 2 / Channel if you run in single 15 and I better be pretty loud but it be nice and clean make sure your boxes are well-insulated that also makes the driver's clean up a lot outside of the box and give it all kind of reverberations you're listening to the back and the front of the driver the same time that's why it doesn't sound good to you

Unless you got to lomax's you wasting your time they need to have a a buddy with them so they can drop down to four ohms I know what your meter says but you're meeting right I run afro sound system with Lomax drivers they don't work that well by themselves they need a buddy and a whole lot of power unless you got at least five thousand watch to push them unless you have 5000 watts to push them Lomax driver you wasting your time that's right 5001 switch to driving
