Because we Don’t fly over large bodies of water, we Don’t get swimming training. Flight attendants have a life vest and each passenger has a flotation device (seat cushion)
Mindy, I have a CJO from SkyWest and a CJO from a mainline carrier. Training with SkyWest is starting next week and training for the mainline doesn't start until Jan-Feb. I was thinking of going to training with SkyWest just for the experience and then quitting when the mainline carrier calls for training. This is a new industry for me so this seemed like a good idea until watching some of your videos. Given your experience with SkyWest would you recommend this?
Charles, thanks for watching! Here’s the thing -you’ll be so burned out from training at Skywest that you won’t feel like going through training again. it takes a lot out of you emotionally and physically. You’d be better off to save your money and then just wait for the main line. The mainline training is much easier, the downside is you have a roommate (depending on mainline carrier if it Delta). Also you will be confused because terminology is different and the planes and doors are different, the way they do things and their policies are different and it will be a lot of undoing and your muscle memory will be affected. At Skywest, you are learning how to work on for completely different airlines where the main line you’re focused only on one. A lot of my classmates that came from other carriers struggled with the differences and tended to not pass tests because they would revert back to the old way from the other line. My self included, got called out by an instructor for saying terminology for “all call” for door testing from the mainline that was similar but not the same way that Skywest wanted me to say it. It just stuck in my head.
You need to bring your own training uniform-I will have a in depth video coming up soon about this. For the job, they will give you a few options for work uniforms after graduation at their cost.

Yes you are provided with your crew uniform which you will receive in training so leave room in your suitcase to bring home.
